I love the line "words can do more than harm." I think this song is just saying that we should be idols to ourselves; be nice to everyone, "watch how you treat every living soul." Even if you may mess up or look like you've done something wrong, as long as you have good intentions and try to do the best and act the best towards everyone and everything, you'll be a hero and a good person to your true friends' or God's eyes, hence "eyes can't look at you any other way." It's a song about just being a good person at heart. |

| I think of this song is more of the ending of a relationship of where both parties still love each other, but they are unable to be together, whether they are already married or have other lovers; this also regards the idea that you can fall in love more than once but you don't HAVE to act upon those feelings. Even after the two of you break up, there is still that memory of the relationship that hangs around like a "ghost." And the other person always wants to feel like they made an impact in your life, hence the lyrics "I never want to hear you say/that you'd be better off/or you liked it that way." From the lines of "warning" there are times in a relationship where you wished that you or the other person could have been warned of the outcome even before you started loving each other. "No one's gonna love you more than I do" is a way of saying that even when things don't work out, you'll always have this place in your heart where you will forever love that person. | |

| I sort of got the feel from this song that while living in a small town, reputations and gossip can ruin the way people see your and keep you from making friends, sort of what Sleepinglalabies was saying. But I also got the idea that even though you may grow up in a small town and not be liked by everyone, there is still a world much bigger than you or the town that you are in, and despite all of the hate and prejudice that may be against you in your birthtown, you can leave and still find many wondrous things in the world. The world really can be wonderful if you choose to look at it as such. | |

I think, at the beginning of the song it's "she got the power in her hand" instead of "current." I also thought it was "It started in the amazon" instead of what is there, but after listening to the song a couple more times I could be wrong on that one. This is one of my favorite songs off of their album. I love the disco-like sound; it just makes me want to dance around. I saw MGMT opening for Of Montreal, and man it was awesome! |
