5 Star – System Addict Lyrics | 9 years ago |

Laid Back – Bakerman Lyrics | 9 years ago |
getting baked |
Dire Straits – Money For Nothing Lyrics | 10 years ago |
I agree with the appliance store worker story. I think Mark Knopfler somewhat agrees with or feels sympathy for the appliance store worker. He probably wrote this song to criticise the commercialisation of the music industry, or to criticise the way society works - how many people in entertainment like actors or pop stars get paid too much and get too much attention for what they do. |
Nirvana – Dumb Lyrics | 10 years ago |
I think it's about Kurt resorting to drugs to try and cope with the other problems in his life. The song has a lot of great metaphors and the song is very underrated imo. "I'm not like them But I can pretend" He doesn't really feel like part of the drug group but he still decides to join in The sun is gone But I have a light The day is done But I'm having fun" Even though the day is over he can still light up and "have some fun". The light is the drug that makes him feel somewhat happy inside but also refers to the act of lighting up. "I think I'm dumb Or maybe just happy" He actually thinks doing drugs is stupid but he desperately wants to be happy and the drug makes him happy, or maybe the "I think I'm dumb" is a brief moment of consciousness, but then the drug takes over and tells him he's "just happy" and he doesn't care anymore. "My heart is broke But I have some glue Help me inhale And mend it with you" Talking about inhaling glue to "mend his broken heart" temporarily "We'll float around And hang out on clouds Then we'll come down And have a hangover, have a hangover" Talking about being high and then coming down. Skin the sun - he thinks he can do impossible things Fall asleep - he falls asleep after a while Wish away - he wishes away all the bad thoughts in his head The soul is cheap - he sells his soul for the drug, thus saying it is easy to sell your soul Lesson learned - he thinks he learned his lesson Wish me luck - hopes he won't do drugs again Soothe the burn - recovering from his drug trip Wake me up - comes back to reality |
Nirvana – Dumb Lyrics | 10 years ago |
I agree. Kurt Cobain himself said he hated the song Teen Spirit. There are much more better Nirvana songs than Teen Spirit I don't understand the appeal of it. |
The Rolling Stones – Sympathy for the Devil Lyrics | 10 years ago |
I like this interpretation best. Also other things that suggest it is God and not Satan: What's puzzling you is the nature of my game. When bad things appear to happen to religious people, they say God "moves in mysterious ways" or that "we cannot understand his reasons". And all the sinner saints, The Bible often shows a lot of sympathy for sinners, even seeming to encourage sin sometimes, check out Luke 7: 36-50. Also the Bible is often known for speaking in contradictory terms. Also, the first verse, "And I was 'round when Jesus Christ Had his moment of doubt and pain Made damn sure that Pilate Washed his hands and sealed his fate" is more reminiscent of God than Satan. |
Rebecca Black – Friday Lyrics | 10 years ago |
But that's already been done. The Cure made a better song about Friday. This song is just a fricking disgrace to the day of Friday. |
Salt-N-Pepa – Push It Lyrics | 10 years ago |
It's about taking a dump. |
Broken Bells – The Ghost Inside Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I definitely don't think it's "di-di-da". That's meaningless. I think it's "did it all, for that dollar." |
Broken Bells – The Ghost Inside Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I definitely don't think it's "di-di-da". That's meaningless. I think it's "did it all, for that dollar". |
Pixies – Where Is My Mind? Lyrics | 11 years ago |
It's on the wikipedia article for the song. |
Gorillaz – Feel Good Inc. Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I always thought it was "my dreams I gotta kiss them cause I don't go to sleep." |
Yello – Oh Yeah Lyrics | 12 years ago |
This song has so much meaning, so deep and sad and inspiring. |
Rebecca Black – My Moment Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I think this song is about drugs. "My head up in the clouds" "My moment It's my time, flying high, limelight" => the feeling you get when you're high "I'm getting my paper" => refers to the paper used for rolling up joints |
The Human League – Together in Electric Dreams Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I think this song is about two people who are in love keeping in contact with each other through e-mail cause in the music video they have this really old 70s computer and hence the phrase "electric dreams". But most of the lyrics otherwise don't really reference anything to that, so it could also just be about someone who is in love but the person is far away but he says they are still together, because she has influenced his life and taught him to be stronger and he still thinks or dreams about her, so he is in effect still in a relationship with her. |
