Breaking Benjamin – Red Cold River Lyrics 1 year ago
The video tells a terrific, albeit horrific story. It was in my opinion, well written and we'll acted. The reaction of the father is totally relatable and realistic. I'd do pretty much the same thing if that was my child. Gut wrenching and traumatic pain. WELL WORTH WATCHING.

Simply put I think it's about giving yourself another chance. You've spent so much time either in actual pain, addiction, or other perceived restraint that's kept you from moving forward in life. You've had an ephiponi. And now have the courage to just go

Ozzy Osbourne – Hero Lyrics 1 year ago
He says "Randy" please don't go. Not baby.
Referring to Randy Rhodes his former guitarist, best friend and despite the age difference his hero. Randy got Ozzy cleaned up off of alcohol. He reminded Ozzy that there was no limit to creating. He (Randy) used to look up to Ozzy, oftentimes calling him his hero. Ozzy blamed himself for not being able to protect Randy and for the longest time he felt the weight of guilt on his shoulders when Randy was killed. Through the next few albums he subsequently wrote songs that increasingly told of his eventual freeing himself of that burden.

Mad Season – Long Gone Day Lyrics 1 year ago
Layne remembering a time in his life where he felt safe. He felt important, not just needed but wanted. To be back in a time where he had hope for the future for it seemed the sky was the limit.

Alice in Chains – Head Creeps Lyrics 13 years ago
what about being forced to be around people who obviously don't care about you (and I mean his 'friends') due to contractual obligations. What about having to endure the pain of the loss of happier times when they all were just having fun making music together.

"untangle You from Me... "

(Perhaps it may even be a more pointed statement to his 'good buddy Jerry')

Personally I believe it (this song) is more of a 'one to one', personal conversation than anything else...

not too mention that he feels that no matter where he goes or what he tries, the effort is always used against him...

Alice in Chains – Sunshine Lyrics 13 years ago
Very good!

Perhaps as well you might think of the protagonist as having lost a father (or male figure) for reasons beyond one's control.. longing for a connection that clearly isn't reciprocated. Doesn't really have to be the father, but since the mother was and is addressed forthright, it kind of made more sense it'd be a 'male' role model...

'Then some dude came down to touch the Mother, Mother touched, and dude ain't here no more... Suck your woman down'

'to brand some name across my back... so you care? Find someone to tell you!'

lastly- perhaps he sees himself becoming the same person he hated all this time....wondering whether or not this is the case and looking for 'mother' to answer him truthfully...worrying whether he's to be the same 'hurting' type as what he's been shown....

then realizing- why bother self reflecting- no one cares to answer him anyways..

Alice in Chains – Dirt Lyrics 13 years ago
No- it is about forcing someone to realize what they are (and have been) doing to someone they once considered a 'friend'.

'You have the talent, to dig me under, and cover me with dirt'

and the solemn resignation that all he can do now is to wish them (again the former 'friend') to 'go crazy, like you've made me'.

NOT AT ALL ABOUT DRUGS OR WANTING DEATH. It is asking for a reason to HOPE.

Alice in Chains – Dirt Lyrics 13 years ago
Personally, it pisses me off when I see that most of the conclusions that people come to (Layne's words) are all drug related. Completely missing the point of not only the song, but the tragedy woven into the words by a suffering and lonely man.

All throughout his turmoil, he retained his mental stability, although at times I am sure even he would admit to being 'out of it', but to only see "drugs" in his words dishonors the human being within. He was misunderstood in life and it seems inevitably that remains the case in death as well.
