Leprous – Cryptogenic Desires Lyrics 10 years ago
The song kinda sounds like it's describing some kind of lust/love relationship. Cryptogenic, as a medical term, means that the origin is unknown. So with that the cryptogenic desire part is pretty self explanatory . The desire itself is up for debate...

Clutch – Never Be Moved Lyrics 11 years ago
To me this song seems to be about the devoutly religious waiting for the return of the messiah and that they won't be swayed by the growing acceptance of darwinism.

Rush – Natural Science Lyrics 13 years ago
I think this line is more about man making earth suit his own needs rather than us adapting to the earth instead of a biblical reference and I think that's where its creativity comes from. The song endorses science and technology, but it speaks of governing one's technological achievements to not get too out of hand and getting to the point where we engineering everything in life to our benefit.
"Science like nature must also be tamed, with a view towards its preservation"
I think this line sums up that idea, you have to keep science (referring more towards technology, not an understanding of the natural sciences) in check to strike a balance between our use nature and technology.

Yes, quite the undertaking to play yourself! The way Rush does it is so seamless, me on the other hand, that's another story.

Rush – Manhattan Project Lyrics 13 years ago
One of Rush's few entirely literal songs. There is nothing more here than Neil's retelling of the race to build the bomb. Anecdotally, this song got me to where I am today, studying nuclear engineering in college. It went from "I want to hear more about the manhattan project" to "wow this nuclear stuff is pretty amazing" to "I want to work in nuclear energy". So here I am, thank you Rush for helping me decide my career path.

Rush – Territories Lyrics 13 years ago
The song to me is about everyone thinking that they are the best. Each country will claim to have the best beer, the best foods, the best sports teams, but all this "I'm the best" mentality keeps people from understanding and appreciating other places "Can't really feel what international means" and it's this mentality that keeps everyone from seeing the broad picture and appreciating the entire world "The whole wide world, and endless universe, yet we keep looking at the eyeglass in reverse"
It's like looking through binoculars backwards and not seeing what's off in the distance, only what is right here in front of you.

Rush – Dog Years Lyrics 13 years ago
It's "Or a"
The whole idea is living a longer life, Galapagos tortoises live well over a hundred years, it would make more sense to be a span of geological time (achieving the theme of being around longer) than being a turtle with a lifespan exaggerated by a factor of at least 300,000.
Plus, the album booklet says "Or a"