Nick Lowe – I Love The Sound Of Breaking Glass Lyrics | 12 years ago |
The meaning is exactly what it says on the tin: when he's had a bad day and tired of monotony he likes breaking things just to let off a little steam. |
The Cure – Lullaby Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I believe Robert Smith when he says it's just about his arachnophobia. But I like to think it's about sexual abuse cause it seems to fit so well with that interpretation. |
Pixies – Where Is My Mind? Lyrics | 12 years ago |
This song is actually about the lead singer's experiences scuba diving in the Carribbean, and he had these very small fish trying to chase him. It says so on Wikipedia. "this very small fish trying to chase me. I don't know why–I don't know too much about fish behavior." |
4 Non Blondes – What's Up? Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I believe this song is about He-Man and his issues with drugs and his homosexuality. |
The Coral – In the Morning Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I always thought it talked about the loneliness and dark thoughts and fears that come out when you are lying awake at night trying to sleep, but when the morning comes, you are alright. |
Broken Bells – The Ghost Inside Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I believe the song is either about gold digging or prostitution, if the lyrics are "did it all, for that dollar". "The Ghost inside" is a term referring to the soul. So "without warning, she gave up, the ghost inside" may refer to how prostitutes feel dead inside after they start having sex purely for money, or saying that a gold-digger's relationship is shallow and meaningless. |
Living in a Box – Living In A Box Lyrics | 12 years ago |
hobo theme song |
Third Eye Blind – Scooby Doo, Where Are You? Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I think the last verse is actually "scooby-dooby-doo, here are you" |
Rebecca Black – Friday Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Hi, I would just like to say that I am a sufferer of WDS. It is a highly distressing disease. Sometimes on Thursday I think it's Friday. Sometimes on Monday I think it's Tuesday. Sometimes I just can't decide which seat to take! I thank you for spreading awareness about this horrific disease. |
Foster the People – Pumped Up Kicks Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Yeah, specifically I think it's about the Westroads Mall shooting rampage by Robert Hawkins in Omaha Nebraska, December 5, 2007 |
The Cure – The Last Day of Summer Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I think this song is about the end of childhood, when you grow up and the world is cold and grey. "IT USED TO BE SO EASY I NEVER EVEN TRIED" Is how about life is so easy when you're a child, everyone does things for you and you don't even have to try too hard or care too much about anything. "NOTHING I AM NOTHING I DREAM NOTHING IS NEW NOTHING I THINK OR BELIEVE IN OR SAY NOTHING IS TRUE" is all about the realisation of becoming an adult and facing your own mortality. You thought childhood would last forever, but suddenly you realise that all good things must come to an end. "BUT THE LAST DAY OF SUMMER NEVER FELT SO COLD THE LAST DAY OF SUMMER NEVER FELT SO OLD" The last day of summer refers to the last day of childhood and on this day you realise how cold the world is. |
The Vapors – Turning Japanese Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I believe it's "I'd like a million of them all round my cell" |
Lights – Drive My Soul Lyrics | 13 years ago |
In the video it is her dad in the astronaut suit so I think she is personally talking about her relationship with her father not any romantic relationship but I agree with fadedmemories I think it could be about anything e.g. religious beliefs, boyfriend/girlfriend, friends, parents, etc that acted as your guide or comfort but now that you don't have it you don't know what to do and don't know where to turn and you are lost. |
Randy Newman – Strange Things Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Toy Story, great movie. Well, I think applying to real life it means some leader of a group of friends suddenly is shunned to one side as people have a new best friend or someone to think is "cool". They are not so popular anymore and have lost all their friends. And people don't remember them or respect them like they used to. i.e. "You got someone you think you know well It turns out a stranger." |
Rebecca Black – Friday Lyrics | 13 years ago |
