I do love this song, and iggy pop. That said, Lou Reed is the inventor of punk rock. Iggy was even inspired by lou reed. I am not cutting iggy short, the stooges were probably the first purely punk band, but I mean, Lou reed really started it all. I mean unless you want to go back, to the first punk-type song, and you could even say the beatles. But that's a stretch. But fuck the sex pistols. Punk started here |

i think it's sort of a combination of responses already posted. It is about drugs, two people who do drugs together. But the line "pour water on me til I live again" implies some sort of O.D. perhaps it is about two friends who do drugs together, but one does too much and has to save the other one.

yeah this band is pretty amazing, and I only recently got into them, but to me they are up there with the velvet underground as one of the great American bands. Speaking of the velvet underground, does this songs music remind you of European son at all? like the guitar riff at the beginning of European son is similar to the main riff of this jam |
