honestly i thought the same thing (well kinda, it was more the opposite i guess) I interpreted it as someone else was struggling with depression and suicide and he was trying to help them, thats why its called "the light behind your eyes" because when you smile your eyes glisten with happiness and he wants to see that happen again to that person. But again i can see where you're coming from :) |

I imagine that this song is about him loosing literally everything... he has slowly lost everything in his life that gave him happiness there is nothing left... so he commits suicide, by jumping into the Ocean.. when he refers to "Sleeping" it means death. when he refers to "Falling deeper and deeper" that either means going deeper into depression or the ocean (to kill himself) Sirens are mythical creatures that use to sing songs to lure sailors to their deaths by making them crash into rocks, so by saying sirens are calling you, it is like Death is awaiting you. Davy Jones locker is a place in the ocean that is where the souls of Sailors go once they have died (at sea) so its saying that davy Jones is waiting for you to die. So its a song about killing yourself... which is probably why i love it |

i believe its about a stalker, it showing both her and the stalker POV throughout the song. "Snow white queen" can be broken down to explain this theory. "snow white" is Amy's nickname as she is like snow white with the beautiful pale skin and black hair. "Queen" is how the stalker sees her, as someone to worship and bow down to. the majority of the song is from Amy (the one being stalked) POV but You belong to me My snow white queen There's nowhere to run So let's just get it over Soon my love, you'll see You're just like me Don't scream anymore, my love 'Cause all I want is you - is from the Stalkers point of view. |

i believe its about suicide, they tried to end the pain by committing suicide but as they are dying they realise that they are only bringing more pain to themselves and have betrayed themselves. she is asking God if its to late for her, is she to late to be saved, and if it is will she be accepted into heaven (after all *apparently* suicide is the unforgivable sin ---- I'm not christian so I'm guessing--) |

i think the song is kinda about someone going through a rough time, they are depressed and the one person that they could trust has left them, even after all they had done for them. "These wounds won't seem to heal, this pain is just to real, theres just to much for time to erase" is about self harm, cutting to be exact, The scars are healing, all the emotional and physical pain is unbearable and just giving it time to sort out isn't working. "When you cried, I'd wipe away all of your tears When you'd scream, I'd fight away all of your fears And I held your hand through all of these years But you still have all of me" i feel this is showing that that person did everything they possibly did for that person but as soon as they need them they vanish. "But you still have all of me" Its like they took away everything left of the person and left them with nothing but the problem. i could go on but I'm tired |

Although i doubt many of you will agree with this, this is my interpreation of the song. I think the song is about a Depressed Girl (or guy) who is self harming and Suicidal and their partner is begging them to stay with them, It is Shown by both POV's.... many lines in the song can show this. (to make it simpler to explain lets just say its a depressed girl and her boyfriend) "Come on skinny love just last the year" -i see this as meaning, The Girls boyfriend is begging her just to at least last one more year, maybe after a year she will change her mind! Also, the work "Skinny" next to love can also represent the fact that the love is dying because one half is gone (Dying) "Pour a little salt we were never here My, my, my, my, my, my, my, my" - i can't remember but my friend helped me with this part, The salt was representing something like the scars left behind after all the self harm (cutting) or it was to inflict more pain on herself, by pouring salt over her cuts. "Staring at the sink of blood and crushed veneer" -this one is pretty straight forward, Staring at the sink of blood is obviously showing that she is staring at the bloody filled sink after cutting herself. veneer (which is a thin decorative covering of fine wood applied to a coarser wood or other material.) which could mean she used the shards of wood to even inflict her cuts (doubtful) or the fact she smashed the veneer in anger, before or after she harmed herself. "I tell my love to wreck it all Cut out all the ropes and let me fall" - the whole fact about the ropes is as if she's hung herself so they are removing her dead body.. (by cutting the ropes and letting her body fall to the ground) she wants her boyfriend to wreck everything that will remind him of her, as she doesnt want him to suffer. "My, my, my, my, my, my, my, my Right in the moment this order's tall" -instead of hanging herself she could OD on drugs, tall=lots/high how ever you wish to interperate it. "I told you to be patient I told you to be fine I told you to be balanced I told you to be kind" -This is from the guys POV, he is saying she needs to be Patient about her death, let her death be when its meant to be. Be fine as in get better and be happy again, be balanced, stop feeling so down, you need to pick yourself back up and have balanced emotions. he told her to be kind to herself and stop harming herself. "In the morning I'll be with you But it will be a different "kind"" -The Girls POV, she is saying that in the morning even though he can't see her because she's dead, she will always be with him, but in a different KIND of form. "I'll be holding all the tickets And you'll be owning all the fines" -She will be holding onto his Ticket to "heaven" for example, she will be waiting. you will be holding all the fines means that she doesn't want him to follow in her footsteps, he needs to be fine and continue living after her death. "Come on skinny love what happened here" -The Guys POV, his asking himself why she killed herself, again, "Skinny" is used to show the Dying/Dead love. "Suckle on the hope in lite brassiere My, my, my, my, my, my, my, my Sullen load is full; so slow on the split" -Sullen is a word for "Gloomy" so his heart broken about her death and his full of Upset, its going to be a long time to get over her, "So slow on the split" is how its going to be a long time (slow) before he moves on (split) "I told you to be patient I told you to be fine I told you to be balanced I told you to be kind" -same as before "Now all your love is wasted? Then who the hell was I?" -his asking himself why she did it? was it because nobody liked her? if so, what did she think of him? He loved her more then everyone else put together. "Now I'm breaking at the britches And at the end of all your lines" -his breaking down at the end of every line of her suicide note. "Who will love you? Who will fight? Who will fall far behind?" -what happens now, there are all these questions his asking himself because he doesn't know what to do when she isn't here. "Come on skinny love My, my, my, my, my, my, my, my" -He is wishing its all a dream, "Come on skinny love" - his wishing that the love wasn't Skinny and she was still here |
