Amazing song! Basically I think it's about struggling to work together to find hope identity. "The sickness seeps through all of us", "heaven is far", and "this is hell". But "I'm strong I will survive", "I know there's better days", and there are "places where we all can be free". Inspirational song and very easy to relate to, at least for me. Looking forward to more great music from her! :D |

I read in an article that the album is supposed to be about how parents are letting down younger generations. "We are the sons and daughters of broken homes" This line certainly carries this theme of youth being abandoned. also... "Torn they trick the best of us A preacher smile behind a pulpit of blame. (oh oh) Are you a slave to brain damage Let's fight the motions and feed." Although they are signed to a christian label(Tooth & Nail), pointing out hypocrisy of religious leaders is apparent here, and they are not a follow the herd religious type of christian band. |

This song is about how people go to Hollywood with big dreams, only to have them be crushed by the nightmare that follows. Some of the lyrics in this song make me think that their profane party songs songs like "everywhere I Go", "Comin' in Hot", and "No. 5" are meant to be sarcastic, or at least the band doesn't see them as a good way to live. "Hollywood is your friend, and the undead are your family We'll take you to the edge, and turn your regret into agony And I'll never let you go, cuz I know you'll come back to me I'm the reason you came here... ...I'm the American tragedy" He's saying that it's the American Tragedy to be trapped in Hollywood with the undead. "Now you're stuck in this place you hate, And you came here so happily Then it made you lose your faith, And that's what fucked with your sanity" Almost seems like they're saying that losing your faith(I'm assuming it primarily means christian faith based on them mentioning Christianity in songs such as Paradise Lost) is a bad thing that messes with your sanity while you hate where you're at in life. Altogether, whether their party songs are sarcastic or not, this song make it very obvious that the partying is not worth how crappy it is to lose your soul, lose your faith, and live in streets that are dirty and dark. |

This song is great! It almost has the sound of old Linkin Park music. The lyrics seem pretty open top interpretation. I got the vibe of someone who has made really poor choices in their life and kinda wants to have a better life and be a better person, but the problem is that he can't see the light in it and can't see enough good in the world to make changing worthwhile. That's the best I can come up with anyway |

Songs like this one and "like it's her b-day" show them going in a lyrical direction that I don't like one bit. It's an anti-porn song as far as i can tell. I mean, soad did violent pornography which was anti-porn, so it makes sense that scars decided to do one too. Because the focus on finding the good life is to have a good time, things like misusing alcohaul, sex, and drugs probably happened to the person in his attempt to find the good life. See I agree with you for alot of that, but I don't think the change was for the better. Because his change to the good life involves primarily "haveing a good time" it seems to me that the misuse of drugs, sex, and alcohaul are what "the good life" in this song portrays. An actual good life almost always involves hard work and sacrificing temperary satisfaction in order to make your future better. If someone is looking for the good life, and their only goal is to have a good time, they probably won't really have a good life. |

dang, I guess you're right. HU just has so many songs with thoughtful meaningful lyrics I'd like to think that they are better than that. They have a lot of songs that arn't sexual and complain/rebel about evil things in our world. The sad thing is even with all the lyrical time they spend trying to help solve problems it bugs the hell out of me that the other half of their songs contribute to our society's problems. I think that girls and guys are equally guilty and responsible for promiscuously wrong behavior most of the time. But the fact that girls are giulty too is no excuse for the guys. I personally hold guys more accountable even if the fault is equal. Guys should be able to say no and be the better person. |

Am I the only one who thinks this song is satirical? Cause every single comment here seems to be saying "great party song!" I firmly disagree. If the band actually thinks the stuff in this song is cool then they are all womanizing scumbags. Based on songs like "A Knife Called Lust" though, they do not fully support blatent, dangerous, promiscuity. Let's examine the lyrics: "Gotta get drunk before my mom wakes up, Break-up with my girlfriend so I can bang sluts, I'm undead, unfed, Been sleeping on bunk beds, Since ten" Obviously, the mom here is neglagent and doesn't have a good relationship with her son. He has to get away as soon as he can from his broken home life. "So if I don't booze it, I'm gonna lose it, Everybody get to it, do it, get ruined" With the pain he feels at home, he's going head over heels for the shallow joy of boozing it at a party. As the song says, doing this is only gonna get himself ruined. "When I start drinking, My dick does all my thinking" "Buy beer, Or pay the rent, My signing bonus was quickly spent" Here we've got a pretty womanizing statement. All he wants from girls at this point is sex. Partying(ruining his life) is more important to him then paying the rent as well. "Come on girls I wanna see you drinkin', I wanna see your brain start shrinkin', Make a move I saw you winkin', Drunken pussies what I'm thinkin'" This line was the one that most convinced me they were being satirical. Seriously, with all the lyrical depth they have in many songs and their constant putting down of shallow sex? I say that Hollywood Undead does not support getting girls drunk with the intent to bang them. This song is meant to show very descriptively how disgusting this type of behavior is. This song really makes me empathize with kids who are "uncool" or "unpopular" in school. So many freakin people look down on them because they act different or express themselves in a awkward way. How would I feel if that happened to me? I would, of course feel like dirt. These people who are looked down on are just like me and you. they feel the same emotions and feel the same pain. How would it feel to have nobody who cares about you? ... :( I truly hope this song causes many people to empathize with people like this instead of looking down on them. I know we could all afford to put more energy into loving and caring about people who are less fortunate then us. Nobody's perfect, but that's no excuse for not even trying. |

Listening to the song it seems very sarcastic. "All I want is a little of The good life All I need is to have A good time" I immediately think of people who throw themselves into sex, drugs, and alcohaul as "Wanting a little of the good life, and "Just needing to have a good time". He even brings up the common excuse of "any day could be my last", which is a common excuse that people who get into lots of sex, drugs and alcohaul love to use. At the end of the song is when the confusion of the mind is kicking in, "Hold on Hold on, I always wanted it this way, I never wanted it this way". I think that the meaning of the song is that a bit of the "good life" is not worth destroying your whole life for. This may very well be my favorite song off of the new album! |

Basically I see this as a truely dark and depressing song. It is putting into words the way that so many people in our world feel. There is so much evil in our world that many of the people who are good have completely lost any desire to change and do good. The most depressing part of this song is that it offers no solution. All it does is talk about shutting off the world even if you're not proud of doing it. I'm interested to see if the rest of the album will have a song with a solution to our world's problems that were presented in this song. |
