My Chemical Romance – The World Is Ugly Lyrics 15 years ago
*eyeroll* MCR are not selling out, people. Please... just because they're popular doesn't mean they don't deserve it or that they don't put everything they have into their music... because they do.

There are FIVE people in MCR: Bob, Frank, Gerard, Mikey, and Ray.

...My Chemical Romance? Sounding like a boy band? Wow... that almost made me laugh.

And to XxforgottenonexX: There are versions on YouTube with pretty crappy sound, but... they still work. ...and... it's Mikey, hun. Not Mickey. Mikey. Maybe it's just a spelling error you made on accident, but... *shrugs*. Just so you know.

This song is absolutely beautiful. I'm not exactly sure of the meaning yet; there are so many versions of the lyrics, it's kind of hard to keep track.

My Chemical Romance – Thank You For The Venom Lyrics 15 years ago
I think this song COULD be about someone stuffing a religion down another's throat, but I really think it's about trying to force someone to be something they're not. He's basically saying that "if you don't accept who I am, then fuck you, because I won't follow your rules. I'm not going to be another clone like everyone else, because their isn't a reason to give up my individuality."

It's a pretty rebellious song, and I can definitely relate to it. It's one of My favorite My Chem songs, too. I love it.

My Chemical Romance – Blood Lyrics 15 years ago
I think this song may sound a little funny, such as, "'cause I'm such an awful fuck... (why thank you!)" but I don't think the true meaning is all that funny, really... at least part of it isn't. I think it's about Gerard... the way he feels about the pressure of being a celebrity. Let me clarify:

"Well they encourage your complete cooperation
Send you roses when they think you need to smile
I can't control myself because I don't know how
And they love me for it honestly I'll be here for a while"

...they (they meaning - some, not all of - the fans and the media) want him to cooperate; to do and say whatever they think he should do, and they try to do do him a favor when they feel like he's not acting their way. The fans, maybe, love that he's "slightly off-center" so he'll stay, no matter how much crap he gets from some people.

"So give them blood, blood
Gallons of the stuff
Give them all that they can drink and it will never be enough
Give them blood, blood, blood
Grab a glass because there's going to be a flood."

..."blood" is a metaphor for songs, albums, videos, interviews, whatever. The media asks for everything he's got and more, and he gives it, but they still ask him to do more and more.

"A celebrated man amongst the gurneys
They can fix me proper with a bit of luck
The doctors and the nurses they adore me so
But it's really quite alarming cause I'm such an awful fuck (why thank you!)"

...this part actually makes me laugh. He's saying that, really, it's gonna be veeeerrrryyy hard to "fix me proper" and to make him be like everyone else, because, truthfully, he isn't. The doctors and the nurses are the fans, and he kind of finds it ironic that "they adore me so" because he, in his own humbled opinion, he is not who you would think someone would look up to. I actually think, though, that "such an awful fuck" might not be what HE thinks about himself but more what some other people think about him, and he just laughs and spits it back in their faces because he doesn't really care what they think. ("Why thank you!")

"I'm the kind of human wreckage that you love!"

... Human wreckage... well... I think he sees himself, maybe, as having a really dark personality with fucked-up thoughts, you know? And the fans (including me XD) love him for it.

I think this song has, basically, two sides: the side where he's kind of bitter about people wanting him to do more and more, while the other side is just him finding it really funny that he, who was an outcast for most of his life, is suddenly admired and loved by all these people. I think he finds it oddly ironic and probably really funny.

My Chemical Romance – Cementery Drive (Hidden Message) Lyrics 15 years ago
It's really hard to hear this on the track, but you can hear Gerard whispering it. You just have to listen carefully.

It's just one of the layers of Cemetery Drive. It may be just another part of the song, or it could mean something more personal to the guys. None of us will probably ever know. Nevertheless, I think it's extremely sad, and it kind of makes me wonder what they were thinking about when they wrote this section of the song.

My Chemical Romance – Disenchanted Lyrics 15 years ago
Eh, sorry... I accidentally submitted it before I was done...

I spent my high school career
Spit on and shoved to agree
So I could watch all my heroes sell a car on TV.
Bring out the old guillotine
We'll show 'em what we all mean

... This part always makes me want to cry. It's taking about when you are in high school, things are cruel, and there's a lot of peer pressure to become who you aren't and to have heroes that really don't deserve to be heroes - uncaring celebrities that are just in it for the money. And when you decide to be unique, they "bring out the old guillotine" and try to bring you down as much as possible.