this song is clearly about her struggles with mental retardation. "7 a.m., waking up in the morning Got to be fresh, got to go downstairs Got to have my bowl, got to have cereal" This is about how she has to tell herself what to do in the morning. "Partying, partying (yeah) Partying, partying (yeah) Fun, fun, fun, fun" Here she is clearly practising the new words she learned in school. "7:45, we’re driving on the highway," "My friend is by my right" This is about her learning to put sentences together so she can talk about what is going on around her. "Yesterday was Thursday, Thursday Today is Friday, Friday" "Tomorrow is Saturday And Sunday comes afterwards" This emphasizes that she just learned the days of the week, so she is proud reciting her knowledge to other people showing how much she has learned. "We-we-we so excited" This bad grammar also emphasizes her retardation and simplicity. -- Meaning no disrespect to retarded people. |
El Mudo – chacarron Lyrics | 13 years ago |
the lyrics of this song are beautiful and it is a well-crafted masterpiece. Though the meaning is subtle, it touches on the many great questions of life. |
The English Beat – Mirror in the Bathroom Lyrics | 13 years ago |
This song is obviously about narcississm and being a vain mirror gazer, always checking out your reflection in shopping windows and glass tables and everthing. |
Keane – Everybody's Changing Lyrics | 13 years ago |
This song is about how society is changing and how everyone around him seems to be changing as a result of conformity and following the crowd, as a result he does not "feel the same" and as a result he is changing as well. You say you wander your own land But when I think about it I don't see how you can Because we all interact and live in society we are never quite isolated from eachother You're aching, you're breaking And I can see the pain in your eyes Says everybody's changing And I don't know why talking about how he doesn't really know what to believe so he just follows the crowd, and how changing and adapting is painful. So little time Try to understand that I'm Trying to make a move just to stay in the game I try to stay awake and remember my name But everybody's changing and I don't feel the same talks about how everything changes so quickly and its hard to keep up with the times and how he has only so little time to settle down before he has to move on again. The world is changing so much and he changes so much that he feels his identity is confused and lost. - "I try to stay awake and remember my name" You're gone from here Soon you will disappear Fading into beautiful light 'cos everybody's changing And I don't feel right talking about how as you change your identity fades as if your identity is nothing, and the past is quickly forgotten and passes into nothingness. |
David Bowie – Ashes to Ashes Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Ashes to ashes refers to how he's slowly killing himself. Strung out in heaven's high Hitting an all-time low even though he feels high, he is really incontent and feeling depressed. One flash of light but no smoking pistol talking about how the drug is killing him though it does so slowly and doesn't show |
Caesars – Jerk It Out Lyrics | 13 years ago |
i think its about masturbation Wind me up Put me down Start me off and watch me go talking about when he gets sexed up A little off center and I'm out of tune Just kickin this can along the avenue But I'm alright talking about how masturbating feels sort of indecent Cause it's easy once you know how it's done You can't stop now It's already begun once you learn how to masturbate, you can't quit You feel it running through your bones and you jerk it out you feel the urge to masturbate so you whip out your dick and jack off Shut up, hush your mouth Can't you hear you talk too loud talking about how he's afraid people e.g. parents will listen to him masturbating No I can't hear nothing because I got my head up in the clouds he's so absorbed in masturbation he doesn't hear when people come into his room or whatever I bite off anything I can chew Chasing cars up and down the avenue he's chasing girls up and down the street and anything that turns him on |
Radiohead – Everything in Its Right Place Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I think the song is about a person with OCD who is feeling comfortable or relieved that "everything is in its right place" |
Editors – When Anger Shows Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I think it is about anger issues too. "think all the things your hands could make" "How can you know what things are worth If your hands wont move to do a days work?" is talking about how when you're angry you break things which is a waste when you really could be doing something useful. and how when you mature you see that things are hard to earn for and you take better care of them. "it creeps all over you like a dull ache it pulls you to the ground like soaking wet gloves" is talking about how you lose control and grace when you're angry. "These thoughts I must not think of Dreams I cant make sense of I need you to tell me its ok" is about avoiding confusing or angry thoughts |
