Metric – Lost Kitten Lyrics | 11 years ago |
To me, it seems more like an underage girl that's living on the street and most likely prostituting herself. And she is picked up by an older man who feels guilty about the situation and tries to do the right thing but is tempted and maybe gives in. He tries to take care of her so he feels less guilty. I think the you've got my eyes,is more like you've got my eyes watching you. |

I always thought this was about getting over an addiction to cocaine. White Gold being slang for Cocaine. Also, cocaine withdrawal can strain your vision. |

I agree with the relationship interpretation. I think she's infatuated with someone that's not her current lover but wants her current lover to hate her so she doesn't feel guilty. I also think the sugar factory may be referring to the sugar factory in Williamsburg because she lived in Williamsburg, Brooklyn around the time this was written. |
Metric – Siamese Cities Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I think it's about the end of a relationship. She's knows it's over but still debating if she should go see the person again because she doesn't want it to be over. I think that's why she says "Why do you leave me in between siamese cities?" because her mind is going back and forth between the two options(stay or go). I always thought the Siamese cities may be referring to Manhattan(since she references Little Italy) and Brooklyn. The two cities are connected to each other by two bridges, multiple subway paths and a tunnel. I love this song. I wish Metic played it live still. |
