Blonde Redhead – Chi É e Non É Lyrics | 13 years ago |
the writer of these lyrics has written them in a way that, when translated literally, make a lot more sense in english than they do in the conventional construction of italian grammar. or maybe it's just my weirdness that it makes sense to me. either way, it's definitely about confusion and not wanting to be in a relationship due to feeling inferior to the other, because the other knows what s/he wants, who s/he is, where s/he is... and the narrator knows not. the narrator is incredibly upset about it to the point of so it seems suicide (I don't want to wake up-- to think of you) |
Len – Steal My Sunshine Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Can you just say late 90s pop?? This song randomly popped into my head as the weather's just started to change up where I live. Immediately as I started listening I got visions of being on my school bus and hearing this almost every morning...little would I know, eleven years later I'd be here mesmerized by the way this song epitomizes my life/summer, once it's here. It's wonderfully written... |

PJ Harvey – Plants And Rags Lyrics | 13 years ago |
After listening to this song for some time I've been getting visions of holocaust survivors |
PJ Harvey – Highway 61 Revisited Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I feel like the two aren't even comparable. Too much to be appreciated in them both. |
Sol Seppy – Enter One Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I think the lyrics speak of the unity among each and every one of us, regardless to our belief in God(s) or the absence thereof, whether we practice Islam, Hinduism, Judaism, Christianity, Animism, Atheism, Agnosticism...etc. I feel that this is her depiction of heaven, this song, and the idea that we all come into one. I could not any more strongly agree. |
Björk – All Neon Like Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I just feel like it's about sex and the nourishment it can be. so simple yet so complex: a glowing, neon-threaded spider web to capture those who subject themselves to it, and can cause to those once captured pain, struggle, hurt, anger, anxiety, but she's saying let's go back to how it was when we started, fetus-style. because this will heal you. it's all in your mind, anyway. but either way, I'm here and you're here. so let's... |

Sarah Blasko – Remorse Lyrics | 13 years ago |
lol, so it's called Long Time. and already posted. so please ignore this comment. |
Tegan and Sara – Wrists Lyrics | 13 years ago |
My guess is that pehaps this song is a matter of Sara realizing how much she scrutinizes others when she has to decide if she dates them and it's gotten to the point where she won't date someone based off of the sizes of her wrists...it may also be a metaphor for the ridiculous peeves she has for the people she dates, for what she's looking for? who knows, it's my guess. |
Sarah Blasko – Don't U Eva Lyrics | 13 years ago |
so, after a multitude of listens to this song, I began to hear it like this: you've got away with words -- meaning that her subject has come thus far with using only words, "you've got away with them (so far)" I think it adds a really new and fresh perspective to the song, and then there's the whole idea of "having a way with words," which- from this song- Blasko certainly seems to possess. |
Sol Seppy – Slo Fuzz Lyrics | 13 years ago |
thebombdotcom <3 you're not lying ADORE. ADORE. My ex from a year (almost to this day) is all I think about when I hear this song, how I used to wait at my computer for him to text me or message me, sit by my phone waiting for him to talk...and it'd always seem like he cared so little, and I cared so much, and this song captures that feeling too too well |

Alloy Ark – Columbian Coffee Lyrics | 13 years ago |
"Your face is sad, can't say I'm sorry" A - narrator of song B - companionytypeperson I think this is about how A pushed B away because B wasn't ready for commitment or at least not for a real relationship, even though A really misses B. A knows, however, that heshe can't have B, anyway. |

Sarah Blasko – The Woman By The Well Lyrics | 13 years ago |
does anyone else think it is likely to be "You" seeing as the title alludes to the biblical story of the woman by the well? in that story apparently a woman, a whore, was approached by Jesus while she was drawing water from a well, and he knew all her secrets and troubles and confronted her openly about them all right there at the well...it dumbfounded as well as amazed her and inspired her to believe in him. just a thought. I think, upon months of listens, that this is actually about a woman who has been through so many troubles in her life that she barely recognizes herself. She knows that she's alive through the help of G.d -- or, I suppose, whoever, whatever she believes in-- and that He's made all this happen to her for some reason or another...she restates her desire for simply His presence, and in having so, His help. at first she had been hesitant to believe in Him, as the second verse states of her loneliness and how He/"You can't know" all her secrets...but the first verse more or less argues with this, telling herself that it's actually the truth, that He knows...and now she just wants Him there with her. |

