I am too lazy to actually read all the comments, so excuse me if I reiterate any of the points previous comments cover. what i get is this: someone is waiting for love he saw the chrysanthemums (others in love) and searched for his own amaranthe (his own love) but as time went by, and no amaranthe appeared, he had to close his eyes to find it he started getting discouraged by its non-existence anywhere but in his head, so he started wasting away "I can remember... dreamt them so vividly Soft creatures draped in white, light kisses gracing me I can remember when I first realized Dreams were the only place to see them" he's given up hope he never never wanted this always wanted to believe that's my take |

i agree with animal_house210 i usually only listen to the music and vocals, but not the lyrics, hence my need for this place to tell me wtf i'm actually hearing now please excuse me, i must headbang violently and draw stares from onlookers joy |

well this may be too obvious for a gorillaz song, but what if its about loneliness i've noticed you're loneliest when your trying to fall asleep, unsuccessfully you're tired as hell, but sleep won't come, so your mind races and your subconcious dregs up all this unwanted unpleasantness "can't take this really can't finish this" and "it's my mistake i'll make it... chemical cutt-throats bout to blow this brain out" despearation? suicidal thoughts? the part where noodle is singing i think is the crux of the song because: a)the beat slows b)she starts singing representing a point of contradiction (a dude rapping vs a girl singing) c)the words seem to have more emphasis because they are sung out instead of rapidly rapped out back to the desperate and lonely theory "Close your eyes and see When there ain't no light All you'll ever be Come and save the night Coz I don't leave When the morning comes it doesn't Seem to say an awful lot to me" when you're at your lonliest you are kinda hopeless and that all comes out in the dark, the dark of the night and the dark when your brain is at its weakest so you think that all that stuff you aren't proud of you cant really believe that you'll ever be anything more and these thoughts don't leave when the sunlight comes so you're stuck with these haunting thoughts of inadequacy like i said maybe too obvious for a gorillaz song well that was my take of the song |
