I can tell you exactly what this song is about because it was me who had it written for my wife. We got married when we were super young, and marriage is hard enough but add on being a 20yr old kids and you really have the odds stacked against you...we had our problems like everyone does but it was getting to a point where i was starting to loose hope that we would make it. So i went to my best Friend Jaime Preciado who i grew up with and was the best man at my wedding and asked him if he would help me write and record a song that i would sing on and give it to her as a Valentines day gift. i had a bunch of ideas for lyrics and he siggested that he would ask Vic to sing on it as his vocal talents far exceed mine. So they took the lyric ideas i gave them and ran with it. The song is about having a 1st love and always trying so hard to make it work but because you are young and dumb you screwing up but trying so hard to make it work even if you dont know whats going to happen but as long as you love someone you always have a chance and this was the same with us...we broke up 2 or 3 times before getting engaged and when we did get engaged we caught grief for days, "your too young" blah blah blah but this was our "2nd chance" We knew we had "faith in our love" so we didnt care. "red lights flash in a car we're kissing in" comes from a night when were about 19 just hanging out in her car making out and got busted by the cops because we were not allowed to be there. good times.We had so many things stacked against us that i always felt our whole relationship was hanging on by a thread. When we got married my mom toasted at the reception, "just make sure you always kiss eachother good night and everything will be ok" and that stuck with me to this day. Never go to bed bitter or angry. The song randomly came up on my ipod so i decided to look up what people thought of it and here i am. So thats the story of how this song came to be. |