Basically, I believe this song is about, literally, being "Disenchanted" when you escape the safety of your homes when you are young. You grow up doing what everyone else does to get in and you look up to people who don't deserve to be heroes in anyone's eyes, and then when you get out in the real world, you see all the ugliness, the in-acceptance this world has to offer. This is such a beautiful song, and every time I hear it it just makes me want to cry. MCR really gets a lot of things... they're amazingly clever, and this song just proves it.

My Chemical Romance – Disenchanted Lyrics 15 years ago
I think this is my favorite song in the entire world; the meaning is so strong to me. Here's my interpretation of what it means:

"Well I was there on the day
They sold the cause for the queen
And when the lights all went out, we watched our lives on the screen
I hate the ending myself,
But it started with an alright scene"

.......... I think this part is talking about how so many people's lives are molded together, and no one is unique - "we watched our lives on the screen." I also think this part is about stereotyping, and when he says "they sold the cause for the queen," he's saying that the people lost the meaning in life to follow the crowd.

It was the roar of the crowd that gave me heartache to sing
It was a lie when they smiled and said
"You won't feel a thing."
And as we ran from the cops we laughed so hard It would sting

........I think when he says "it was the roar of the crowd... heartache to sing," he's talking about the shallow bands/singers out there who just perform for the fame. When it says "it was a lie when they smiled..." he's saying that they told kids in particular that if you go with what everything else is doing, it'll all be perfect... but it's really not.

If I'm so wrong (so wrong, so wrong)
how can you listen all night long?
(night long, night long)
Now will it matter after I'm gone?
because you never learned a God-damned thing

... I think this part is talking about MCR themselves. They're asking, "If we're so dark, so bad, so WRONG, how can all of these fans truly care about us and say we save lives?" And when it says "Now will it matter..." it is saying that when they're long gone and not famous anymore, the people who don't dare to be different won't learn anything from their messages.

You're just a sad song with nothing to say
About a life long wait for a hospital stay
Well if you think that I'm wrong,
This never meant nothing to you

... this part, I believe, is about the bands who don't really have a message ("you're just a sad song") and the "life-long wait for a hospital stay" is about people not living life to its fullest and not making a difference in the world.

I spent my high school career
Spit on and shoved to agree
So I could watch all my heroes sell a car on TV.
Bring out the old guillotine
We'll show 'em what we all mean

... This part always makes me want to cry. Their tal

Yeah, Yeah, Oh

If i'm so wrong (so wrong, so wrong)
How can you listen all night long?
(night long, night long)
How will it matter long after i'm gone
Because you never learned a god damned thing

You're just a sad song with nothing to say about a life long wait for a hospital stay
Well if you think that i'm wrong,
This never meant nothing to you

So go,
Go, just go, run away.
Now where did you run to? and where did you hide?
Go find another way...

Woah oh, Woah oh...

You're just a sad song with nothing to say about a life long wait for a hospital stay
And if you think that i'm wrong, this never meant nothing to you, come on

You're just a sad song with nothing to say about a life long wait For a hospital stay
And if you think that i'm wrong, this never meant Nothing to you

At all...
At all...
At all...

My Chemical Romance – Give 'Em Hell Kid Lyrics 16 years ago
This song is most definitely about teenage pregnancy.

"I took a train outta New Orleans
and they shot me full of ephedrine.
This is how we like to do it in the murder scene"

...... ephedrine is a drug used as a diet pill and bronchodilator and when it is taken in excess, it can kill a woman's baby. I'm guessing she either had an actual abortion, killed her baby on purpose with her drug, or definitely thought about it.

"If you were here,
I'd never have a fear.
So go on live your life.
But I miss you more than I did yesterday."

..... basically, the guy left. She wants him to live his life normally, but she still misses him like hell.

"(you're beautiful!)"

..... she's remembering what the guy told her. He tells her she's beautiful, and it's probably an empty statement and she knows it, but she can't help but love and miss him.

"Well I'm a total wreck and almost every day.
Like the firing squad or the mess you made."

...... she's saying that because she's pregnant, she's a total wreck like "the mess you [the guy she's talking to] made"- the mess is getting her knocked up.

"Well don't I look pretty walking down the street
in the best damn dress I own?"

...... she's probably saying here that she can no longer fit in her best dresses, that she's so broke from the baby needing care that she can't afford a nice one, or that because she (a)either had an abortion or (b) killed her child with an overdose of ephedrine, so she still is thin and as pretty as she was before this whole mess.

"We are made from the sharpest things you say.
We are young and we don't care.
Your dreams and your hopeless hair.
We never wanted it to be this way.
For all our lives.
Do you care at all?"

..... She's saying that they're both young and that if they had the baby, they would have to give up their dreams and their childish worries like "your hopeless hair." Neither of them wanted her to become pregnant. Now that the guy left, she's doubting he even cares.

Just wanted to add my theories.

Cheers! ~ just_another_cog