Meg & Dia – One Sail Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Yes, for some reason I'm compelled to believe it's about their grandparents...I don't remember from where I learned this. It may be in a blog/vlog somewhere if you follow the development of this album. |
Russian Red – Cigarettes Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I think about liking someone who doesn't return the favor. cigarettes, they only hurt you while they may give you pleasure-- in the long one every cigarette is a waste ; maybe she relates every moment she spends with this someone to a cigarette |
Marina and the Diamonds – Rootless Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I think Marina just relates the feeling of being entirely on her own away from anything that makes her feel comfort. it is really a powerful song she has. |
Mew – 156 (HtWIWM version) Lyrics | 13 years ago |
this song is about losing someone to drugs, I think, either physically by means of death or emotionally by detachment from a former relationship... further proven by the "time to burn" in this version. of course it's only my interpretation but it holds strong for me. |
Mew – 156 Lyrics | 13 years ago |
+ also, the lyrics are missing the "Go!" before the absolutely kickass synthy/guitar arrangement, two measures(?) before the 156s. it's more audible on the half the world version than this one, but it's there-- every time it makes the song for me, just makes the song <3 |

Tegan and Sara – Walking with a Ghost Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I really like the ambiguity in the lyrics, because typically people say, "you're out of your mind" and so you assume: you're out of my mind either refers to the person talking to himself about forgetting someone else or the person talking completely to himself, just as two separate entities -- and then it simply says: out of my mind as if he could be saying, (I'm) out of my mind (for thinking this way) and then also: no matter which way you go, no matter which way you stay it could be taken in so many ways; "where ever you go, no matter what happens, you're still here" is how I prefer it. but if he's talking to himself, it sounds like he's got a serious disorder, where he'd be out of his mind... don't mind my lack of using the feminine pronoun, btw, I just translate my thoughts in regard to myself because that's usually how they make most sense. |
t.A.T.u. – White Robe (English Version) Lyrics | 13 years ago |
On May 27, 2007, the Moscow Pride was banned again by Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov, who had earlier branded it as "satanic",[27] was held in Moscow again and for the second year running degenerated into violent clashes with anti-gay protestors. For the second time police failed to protect gay rights activists. Italian MP Marco Cappato was kicked by an anti-gay activist and then detained when he demanded police protection. British gay rights veteran Peter Tatchell and Russian gay leader Nikolai Alekseev were detained as well.[28][29] The march is documented in the 2008 film East/West - Sex & Politics. 5/27 - five two seven - 5 to 7 yeah, that's what I think of. I don't quite know how it fits with the antiabortion message clearly evident in both the video + russian version, but it seems a bit evident that they're talking about an immoral loss of innocence (the deaths of gays). |
Lady GaGa – Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say) Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I don't think that's funny, I think that's sad. And secondly, being an artist, Gaga understands art is in the eye of the beholder. Whatever it might mean to her is not necessarily what it means to the person she's sitting next to, and she knows that. So this song can mean both. Personally, I prefer the satirical one because I can relate really deeply to it. I'm not going to laugh at someone for interpreting it differently, though. That's lame. |
Lady GaGa – Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say) Lyrics | 13 years ago |
it is the epitome of summer sound, and I can't explain it...but love it <3 |

