Slayer – Americon Lyrics 13 years ago
The song's riffs are really good, but I just tried something out for the hell of it. I like the other Slayer slow tempo songs (ex: Skeletons of Society), but this one I thought could use a pickup in speed. I increased the tempo by 15% in an audio program and the result really kicks major ass (especially the drums).

On the song title, I think by Americon they are saying that it is an American "con" (as in lying or trying to deceive people) stating that the war is about anything else but the oil.

The Cure – Underneath the Stars Lyrics 15 years ago
I love this song. To me, it has the same dreamy and ethereal qualities and even some of the lyrical imagery of "This Twilight Garden." These songs both describe a true and unadultered sense of the love and peace brought by the one you truly and deeply love. I find immense beauty and painterly imagery in the lyrics and ambience of both songs. Robert truly chose the right song to start off the album.

The Cure – Your God Is Fear Lyrics 15 years ago
This song seems very simple for me to understand. You have to view the world in a naturalistic/atheistic way, as Robert Smith seems to see it. Many of his songs have a different meaning when viewed this way. I share his way of looking at life and this song is a critique of the character of god, and the reasons why people hold on to these beliefs. The song tells the person for whom this is intended that this is it and what you see is what you get, and seems to tell the person to try and contemplate this idea in saying, "just for a moment feel it inside feel it alive, feel your desire feel it conspire feel it inspire."

For someone for whom there is no supernatural and only the natural world exists, this is the one and only life. But instead of being something which causes dread or depression, one has to see it as your unique single chance to live which goes by "in the blink of an eye" and is held as precious.

In the lines "oh now all you are, is all there is, nothing ever moved in any of this," he flat out tells the listener that there is no god who took part in setting the universe, and that belief is based on fear of the uncertain. But reassures that there is nothing to fear in this.

The Cure – This Twilight Garden Lyrics 15 years ago
This song means so much to me. It is incredibly beautiful and full of visual imagery that convey the wonderful emotions behind this song. It is a true treasure to the senses. One thing I wish to know, is what type of effects were used in the guitar with the warbly sound. I know it has delay and probably some kind of phaser, but I have never heard anything like it before.

The Cure – One Hundred Years Lyrics 15 years ago
Hello to everyone. Tell my what you think of my wild interpretation on this incredible song. I have read that Robert Smith sometime bases songs on stories such as in "Killing an Arab." My take on this song is that it involves a first person view of a main female character who is infiltrating undercover into some kind of oppressive regime or organization. This song gives me imagery more along a story setting than an expression of feelings.

This story seems to me to be set during a uprising/revolution. The woman seems to be entering a very dangerous situation into the heart of some organization (perhaps to spy or as an assassin) and is driven towards some objective by "The death of her father pushing her," and is stroking her hair "as the patriots are shot" and trying hard to please or convince someone in order to gain higher access. I think she is in fear for her life as described in "Creeping up the stairs in the dark Waiting for the death blow" and is discovered and executed as she feared, "The ribbon tightens round my throat I open my mouth And my head bursts open A sound like a tiger thrashing in the water."

The song's intro "It doesn't matter if we all die" is a statement of assurance not dispair because the people in a setting where "Over and over We die one after the other after the other..." in this setting where the people feel like they have been under "A hundred years of blood." I take the intro as a statement of rather dying than giving in.
