when i first heard the song i too thought it was about Lacey being abused and hurt by her mother, then someone told me her cousin was beaten to death when he was ten and i listened to it again and was shocked by what it really means. i dont think its about her mother beating her becuase i've only seen lacey say he mom and her had fights, she has never said she was beaten.
Im sorry i dont need to remember. = thinking about her cousin. yor hands coming down again, i only noticed your face = she is seeing what her cousin saw that night as he was getting hurt. no matter what your gonna build my shell/break my shell= her cousins death is making her not talk and be alone and then her shell is broken and her strongness is only weakness. and leave that salty taste= i always thought that meant blood weant in her moulth afte being hurt but it really means she is crying for her cousin, tears are salty. im falling/ im shedding my skin but its not time im told= this is what made me get chills, she is saying her cousin is dying and his soul is leaving his body and shedding his skin even tough it is not his time, she thinks he died to soon. i am awae of what you mean and by then im only ten years old= her family is talking about it and being real sneaky so they dont scare her, but she knows what happened and iss reliving it over again. my scares are yours today, this story ends so good= she wont think about it anymore, when he died her scares(both out and inside) went with him, she excepts god and hs a happy ending. i love you and i understand that you stood where i stand= she says good bye to him and and understands he believed in god just like her. when she yells ''im done healing!!!'' she is saying what her cousin would have said, hes so happy he yells it. when she says it the 2nd time she is done healing and has god.
