The Cure – All I Want Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Hold you like a dog = doggystyle |
The Cure – A Letter to Elise Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I can't even listen to this song...brings up memories... |
The Cure – Apart Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I don't know how true this is, and I gave "The Edge" a different meaning, but I always liked how since "The Edge" was the next track, it felt like the continuation of a story of two lovers. |
The Cure – End Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I always felt that you could listen to Wish in a linear form, that it told one continuous story finally culminating with this. It sounds to me like a perfect rebuttal to "To Wish Impossible Things" |
The Cure – Cut Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I also love this song. It's definitely in the top 5 favorites for me, 2 others from Wish also happen to be up there with Open and From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea. I love the drums and cymbal work on this track. |
The Cure – Trust Lyrics | 14 years ago |
If this song doesn't get to you, you have no emotions. |
The Cure – Doing the Unstuck Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I think it's a sad song disguised in a happy tune. It reeks of desperation. These lines give it away: "But it's much too late" you say "For doing this now We should have done it then" The rest of the song after that sounds like he's just trying to salvage the relationship by trying any spontaneous thing to rekindle the flame, but she keeps shooting him down by telling him it's too late. He just doesn't want to accept it. |
The Cure – Wendy Time Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I remember reading somewhere that Wendy was a hooker. "You're everything but no-one Like the last man on earth" Robert Smith is a genius. |
The Cure – Open Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Before reading the previous posts, I always pictured a person that was drugged by something in their drink, and taken advantage of. Everything after the first "here I go again..." is about being sexually assaulted while under the influence of this drug, then they just go ahead and accept that they've become this type of person. I can see how he would feel like he's being violated by fake people that surround him due to his fame though. |
The Cure – Bare Lyrics | 14 years ago |
A very bitter break-up, after a long time together... |
The Cure – Jupiter Crash Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I agree with blackit, It's about him being so into something spectacular and bigger than them both, and trying to share it with the girl, but all she can think of is fooling around, and missing the point of why he took her to the sea in the first place. |
The Cure – This Is a Lie Lyrics | 14 years ago |
This is about how we all think we have figured out the grand scheme of things, but fail to realize that no one can really know. |
The Cure – The Last Day of Summer Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Best intro ever. I love this song, quite possibly one of the most emotionally impacting pieces of music I've ever heard. |
The Cure – Maybe Someday Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I love how subtle the organ is in the background, but it's such an essential part of the composition. |
The Cure – Watching Me Fall Lyrics | 14 years ago |
It's purely about sex. He's not literally falling, but he's describing the penetration from his point of view on top. I'VE BEEN WATCHING ME FALL FOR IT SEEMS LIKE YEARS WATCHING ME GROW SMALL, I WATCH ME DISAPPEAR The flashes where he describes what she looks like are what he notices in the midst of passion, as we tend to become pretty stupid when having sex. Just noticing the obvious. HER HAIR IS BLACK, THE BED IS WHITE... Then the climax, inside, hence the "wont come back at all" I'VE BEEN WATCHING ME GO FOR IT MUST BE YEARS WATCHING ME GET SLOW, I WATCH ME DISAPPEAR AND ONE DAY, I KNOW, I WON'T COME BACK AT ALL... |
The Cure – Out of This World Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I always thought it was about a fleeting relationship, where you have these brief, intense moments before you have to return to your mundane everyday routine. |
The Cure – From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I've always believed it's about an adulterous affair between two former lovers. Either both or one of them has a spouse, but they still come together because they fill each other's needs and they have history together. "I know this can't be wrong" I say (And I'll lie to keep her happy) "As long as I know that you know That today I belong right here with you" How much more can we use it up? Drink it dry? Take this drug? Looking for something forever gone But something we will always want... The edge of the deep green sea is where they go to meet so that they'll be away from anyone that will recognize them. A different name Same old game Love in vain And miles and miles and miles and miles and miles Away from home again... |