Tegan and Sara – Feel It in My Bones Lyrics | 13 years ago |
and I don't capitalize random letters in lines either which was done so I don't really know what occurred here...but thank you for correcting the lyric anyway, in any case I agree |
Tegan and Sara – Feel It in My Bones Lyrics | 13 years ago |
o.o I totally typed out you've got dead aim when I did these lyrics, I don't know how you've got today got there it makes no sense |
Sunny Day Real Estate – Tearing In My Heart Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Really magical lyrics backed by fantastic vocals and chilling music. Yeah, I think the meaning is something completely personal and can change depending on one person from another. I would try to explain but it seems almost ignorant to try and lock this amazing artwork into a certain space. |
Lisa Mitchell – Neopolitan Dreams Lyrics | 13 years ago |
what I thought too |
Lisa Mitchell – Neopolitan Dreams Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I thought this was a song about being in love with a pothead and realizing you just can't do it |
Lady GaGa – Ribbons Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Only difference between uptown and downtown is therapy and valium -- best line EVER as for what you said mike I think that evidence is enough + the meaning is therefore killer. kind of wish this one was a hit so to promote safe sex. |
Jaymay – You Are The Only One I Love Lyrics | 13 years ago |
the chant is: Can you feel the landslide outside? Can you feel the love inside? she told me so. + this song I think is generally about the true, everlasting, lingering, always-reminiscent feeling of love someone feels for another. |
Salice – August Stones Lyrics | 13 years ago |
:D |
Jaymay – Big Ben Lyrics | 13 years ago |
i'll add that jamie is quite literary savvy coz she hoped to work in book publishing before pursuing singing, and one says "hanged" in reference to hanging a body instead of "hung" -- so that distorts it a little, but not so much. the song is very ambiguous when analyzed, but i think if taken as it is, the meaning is quite clear |
Jaymay – Big Ben Lyrics | 13 years ago |
it's about suicide. "the stripes you wore, the lines you get" --> perhaps the stripes represent a critical, b&w view on the world which leads often to depression and the lines are either a cocaine reference or about the various relationships Ben was in "the holes in your sleeve you told me to leave them alone" --> the holes are difficulties in his life, troubles, problems, etc. that jamie wanted to help him solve; he shunned her away "house of leaves"--> i read this book. i will be honest, i considered suicide while reading it. it is an emotionally warping book. "never read your mind"--> she never understood him quite fully. "instead of good morning, they tell you good night" --> they are saying goodbye to Ben instead of hello, being as he is dead "you hung yourself on the wall up above" --> this is rather directly referencing the act of him hanging himself from the ceiling/ or it's indirectly referring to the way he set too high expectations for himself "you don't love" --> he never loved anyone fully. either jamie is the one person he connected closest to or something else...still not sure but I got that general gist from the song. "big ben" refers to how he committed suicide, such a small, selfish act; his name is Ben she references him in her song "You'd rather run", as well: "If we are to meet on Ludlow ever again, don't mention Ben" suggesting there is a negative connotation very very very sad but a masterpiece |
Mew – 156 Lyrics | 13 years ago |
boats carry goods btw...i didn't explain that. i really would like the band's original explanation =/ |
Mew – 156 Lyrics | 13 years ago |
ROTFL! I never even thought of that and I've spent so much time guessing XDDD |
Mew – 156 Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I feel like this song is about drugs. You all have these beautiful, elaborate explanations, and I'm like: drugs! when I hear it. it's the money thing. "I can always get you down if you got the money for me." for that it just screams drug dealer everytime i hear it. I think Callie is a really well behaved girl, excellent at school and all, with whom the narrator, a drug-dealer, falls in love...she does drugs in the beginning of the relationship (leave your books behind you, you should look back twice--> about how she leaves her world she used to live in, and look back as in she knows better than to do drugs) but slowly fades away from it and he doesn't understand this, why she's saying goodbye. "in a big big way I am really small" -- > his falsehood, how bad of a person he is the way he relies on drugs, but he's a small person with a lot of problems. I also don't agree that the boat is literally a boat and there her house is literally a house. I think he's the dealer = the boat, and she's a house = a body, a being, safe haven perhaps. when her lights are on / off, she's sober / high as for 156 I am absolutely lost =( |
Regina Spektor – Sailor Song Lyrics | 13 years ago |
"americana, tropicana" --> the life lead by an american women (americana, adjective in italian for singular/feminine nouns meaning "american" which I bet you didn't really want to know) is thought to be "tropicana" (doesn't exist in italian :p BUT is in fact an orange juice brand) or tropical. "Oh kentucky why did you forsake me?..." --> the sailors are speaking about their home land, where they're from... the actual land, they ask it: Why did you trick me? Why did you put me on the seas? Their hometown is a "demon" since it made them go to sea. "Should've been with the state..." --> they reckon they should've stayed on land not gone on the ship --- "mary-anne's a bitch" --> the world's a fucking bitch. (sailors perspective) --- "does it matter that our anchors couldn't even reach..." --> if your anchors can't reach anywhere generally you're screwed and you can't stop. you will just keep going, and going, and going...unless you hit something but don't go there. "the sails reflect the moon" --> the sails are deceitful; the moon steals its light from the sun, and the sails are just like that -- they're not all they're cracked up to be. "cuddle with our miss----iles, and we miss the girls back home" --> as in miss--(es)--iles, meaning they're stuck into the job they have to do. now relay all this as if you were a sailor, and the ship is your life with all the appropriate relations being made to each different thing... regina's so creative. |

