Thought Riot – Walking Stick for the Weak Lyrics 5 years ago
I´m pretty sure it´s about transience. The ephemerality of all things as everything in existence constantly changes it´s form (ages and finally dies).
But beyond this constant process of birth and death the band is singing of some force that is persistant. I think they wheather mean some kind of knowledge or motivation that is being passed on from genaration to gernearation, or maybe they mean it even in a spiritual way: Like there is a soul or something, that exists beyond the dimention of time and carries on the dreams (which could mean some natural will of all living things to progress towards positivity).

That´s how I (like to) look at this song. :)

Tool – Wings for Marie (Pt. 1) Lyrics 5 years ago
@[ghettohmbrglr:27269] WHAT? You mean playing both of the songs at the same time? How can you do that? I mean how start them perfectly at the same time, so there is no time difference between them at all?

@[elyssapipistral:27268] Since you wrote this in 2014, and in your later comment you wrote about your mums disease in past tense, I assume she had passed away in that meantime? ... I wish you all peace in the universe and your mother too! And may the beauty and deepness of art be always with us and accompany and strenghten us in all our difficulties throughout life!

Thrice – Black Honey Lyrics 7 years ago
@[Louk777:16855] Yeah, I was also thinking of that, but isn´t that a little too less as a reference... I mean there isn´t even a clear hint that this is oil. Could also just be black honey! ;-) .... Aaaaah! What ever...

Thrice – Black Honey Lyrics 7 years ago
Hmmm... difficult to say what it is about. Lyrically the middle-east-oil-thing makes the most sense to me, but when I watch the music video, I see absolutely no reference to it.

Why do artists hardly ever give explainations or at least comments to their lyrics??? Sometimes it really makes me angry, when I love the sound of a song and want to know what it´s about, but the writer is not willing to give a even a hint.

Bad Religion – Flat Earth Society Lyrics 8 years ago
Wow, are you serious???

I mean, I won´t defend NASA. I think they are liars when it comes to the apollo program and stuff, but not when they say that the earth (like any other planet) is a ball.

I mean, if you truly believe that the earth is flat, how is it possible that we can simply fly AROUND it by plane?

The Nightwatchman – Lazarus on Down Lyrics 10 years ago
God, songs like this on are almost impossible to understand!
I mean to understand this one you probably must have read the bible...

In cases of such complicated lyrics, i wish the artists themselves would comment on it, to not leave their listeners in the dark about it!

The Nightwatchman – The Fabled City Lyrics 10 years ago
The first verse made me think as follows:

People (he and a friend among them) were protesting against the construction of an atomic power plant at a certain place. Then they seemed to have won — they have pushed the politicians to finally ban the erection of the plant, but the energy company just picked another place (Ojeda — I thought it could be a place) to erect it. And again the men on the street lost the battle.

Verse – Old Guards, New Methods Lyrics 11 years ago
Can some american please clearify some content of this song?

for instance:

"Nothing for the ninth ward, just more of the same."
"Send in the sheep to develop a New Orleans.
A new twist for an old division game"
"overcrowded projects where desperation calls?"
"innocent in rooms with bars and three walls?"
"While the Injustive machine satys greased up with innocent blood."

And who are the "new kings" actually?

Thanks for posting this!
Where did you find this? It´s hard to find band-interviews about Lyrics. Most interviewers ask mostly the same old boring questions about touring, new records and how the band-guys feel when they´re on stage... and all that stuff.

So, please tell me: Where do you get statements from Thomas about SA´s Lyrics???

Best regards from austria!

The Casualties – Destruction & Hate Lyrics 11 years ago
Sorry, but to me this lyrics read just like a pointless buddle of gibberish.
I mean what is supposed to be the point of this? Or what´s the opinions of this band at all?

Come on, lines like:
"I fucking love this hate. When you see the news there's always hate. Why should I care when no one gives a damn."
while in outher songs they are singing about union and solidarity....

Are they even leftist?
Am I the only one who misses the message in this?

Strike Anywhere – To The World Lyrics 14 years ago
It´s definitely "until the last LOCK breaks, non of us are free" and i´m gonna get this line as a tattoo on my back :)

and yes, it´s pretty much about patriotism to the whole world, not to a nation! That´s generally a very very important point that unfortunately barely gets regard :(

The Comeback Kid – Industry Standards Lyrics 14 years ago
Hmmm... I assume that this song is, as the name denotes, about standardized industrial working conditions in 3rd world countries. The first sentence to me seems like telling about the unbearable labor time for workers in sweatshops, they´re "hanging for inspiration" could mean, they wait for a good cause to survive this (Does "hanging" in this case mean "waiting"? I am an Austrian, english is not my native language lol)
Distraction keeps us away from the truth behind something. In this case distraction could be advertisement, take NIKE shoes as an examble. They tell you about how trendy, sportive and wonderfull the shoe is but not about the expoitation of the workers in the maquiladora factories. "Would you turn it up (the advertising) so I can hear? 'Cause it's reassuring when I can hear it (It only reminds me of the good aspects, not of the cruel truth behind it)

But i´ve got to admid that the comment of distill also sounds very confident!
Maybe the song includes both ideas - Only good knows what the writer thought when he wrote this song.
