Chris and Thomas – Take These Thoughts Lyrics 9 years ago
I think this song may be about depression.
All he wants is to be happy and he compares himself to other people who lead happy lives and enjoy themselves, but he craves happiness and he's jealous of what others have that he doesn't.

"take these thoughts" may represent how he should take his depressing thoughts and store them away, to try and become a happier person.

And I think the ending means that if his depressing thoughts come back then "burn the whole place down" may symbolize suicide.

He was also a wanted to film her in his child pornography films, so that could represent the whole "Put me in a movie" thing

Love this song!

I think he's just comparing the girl he likes to a mirror.

Fink – This Is The Thing Lyrics 11 years ago
I completey agree with you, minus for the "thing" that he is describing in the chorus.

The last few sentences are:

And I don't know if you notice anything different
I don't know if you even notice at all
And I don't know if you notice anything missing

This is the thing

The "thing" he is referring to is the fact that the person he is singing this about just doesn't listen. She notices nothing and she is just not in the relationship as deeply as he was.

Fauxliage – Let It Go Lyrics 11 years ago
I think this song is about someone who has an unrequited love for someone.

In the beginning she says she has to let it go and move on, because they don't like her back.

She sees that he doesn't care about the whole thing but its driving her crazy because she likes him and he doesn't even show any emotion.

She wonders if he might've liked her like she wanted him. And she can't change him, or the way he feels, and he can't change the fact that she likes him.

Imagine Dragons – Radioactive Lyrics 11 years ago
Assassin's Creed 3 used this song and I think it might have some meaning about the game.

For those who haven't played the series, it is basically about a man who goes into a machine to see his ancestors to get artifacts to save the world from an apocalypse, which was when the sun burnt the world.

Gregory Alan Isakov – Master and a Hound Lyrics 11 years ago
I think this song is about an abusive father, and this song is coming from his perspective.

"Where were you when I was still kind" is pretty much him saying his son should have been around when he wasn't ill-tempered and grumpy.

The dry gin drinker could also symbolize his alcoholism.

But he still tries to be a good father and he recollects times from when he took his son to a circus, and the "Master and a hound" is him and his hound--his son-- who will do anything because he loves his father unconditionally.

Then he asks his son to shake a snow globe, not exactly sure why, but maybe so he can try and bond with his son.

And then they are back to the memories of the carnivals and how the carnival songs followed them as they "flew" around the carnival.

The Lucky Coins could have two meanings in my opinion. The first is he wants his son to throw him some lucky coins so they can win prizes together, or it could generally be the idea of him asking him to give him money to go to rehab and be a better person.

James Vincent McMorrow – Down the Burning Ropes Lyrics 11 years ago
I think this song is about a murderer who lets his lover take the falls for his crimes, and she gets hung at the gallows.

"When the hills let go
Slowly fade into the water like some ancient lover
On a ship filled with ghosts
It's something to behold"
This part might mean that his problems are sinking, like his ancient lover- ancient because she is dead and her ghost haunts him.

"When the paper thin girls
With twisting little braids in their hair,
They take off their coats and throw
Pebbles and stones from the side of the boat,
Crying out
The stones they float, the stones they float
Oh my God, the stones they float, the stones they float"

The paper thin girls could be the spectators for the hanging, and the stones floating is a metaphor. Stones don't float, it is impossible for them to float, and like the woman being hung, it is impossible for her to be the murderer.

"Down the burning ropes
Past the places where the steal beams meet concrete skies
You make your bed under the moonlight
I think it's time we said goodbye"

Down the burning ropes could be the nuse (dont know how to spell it) that is going to hang the woman. When they bury her she is in a grave, and her "bed" is buried under the moonlight

"Cause nothing moves in the warm air
And words that once would cut like a knife,
They just hang in the cloud and you're
Pushed by the lord,
But you're pulled by the crowds and
You're overboard, you're overboard
Oh my God, she's overboard"

So now that she is killed, she is innocent so rather than go to hell the Lord is trying to bring her to heaven but the spectators believe she is guilty so they want her to go to hell, and now she's overboard with the accusations of this crime.

"My love she's overboard
She's overboard
My love she's over board"
This proves that it's his love thats the one who is "overboard"

"Not a shell unbroken
In the valley where my heartache and the timbers lay
It's not the time to be hanging around here
You know what some might say"

So now the village where he lives is full of heartache and the aftermath of this woman's death. Gossip goes on in the village.

"That people get too reckless
That even with the simplest of crimes
They leave, blood behind,
As I clean the knife for the very last time
I think she knows, I think she knows
Oh my God, I think she knows

I think she knows"

People were gossiping about how people get reckless with their crimes, and he reminisces on how he became reckless with his murders and his wife probably came in and witnessed the killing. He realizes that his lover knows that he is a murderer.

Iron & Wine – Belated Promise Ring Lyrics 12 years ago
I agree with most people who say this is about a relationship, where he is head-over-heels and the girl doesn't appreciate his love.

But unlike most who said their love won't last because Rebecca is unpassionate, I disagree.

"Sunday evening my Rebecca's lost a book she never read
And the moon already fell into the sea
Saw the statues of our fathers in the courthouse flower bed
Now they blend with all the lightning-tattered trees
They say, "Time may give you more than your poor bones could ever take"
My Rebecca said she knew I'd want a boy
A dollar for my boardwalk red balloon, to float away
She would earn a pocketful to buy me more"

I think at this part, when she loses a book she never read, it signifies how she lost something without knowing it's depth. This makes Rebecca realize that one day she'll lose the man's love without loving him back. So she changes her attitude when she says that she "Knew I'd want a boy", saying that she will give him the boy she wants, and she will earn money for the "balloons" that float away.
