If you use your head and do a little reading most of this song is clear. Eight Miles High is obviously a Byrds reference, helter skelter is Beatles etc. The only things that are unclear to me is a) the jester could be one of three people: Elvis, Bob Dylan or The Beatles ( Elvis cause he stole Buddy Holly's crown, Bob Dylan, or the Beatles ( they were signed to a comedy label at first because America was so dominant in the music industry the only acts that Britain had before the British Invasion were comedy ones) and b) who is miss American pie? Could he be referring to Rock and Roll in general or is it someone specific? |
