to me this song is about a love you had once but she's moved on... & she wants you to think you never had it. i think this happend to lou for sure also because the SJ line "women never really feign" its the same kind of theme.
basically the song has a feeling of wanting to reject what happend... wanting to move past it because it hurts. but on the other hand the hurt feels kind of good.. lets you know your alive. lets you know you tried & didn't just let it pass. so he's admiting she lingers inside him, this hurts him, but he lets it happen. it's like a confession.

i ordered the One Foot In The Grave from the Beck website & a couple weeks later they emailed me this song... i don't know if thats the only way its been released.
its pretty awsome tho... i think he's kinda bummed that a girls bailing on him, & mabe thinking that she'll change her mind at some time but by then it might be too late... he'll have gotten tired of it. moved on. over it. done for.
kind of a sad & o well tone to it. its just great. |

it is available on CD... sort of. i own it. Sonic Enemy pressed like 2,000 before Beck put a stop to it.

could be its about escaping w/ drugs "drifting this wave" - "walking these streets" - "riding this train" "jumping into the volcano" "i don't want to fall in" just want to warm my bones.
like getting close but not being completly overcome by it. not having much of a care but not completly wanting to give in to it. something happend and you have not a care so you become wreckless to try and get over it...yet still having some hope...somewhere.
