ODESZA – It's Only (feat. Zyra) Lyrics | 8 years ago |
ok, i found out this was used in a documentary called Denali. I think rather than the subject not allowing the singer to save him/her, the subject CANNOT be saved. And that's what causes the pain for the singer. |

@[cheesesteak:9882] dang, now i gotta find out how to message Odesza or Zyra and figure this out... |
ODESZA – It's Only (feat. Zyra) Lyrics | 8 years ago |
No idea the meaning. But i love the beats, song, and lyrics. But hey, I'll take a stab, say what I think when I hear the song/read the lyrics in regards to my own personal situations. She wanted to sincerely help someone out of love. But that person, in the long run, would not allow it. And of course, the love can turn to resentment in instances like these. And to her, the person is now dead. Lyrics are beautifully juxtaposed to the tone of the song. |
Future Islands – Seasons (Waiting on You) Lyrics | 10 years ago |
I believe this is about waiting for someone to come around or change to what you want/expect them to. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. Sometimes they don't change until after you give up waiting for them - and that is what they lose (3rd line, 3rd stanza) |
Dredg – Zebraskin Lyrics | 10 years ago |
I prefer this interpretation. I don't think the song is about alcoholism leading to lost friends/significant other, as many seem to say. But rather, losing friends/significant other leads to alcoholism. |
Mazzy Star – Look On Down From The Bridge Lyrics | 10 years ago |
heard this for the first time tonight from a show called Rick & Morty - episode Rick Potion #9. Haunting time to play it in the show (you'd have to watch). But it's haunting me now due to its profoundness... |
Mazzy Star – Look On Down From The Bridge Lyrics | 10 years ago |
whether or not its the intention of the song, I agree FearlessBoy. And I'm feeling it so hard right now...literally crying and staring at pictures of my ex-gf when she was a kid...thinking how bad i broke that little girl's heart. and now she's breaking mine... |
Phantogram – Nightlife Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Also, she rotates "is" and "was" on the last few lines regarding love. Mixing up the tense, so it goes: "Love is the only thing I ever needed, I ever needed Love was the only thing I ever needed Love is the only thing I ever needed, I ever needed " Not sure if that has any significance (i.e. she was suicidal and is now dead...or maybe she did find love?) |
Phantogram – Nightlife Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Yeah that's what I was thinking. Although not necessarily a prostitute. Just a an easy girl (possibly an emotional slut, wittingly or not) who wants some genuine love and affection. Poor girls... If only they didn't mind sharing a man. I can genuinely love them all! |
The Smashing Pumpkins – In the Arms of Sleep Lyrics | 13 years ago |
It's about sleep. Few people seem to have got it. She = sleep |
Atmosphere – Die Motherfucker Die Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Great work, glad someone took the time to put this one up. One of my favs for sure. Some corrections on what I think the lyrics are: "SWARM of locusts" "my temper's TEMPERATURE sky rockets" "I STARE AT you in contempt" Oh and since this is a song meaning site. I think it's about the narrator hating himself, obviously. But not enough to kill himself ("I'd shoot you in your face if I thought it would relieve the tension"). I don't think it's an esteem issue, it's probably just due to some personality flaw or vice he can't control that is directly affecting him. |

Atmosphere – The Waitress Lyrics | 15 years ago |
You take it out on me That you're all alone When you know you got your own closet full of hollow bones i think this is the evidence proving he's the real father. She wouldn't "take it out" (blame, yell at, whatever) on him for no reason unless it was really her father. And how else would he know about her secrets? |
Atmosphere – The Woman with the Tattooed Hands Lyrics | 15 years ago |
superkoolkid is an idiot. Rap is an element of hip-hop. It's annoying how people think Rap = hardcore, gangsta, no skill but hip-hop = smooth, flowing, thought-provoking. you can't have hip-hop w/o rap... anyway, i try not to read TOO deeply into some lyrics. For some reason, I take this song at face value. Slug was talking to some older lady who started banging herself. He got uncomfortable and left. However, it was still a very significant event due to their conversation perhaps or after some reflection? |
