Meg Myers – The Morning After Lyrics 8 years ago
For some reason, this song strikes me as having to do with a miscarriage or abortion when she mentions "how you look like my daughter / it's burned in my mind". As for the "lions and bears" part: lions are well-known to kill the young of any previous leader of the pride, and male bears are known to kill their own young if the mama bear doesn't protect them.

When she says "I hope you sleep with a marigold" it further supports the idea of the loss of a child; in Mexico, the marigold is known as the flower of the dead, and it is also symbolic of grief and pain (i.e., the mourning of a lost daughter).

Meg Myers – Poison Lyrics 8 years ago
This song seems to liken a love interest of hers with a drug, which effectively left her a "love junkie." And the tone seems to imply this isn't a good thing with it being termed "poison love" as well as lines like "you'll be my suicide"

This leads me to believe the love interest is possibly abusive in some way (mentally, emotionally, and/or physically)

Emilie Autumn – Dead Is the New Alive Lyrics 12 years ago
I like all of your interpretations. I'd agree this song is about suicide, but I also think this is a romantically-driven suicide, more specifically the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet.

"So take me now or take me never
I won't wait
You're already late
So say goodbye or say forever
Choose your fate
How else can we survive?
Dead is the new alive"

Romeo was too late to come and save Juliet when he finds her "dead" corpse in the tomb.
Then she sings:
"A gothic play revival
The last act of the show"

Both suicides occurred at the very last act of the play of Romeo and Juliet..

Lastly comes the quote that many of you found particular interest in:
"A quick taste of the poison, a quick twist of the knife
When the obsession with death
The obsession with death becomes a way of life"

Romeo drank poison when he found Juliet "dead" and ends up dying. Juliet wakes up from her fake death only to find her love dead before her. She kisses his lips, which still have a bit of poison left on them and stabs herself with his dagger.

Because of the romanticism that many of today's society place upon the play, it would seem that Emilie Autumn is drawing parallels to what society perceives as "romantic" and what it SHOULD consider "romantic". I'm actually surprised nobody else imagined the Romeo and Juliet reference.

Evanescence – Secret Door Lyrics 12 years ago
This song reminds me of St. Joan of Arc (though it could be anyone who was burned at the stake). "Burn the fire 'til my soul breaks free" supports this idea. The "heavens in [her] mind" could be her interpretation of what the other side is like.

"My heart is high as the waves above me" could be referring to the waves of clouds above her (an allusion to Heaven). The person being burned at the stake is looking up to the sky, imagining his/her soul getting raised up beyond earthly measure, "I will remember how to fly, unlock the heavens in my mind."

There's also an added feeling of martyrdom when Amy sings "No need to understand, too lost to lose. Don't fight my tears cause they feel so good" This shows that the martyr is being killed because people think he/she is too lost (away from their views) to lose (the truth has been found, even if everyone else refuses to accept it). The tears have double meaning: literal tears are probably a result of both physical pain of the fire as well as metaphorical tears due to the pain of isolation via being persecuted.

Evanescence – Secret Door Lyrics 12 years ago
Who cares when we post the lyrics? We've been waiting for this album for five years. Why does it matter if we sneak a look at the songs before they're released, as long as we purchased the album?

I'm not changing the lyrics to fit the album jacket, because the lyrics I've posted are correct. Get over yourself.

Amanda Lepore – Marilyn Lyrics 12 years ago
Amanda Lepore is comparing Marilyn Monroe to other largely known icons. The lyrics suggest that Marilyn Monroe had all of the qualities of each icon, which makes her superior to all of them.

Jeffree Star – I'm In Love (With a Killer) Lyrics 12 years ago
This song seems to be about falling in love with someone, knowing that they'll end up being your downfall. This love consumes the entire core of the person to the point that their lover can do anything, including murder (both literal and metaphorical), and they'll still love them regardless.