Regina Spektor – Sailor Song Lyrics | 13 years ago |
If maryanne's a ship: "mary anne's a bitch"; the sailors are displeased about the lives they lead, they hate the world, which to them is the ship, since they can't get out. now we're the sailors. i think regina's trying to say we all think the world's a bitch sometimes. it might "kiss us till our lips bleed" and lather us with pleasure, yet at the same time "it will not take its dress off" we will never get that exact perfection, that ultimate goal. everyone else can plug it in how they want but that's how i see it. |
Lisa Mitchell – So jealous Lyrics | 13 years ago |
i've been through this song entirely: basically i dated a guy a year or so ago who was older than me and had 10x more experience, and while i really liked him i was jealous of everything he'd done and so surmounted everything around me and did A LOT of bad bad bad things to be like him. the jealousy and my attraction led me to do this. "Some bad disease" "so sick for you, babe". it was a time of tons of distress and self-hate and depression for me... eventually we broke up. a few months ago i met up with him and found out and he was just TRASH-- and i'm not being bitter, i swear, -- ;he was absolutely worth nothing at all, dropped out of school and didn't give one fuck about anything, not doing any work or even trying to better his life. he thought he was a vampire, genuinely. he thought he was a vampire and figured he couldn't get along with the rest of the world...don't fucking ask me. anyway, I found his "broken pen-knife" (his broken pride, his destroyed self-worth) and I wasn't even gonna ask what he was doing by the wayside, in such shit conditions... you see, now? great music, love everything about this song + lisa for having made it! |
Lisa Mitchell – Valium Lyrics | 13 years ago |
for some reason when i look up the lyrics to her songs, it ruins the songs... i absolutely wholeheartedly adore lisa, don't get me wrong, but seeing the posted lyrics wrecks the majesty...are these completely the correct lyrics? does the lyric booklet say so? i was lent this record to burn onto my ipod, so i can't know please view this picture or any other image of valium: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Diazepam(Valium)_DOJ.jpg the hearts in the center of the valium pills...i feel like that's not coincidental, don't you? i think lisa is trying to say she wants to create a drug, pill, or something (why she wants a scientist to help her) to preserve the feeling of love she feels for whomever she's singing about. she must take inspiration from the hearts (i know they're V's but let's be poetic) she finds in valium, to create her own pill with her and her lover's hearts inside them. generally i said what everyone else has said just with a pretty picture involved. i also agree it could be about the safety and protection of a relation- i never thought of that- in which she seeks his/her love like a painkiller. that would explain the waiting-- she's waiting and longing for that comfort...how many of you just die when you hear the, "I've been waiting"? this song is so beautiful, and still that's such an understatement |
Lisa Mitchell – Animals Lyrics | 13 years ago |
this song was playing on my ipod when I bet my ex boyfriend spontaneously on a street we both happened to be walking on one afternoon |
Lisa Mitchell – Pirouette Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I think it may be a song written with eyes of solely faith, whether it be in an entity or a man/woman...she's singing about this, I think, and even if I'm wrong there's something undeniably utterly stunning about this piece |
Marina and the Diamonds – Shampain Lyrics | 13 years ago |
shame+pain in case no one caught on...I didn't until someone pointed out champagne was spelled weirdly. I think this is just a song about the troubles of substance abuse. The religious references I hear, as well; the only thing I can think of right now is that her love for alcohol is beating out her devotion or love to her religion. I don't know much about Gabriel, the angel is not in my holy book. |
