Senses Fail – Cinco De Mayo Lyrics 12 years ago
This is one of my favorites from senses fail. This is my little interp

Buddy is using a town to symbolize, in my opinion, alcohol addiction. By saying "This town has sunk it's teeth deep inside of me" I can sense buddy saying alcohol has a grip on him. Buddy says it in a way that implys he hasn't been around the drug for a while, or is just coming back to drug use.

"And this used to be my own safety" This line makes me think the drug is alcohol, only because Senses fail's other songs refer to it so often. Buddy is saying that alcohol was his escape mechanism, and he is returning to it.

the song has a feel of saying Buddy doesn't want to become the person he was, but in a sense already has. When he describes the nights of pain he's suffered because of the alcohol, there's a feel that he doesn't want to go back, but already made the steps towards returning.

The other lines of this song speak for themselves, when buddy states "i'm a mess of everything that i never want to be"

honestly, i think when buddy talks about those nights, he's just saying how lonely he was while drunk and how he felt like he'd stay that way his whole life. He also talks about the pain alcohol brings him and how he never wants to go back.

One thing that's odd is the title, possibly the 5th of may has some significant date, like when he quit alcohol or returned, i don't think it's necessarily tied back to the spanish holiday.

I have a tendency to over analyze, so if you don't agree, or find something flawed, please comment, i won't be offended. Thanks guys
