I agree with everyone who said this is the best song on the album. Just beyond words...
This is a solid album that sounds better every time I play it. That's hard to do now-a-days. Gibbard's voice is great and some of the notes he hits in the last chorus of this song are astounding. Death Cab's harmonic awareness along with there creativity made this an easy album to listen to.

I missed the "Q and not U" train long ago...Just discovered these guys. There first two albums are groundbreaking. If you ask me...they should have never let their bassist go. "No Kill, No Beep Beep" has within a few days climbed its way to my top 10 list. Amazing. |

This song is beautiful. It builds up so slowly and then seems to explode at the end. I feel like falling asleep when he first starts singing and am brought back by the change in rhythm half way through. Just brilliant. |

This is my favorite song on the album. It's just perfect all the way through. The drumming is simple yet presice. I think the song is about someone getting a fresh start somewhere new after going through difficulties where they live. The person wants to leave but knows he'll miss certain things or people when he goes.
"oh I'll be back sometime" shows that sense of saddness for parting with his loved ones.
Whatever it may be, this song is now one of my all time favorites and really sets these guys apart from others with a similar sound. The bass work reminds me of Pinback (wichvus my favorite band of all time) and I know that's the sound these guys are going for. True, west coast indie rock at it's best. It's a shame that more people don't hear music like this a d that this is the first post on this song(only the second on their page). Gotta spread the word... These guys are amazing. |

I can't believe there are no comments on this song let alone most of mr. Crow's work. This song is amazing. His guitar workbis untouchable in his style. I think this song is about someone trying to get out of something weather it be a bad habbit or repetitive situations but can't cuz he's "fucked up" meaning he's addicted to this lifestyle. " he shakes and rattles the same thing"

The reason pinback uses "slint" in AFK Is simply because Slint was one of Rob Crow's all time favorite bands.

A fellow forum member had the chance to speak to Zach's sister and in this conversation he took the chance to ask her if she knew what it meant. Apparently it was originally a lull-a-bey for Rob's baby when it was really young. As for the numbers, she confirmed that they have no specific meaning. Just take it how you want it. It's Pinback. |
