Drake – Hotline Bling Lyrics 8 years ago
The lyrics are self-explanatory. While going through his IG or whatever social network he was on, this guy checks up a girl he had pretty deep feelings for. Seeing her new life and the brand new person she is, he goes through a plethora of emotions: he's jealous, surprised, curious, angry, nostalgic, etc. When they were together, she was different than the other girls. Always being the type to stay at home, never really wanting to go out, sweet, a bit naïve- she was a good girl. He particularly remembers the calls he would receive from her late at night, wanting to make love, something that was important for both of them, something he had looked forward to.

Unfortunately, he had to leave her, I'm assuming for career purposes. Cue the nasty fight where tears drop and shit hits the fan, where she doesn't want him to leave but he has to. This ultimately brings the guy back to the position he is in. He looks through her pictures, and he has no idea who this new woman is. She's getting drunk in the club, wearing skimpy clothes with friends he doesn't know of. What is she doing? Why did I put myself through so much guilt leaving her when she was going to be acting anyway? She ended up partying and traveling just like me, so this shouldn't be my fault. Who is she anymore? He's sad that the girl he once loved is a stranger to him now. Even when they try to be civilized, they don't get along. But still, even when all this self-doubt and sadness is happening, he still hopes she hasn't found someone yet. He doesn't want anyone to see what he saw.

Frank Ocean – Thinkin' Bout You Lyrics 12 years ago
I have two interpretations for this song.

1) It's about a guy who really falls for a girl like he's never fallen before. It's really the first time he's felt something this strong. And though he was sure she felt the same, that scared part of him makes him doubt himself. Then he finds himself trying to play it cool as if he wasn't so in love ("I don't like you I just thought you were cool enough to kick it since you don't think.. etc.) when in reality, he wants to spend forever with her, but is just scared that the feeling isn't mutual.

Then the next one

2) He just went through a break-up and doesn't believe he can get through it. They broke it off because she believes that he doesn't love her or doesn't show it well, when he really did but just didn't know how to show his affection.

Natasha Bedingfield – Again Lyrics 12 years ago
I'm such an idiot. This song finally clicked, literally 10 seconds ago. I always saw the literal meaning, and thought "Wow.. this song's pretty direct" and of course, it has a bit more sincerity. It's about going through life and having so much pain in it, only to mean that one person who makes you re-think everything. Where, in the end of the day, you say, "You were so worth it."

Erin Mccarley – Lovesick Mistake Lyrics 12 years ago
I agree with dameamor. It's about a girl who's so strung for this intriguing guy who she realizes she shouldn't be with. He really phases her and effects her, which seems like just another reason for her to not be with him. But still, she doesn't even realize how much she's fawning over him when in her heart she knows she can't.

Emma-Lee – Flow Lyrics 13 years ago
First off, I'd just like to say that this song is one of my all-time favorites! It's so deep and her voice is so mesmerizing, it literally makes me ache hearing it.

The lyrics are pretty direct, but could be said for different situations. Above all, the girl is just heartbroken because she can't be with the one she loves. She's in a long distance relationship because her partner had a job or something along those lines(ei: with an ocean in between, i'll wait for you, but I understand what you need to do, and it's a little hard cause I've known it from the start,
So how can I be mad at you) that's crumbling, and it just kills her because before he left, he promised her that nothing would change and their love would always remain. There's nothing left in the relationship except them actually saying it's over aloud (ei: tell me it's done so I can leave, just let me go).

It can also be taken as this girl who's going through a break-up and she's just going crazy and missing her partner so much.

Green River Ordinance – Endlessly Lyrics 13 years ago
Along with 'Everything You Are', I love this song. Though xjessicaax's comment basically says what the song's about, I always thought this was about his dream girl. When he sings "the days I can't get over" and "for you I'll always wait," it just sounds like he's just so hopeful in meeting the girl of his dreams.

Anthony Green – She Loves Me So Lyrics 13 years ago
I love this song. One of my best friends showed me this and I was head over heels about it!

Like what AfflictedWhore said, I think its his girlfriend going somewhere far away and how he'll be okay just as long as he knows she loves him. Basically just him getting sad about it and to not look at other guys, like with the whole "Just keep your lonely hand in your pockets/eyes to yourself and fold away all your best clothes." He doesn't want her to touch or look at anyone else while she's there, or to look pretty for anyone other than himself.

Susie Suh – All I Want Lyrics 14 years ago
This is a completely different perception of mine, but it kind of sounds like it could be about an addiction to something, like drugs maybe. She knows that she should stop because it only gives her a temporary happiness, and it's taking over her, but in the end she doesn't care. Like the part
"Too many times, I have wondered
What all trying is for
You come around, I feel so down, I'm gonna drown
Because I know that you're falling short"

It's describing how taking drugs can't fill the void enough that's in her, but she does it anyway.
& this part ;
"And too many times, I have wanted
To turn around and walk away
Knowing deep inside
You can't provide what I need from you anyway"

She wants to stop because she knows drugs won't really give her the happiness she wants. & in the chorus ..

