Jimmy Eat World – Get It Faster Lyrics 13 years ago
Favorite j.e.w.
Personally, I don't take "cheating" to strictly be meant in the literal sense.
To me, the meaning is basically a long the lines of most interpretations:
Negative Relationship (or even lack there of.. being lead on either within a relationship or in lieu of a relationship)
I see it as intimated that it's one-sided commitment "i should of thought things through/i'm holding out/not getting an answer"
basically a relationship that's more difficult than rewarding

"cheating gets it faster" is double-entendresque in my interpretation in that yes, it could be technically just looking elsewhere but moreover it's sort of the philosophy of "why do it the hard way" not too disparately from Bright Eye's line "I'd rather be working for a paycheck than waiting to win the lottery".. i.e. struggling.. "holding out" for something ephemerally wonderful doesn't always pay out.
I may be over-thinking it, but I like the line in that way... the idea that there's not always merit in toil... sometimes "cheating gets it faster."
Letting go.

Nirvana – Dumb Lyrics 16 years ago
I didn't read all of the prior opinions but the ones I did read referenced low self-esteem and such and, though I can certainly see how the superficially self-denigrating "I think I'm dumb" could be seen as self-loathing, I think it is more meant to insult those whom the subject deigns as being in contrast with his more realistic expectations.
"I'm not like them but I can pretend" as far as I can tell referencing this realism (cynicism) and inability as a person of superior faculties of recognition (as I think this song is actually very self-laudatory) to generally concede to any degree of temporal (and unreasonable) optimism.
This song is, I believe, a serenade to such visceral, illogical, and ephemeral joy and the awareness that trusting it is perilous and "dumb."

"He who binds himself to joy
Does the winged life destroy;
But he who kisses the joy as it flies
Lives in eternity's sunrise" -- William Blake

Neutral Milk Hotel – Naomi Lyrics 16 years ago
I think it's about a Eucodonia "naomi" flower blossom he picked (or mused about picking.)
The lyrics seem to fit this pretty well.

Neutral Milk Hotel – Through My Tears Lyrics 16 years ago
I'm 99.99999999% sure the vocals are Jeff due to the accent, Jackie. He's singing in a lower registry and singing more delicately but the early songs (all of the demo tracks, atleast) seem to have been a lot more melodic than "Aeroplane." Then, even "On Avery Island" was much more mellow than "Aeroplane"s manic, loquacious brilliance. .
Either way, this song is very surprising and beautiful. I think the themes are more self-explanatory than are the themes in the majority of his songs. To me, it hearkens to disenchantment and recognition of the ephemeral nature of relationships.
