Punch Brothers – Missy Lyrics | 13 years ago |
(the submitted version is just about perfect, but I thought a few people might appreciate the punctuation from the booklet) I told her once, "Get thee behind me." "Cover up, Missy, for the love of God. I can't not look, I can't not look, and I can't do a thing about what I saw, though I wish I could, I wish I could." She told me once, "Sit down beside me." I told her twice, "Get thee behind me." "Strip down, Missy, it's eleven AM, I'm gonna wake up soon, gonna wake up soon. I bet you say that to all of the dreaming men That get lucky with you, get lucky with you." She told me once, "Lay down beside me." And I lay down beside her Too real, too quick, too close to home, too much to take to task alone and not have just a little taste. Too hot, too sweet, too bad, too late. I told her three times, "Get thee behind me." "Float away, Missy, like a wisp of smoke that I could've inhaled, maybe could've inhaled, and I'll sing your praises everywhere I go, 'Such a pretty girl, such a beautiful girl.'" She told me once, "You won't forget me," and I won't forget her. |

The Dear Hunter – The Lake and the River Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Does anyone know exactly what Casey's saying in the acoustic section at around 5:40? It seems like he's nearly repeating the chorus from "The Procession" (which is totally par for the course regarding TDH's super-cool intelligent song structure) but I feel like at least one line is different. Here's my best shot: She's inanimate bloodless elegance Fatal fascination breeds a bloom of misery helpless hiding tongues bathed in revulsion [here lies possibility?] wilting premature |

[These words are from the booklet. The only ambiguity is how to format it best.] The blood... how it paints such a scene foul routine pedigree mouth agape, stuttered hands attempt to flail, and finally agree her heart ceases its rhythm somewhere trumpets decay in the front by the well wishing wishes that deny the stale smell in the hay there, no one cry [cries?] place these over her eyes we are broke and alone we are broken alone [CHORUS:] (She's inanimate) (bloodless elegance) Fatal fascination breeds a bloom of misery (helpless hiding tongues) (bathed in revulsion) her lies unfinished beauty wilting premature But we can't be too sure no we can't be too sure reserved, always playing the part of the boy left alone he proceeds to the road beyond the home he'd learn to call his own. [CHORUS] One life for another. [CHORUS] |
The Dear Hunter – Battesimo Del Fuoco Lyrics | 13 years ago |
(This is a note taken from the CD case, under the CD itself. I wasn't sure where to put it, so I figured as a comment on the first song would be as good a place as any.) The Dear Hunter is a story of a boy, from his creation to his untimely end, the beautifully rapturous to the truly tragic. Set at the dawn of the 20th century, the debut EP, "I: The Lake South The River North" gives birth to a story, and makes sense of the future by explaining the past. Simply put, The Dear Hunter sings of something to which we can all relate–Â lust, deceit, greed, and hunting. |
The Dear Hunter – The Pimp and The Priest Lyrics | 13 years ago |
These are the correct lyrics, literally from the booklet that came with the EP. The only ambiguity is how to format them the best, and there were a FEW typos in the insert (e.g., "Burn it too the ground"). Anyway, here you go: The pimp and the priest pounce on quickened cats' feet for the freshest young blood, innocence for the feast the book will then brew what the sinful commit while the pimp and priest prey quietly where the precious sinners sit. Confess. Oh! Confess... In the chapel or brothel where we suffocate stress We've got the time if you've got the scratch (We'll conquer your sins while she screams on her back) Faster, save me! How the sins remain hostage. Harder, I can't breathe Now the priest and the pimp are already equipped with an enigmatic frontage posts "we welcome walk-ins" so we corner our pace and make quick for the door to be pardoned and passed from the bed to the floor. Confess. Oh! Confess... In the chapel or brothel where we suffocate stress We've got the time if you've got the scratch (We'll conquer your sins while she screams on her back) Take me to the river Faster, save me! How the sins remain hostage. Harder, I can't breathe Sing softly, bring me to the lake sing softly, sing me to the lake Faster, save me! How the sins remain hostage. Harder, I can't breathe |