"But do you know?
It doesn't change the way I feel about you at the end of the day
Because I know
That all I want is what you got
All I want is what you got"

She wants the effect that her addiction gives people, like power. This could be totally off, but if you read it, it kind of makes sense. (=

Sara Bareilles – City Lyrics 14 years ago
To me, this song is personally really talking about Sarah Bareilles and how her fame has changed her lifestyle: being in the lights, parties, bars, and even the people, just everything is so big and flashy, but it just doesn't suit her. She can't enjoy or relate to that new life she has, and she just wants to go back to her old home. Where she just wants that someone to be in her arms.

You may interpret this song totally different than i did, but there's never a wrong answer. That's why i love Sara Bareilles and just the nature of music in general. You can always connect to the lyrics no matter what. (:

Maroon 5 – Must Get Out Lyrics 14 years ago
Wow, i absolutely LOVE your translation of everything. It makes so much sense to me and it really does work. At first, i assumed that she was talking about him the whole time, like parts such as "This not goodbye she said,It is just time for me to rest my head". Maybe she's talking to her boyfriend & is leaving him. And also the part "She does not walk she runs instead,Down these jagged streets and into my bed" signifies how strong their friendship is, and how much they reply on each other. Which is why he's inlove with her.

Maroon 5 – Must Get Out Lyrics 14 years ago
First off, I LOVE THIS SONG, let alone Maroon 5. They're such talented writers and musicians. Oh, & Adam Lavigne(lead singer) is hot. LOL well anyways.

I think this is about a relationship that is obviously falling apart for both of them. He's hurting her but doesn't know how to react or what to do, and she's cheating on him but is still inlove with him. They both feel lost but for some reason they just can't let go of each other because they know they love each other. It seems like they both had forgotten about actually listening, talking, and loving each other, like where the song goes "Fumbling through your dresser door forgot what I was looking for,Try to guide me in the right direction,Making use of all this time,Keeping everything inside, Close my eyes and listen to you cry." He's looking for things that may signify if she's really cheating on her(yeah i know, translating everything so literally, oh well :P) convincing himself that that's what might be best to help the relationship, but he hears her crying, and realizes that focusing on loving her is possibly the only "right direction".

We Are The Take – Montreal Love Song Lyrics 14 years ago
I love this song soo much, its complexity and how there's SOO much meaning to the words, but you just can't figure it out. :P

Well, this may not even be close to what may be the real story, but i think it's about a guy who fell in love -- DEEPLY inlove, which i think the line "Dug a hole; now I can't get out " was referring to as a metaphor. But as he's falling inlove with her and go further on in their relationship, she ends up hurting him really badly, maybe cheated on him or just broken up with him. For this reason, he closes off everyone, and doesn't want to have to experience that hurt he dealt before.

Consequently, from doing that, he ended up feeling empty as ever , for example "Hide away the love that I've found, Built a wall. Now I can't get round". I think the wall was a metaphor for him building walls around his heart and emotions. He still has feelings for this girl, but it's hurting him more knowing that she's moving on, and he can't do anything about it. Lyrics that emphasize her moving on is "Keep your head up high,Keep mine dug in the ground". She's slowly drifting away, ie "Don't think I can find you now; Not this time".

Just a thought, and my opinion. (:

Joanne Accom – I Don't Know Lyrics 14 years ago
Wow, i can't believe there's no comments on this song! :O One of my favorite songs haha. But anyway .. ;

This song is about a girl who is still deeply inlove with her ex boyfriend, but knows that he didn't treat her right in the end. They had an amazing relationship at first and she loved who he was, but all of a sudden he changed into a different person which led to the breakup. Alot of times in this song, she's debating and arguing with herself if she needs him or is better off without him. For example :

"Can't believe that I found a love so true
You don't care for me, you don't understand"
or "Now it's over and you don't comprehend
That there's no more now baby, please take me back"
There's a big difference about her view on him. She first says that she is so inlove, then explains basically what a jerk he was.

I also concluded that she's still not over her ex, but she still wants to get together with him despite all of his mistakes and all of the hurt he's caused. She knows inside that he doesn't love her, but she's still lingering on to the memories when they WERE inlove, when everything was okay. Those memories make her believe that they should be together, even when their broken up and he's still obviously not inlove with her, the way he doesn't keep in contact or even conversates with her.

Kelly Clarkson – Already Gone Lyrics 14 years ago
It has a very simple message, but is still REALLY touches me and is very passionate.
She's in a relationship where they are always fighting and arguing, making each other cry, but they are still inlove. She only gives him up NOT for her sake, but for his. All she really wants is someone who won't hurt him and make him cry, even if it means not being with her. She is trying to fight her feelings as its hard for her to move on, but she reminds herself that if she really does love him, she'll let him go.

That was also what i thought! (: Haha, except a little bit different, but the concepts are the same. That's what's so amazing about this song .. There's endless possibilities. I'm glad though that someone mostly had the same opinion as me, so I don't look like such a loser. LOL

Sara Bareilles – Gravity Lyrics 14 years ago
I love how this song is very interpretive & has multiple meanings to it. I totally agree with the alcohol idea, and most definitely the idea of someone wanting to leave their relationship because they know they aren't right for each other, but she always runs back to him.

Another interpretation i made was a really strong friendship, and the girl is falling inlove with him, but she knows that they can't be together. She tries to let him go emotionally, but he always makes her back inlove every time. My interpretation is really debatable, but it was just a thought! (:
