UNKLE – Burn My Shadow (feat. Ian Astbury) Lyrics 13 years ago
Like others, I definitely see death in this. Maybe too morbid, but: it feels to me like someone in the act of committing suicide: the split second between the act and the death. The "Oh, how I loved you" feels like the final thought, and in the past tense, as he acknowledges that he's ceasing to be. The falling/burning imagery just feels so violent and immediate to me.

UNKLE – Broken (feat. Gavin Clark) Lyrics 13 years ago
I actually interpreted it as a combination of the dying relationship thing and the heroin thing, oddly enough, so it was interesting to see both of these theories here.

Regardless, I love how delightfully concrete-and-yet-vague these lyrics are. Haunting.

Hybrid – Disappear Here Lyrics 13 years ago
For some reason, I immediately interpreted this as "the other woman" in a man's affair, and they're both conflicted about the affair. I don't necessarily think this is the true (or only) interpretation of the song, but I thought I'd throw it out there to see if anyone agrees or if I'm way off base. :)

Particularly, the "Wait! I'm in the wrong house/I'm in the wrong room/Some place in someone else's shoes" makes me think that being at his home for the first time makes her realize that she's replacing/hurting someone else, and this realization both hurts her and makes her feel guilty, so she wants to flee.

"I have been your guilty pleasure\I've been your lack of restraint\Apply the perfect pressure\To your sweet subordinate"
...seems to speak to an affair, as well; perhaps he is a boss or supervisor figure in her life? (that might be too literal a reading though...)

Anyway, regardless of the meaning, this song is powerful. I love the conflicted emotions that both "characters" have, and the music is fantastic. Love it.
