| Definitely my favorite song on the new album. It feels like a good mixture between their newer sound and the first album. The voice at the beginning in the background reminds of their older stuff. The song is full of emotion, and then GDP comes in at the end, and it all culminates. Great song. | |

| This is my second favorite song on Benji. Many people have said that these songs would be just as well served as a blog post. But I think that's what makes Kozelek's song-making so impressive. The fact that his lyrics could be indistinguishable between a blog post and lyrics, and yet it's some of the most beautiful music I've heard. This song has a sort of dream-like guitar rift. I can't believe no one's commented on this song yet. Such a good song. Best song on the album for sure. Just the way the song climaxes is brilliant. I think this song is about sex. "Everything feels like touchdown on a rainy day" is what it feels like to orgasm (Touch down on a rainy day is awesome, because getting a TD in the rain is much harder than on a sunny day). The way the song advances also gives the feeling of sex. It starts off soft and sensual, before getting to the climax (around 2:25 of the song), then it calms down again, giving the very feeling of working up to an orgasm, and climaxing, and then having it be done. |

I feel that this song could be about anything. However, the way I interpret it, I feel it's about the recent shootings that happened in Newtown, CT. I don't really know much about Matt Berninger, but I feel like this could be a song he wrote to try to relate to a parent of one of the children that died. The verse: "I don't know why we had to lose The ones who took so little space They're still waiting for the east To cover what we can't erase" This verse really reminds me of something like that. the line, "The ones that took so little space" relates to the children. The shooting happened in the east. It seems through all the covering, such as gun legislation, we still can't erase the terrible events that happened in that town. Wonderful song though. Favorite song on the album. The National have done well again on this album. |

| I agree. I think with their time off from each other, the different projects, that this is the only logical step forward for the band. It's reminiscent of Box Car Racer, Angels & Airwaves, and the last album all in one song. The lyrics make it seem like they've finally realized what life is about, and how to go about it all. And most of all, I think they're finally happy with where they are as a band. All of them have different projects, and family, that they are busy with, and that's alright with them. They realize that all of these other things, which were at one time obstacles, are now the creative juices that's keeping them all together. Fantastic song. Can't wait for the show in Milwaukee on August 23rd, and "Neighborhoods" on September 27th. | |

| I just saw these guys last night before Modest Mouse. They were really great. I liked them better in concert, because the lead singers voice comes out louder than on the album. But this album is great, and this is my favorite song off the album. Very Shins-esque. | |
