Pearl Jam – Just Breathe Lyrics 13 years ago
It's... just like me...
And the part "Did I say that I need you? Did I say that I want you? If I didn't I'm a fool, you see, no one knows this more than me... as I come clean"
My grandparents passed away, and whenever I remember them, I think of all the things I could have done for them, all the things I should have said, and listened from them... and didn't because, well, we foolish ones always take them for granted... and all I hoped is that somehow they knew what I hadn't had the time or courage or patience to tell them...

As a matter of fact, this song made me come clean to the ones I still have to tell them how I feel about them...

James – Getting Away With It (All Messed Up) Lyrics 14 years ago
I know this song is about Grease, but I can't help think it's about life in general. How we struggle to make it, how we make mistakes, but how nothing (well, almost nothing) is final and fatal. How we can always "bounce back" after a mistake. "Are you aching for the blade/grave" is the person unable to cope with his/her mistakes, believing he/her is not worthy of living anymore.
I also thought the lyrics to this song followed "That's ok, we'ren't sure" (of course you can't write it like that..) as if telling the person that you don't know how life is either. We're getting away with it all messed up because we're human and flawed.
I also viewed Daniel saving Grace because she couldn't handle the life she was living and Daniel tried to talk to her and make her feel better about herself.
I never saw grease. I hope it's a decent movie, cause this song should be deep and inspiring.

The Offspring – Stuff Is Messed Up Lyrics 14 years ago
I love
"Now thank god for the media,
for saving the day,
putting it all into perspective,
in a responsible way".
it rocks.

but i know this, shit is fucked up!

Have you ever wondered if you really know anything about your country or not, because stuff may be even deeper than you thought?

The Offspring – Half-Truism Lyrics 14 years ago
You just turned my view of this song around. I think you're right. It's like a talk with the "terrorists" trying to get them to see that we're all here for a short time, why should we fight, and that the banner they wave that american lifestyle (well and european and probably asian too) is inpure, is burning in red, as their acts are quite savage and the red is the blood they've spilled. It's blocking the sun because the rage they feel against other countries prevents them from focusing on improving themselves, so there's no "sun" as in illumination of their minds. I could even say that "one is for envy and one just for spite could be references to 9/11, but it's just a take on it, and one I'm not even very sure about.
"You against the world" would be obvious.
"And it's ashes to ashes again " and "watch the city burn" because their attacks destroy cities, and intice other countries to go into war, ending in ashes to ashes on both sides.

I just can't see what "If we don't make it alive, It's a hell of a good way to die" means, because it should be referring to either dying because of their actions (terrorism, war), and it's not quite a good day to die...

Metallica – The Unforgiven III Lyrics 15 years ago
I agree with you almost completely. In my opinion, when he says
"And how can I blame you
when it's me I can't forgive?"
I think it's one of those things where you always try to blame other people, trying to avoid that you're somehow to blame for it. It's like blaming your parents for you turning out to be a bad person, when all along you had the choice in yourself, as influenced as it might have been.

It is, though, about forgiving himself. And "a lesson" on following your dreams, and yourself, instead of "gold".

I love the line "How could he know this new dawn's light \ would change his life forever", cause sometimes, the biggest things in our lives happen as a result of one day. One day where we screwed it all up, or saved it.

I love the unforgivens. does it show? :P

I believe this song has it very clear in the lyrics... It's like, someone does what he/she likes and goes out to do it as best they can, and in their own way... and then get side-tracked following money (light of golden treasure) and then the frustration of facing his/her own mistakes and not having anyone else to blame but themselves...

The first unforgiven was the one unforgiven by society.
The second unforgiven was the one unforgiven by his/her mate.
This, the ultimate unforgiven, is the self-unforgiven... The one who can't forgive himself for what he's done...

So far Metallica are impressing me with a different sound than they had so far, and i have no oppinion formed. One thing I am tired of hearing is: Better than St Anger.

St Anger IS, musically, not as good as what metallica had us used to, but it must be heard in context. St. Anger is a public vent of all the poison in Metallica. You just watch the documentary (Some kind of monster) to understand that... The sound comes out crude and raw and unrefined just like a feeling. Just like a spontaneous punch.

At least that's my oppinion. And in that context, the whole album fits like a glove.

Skunk Anansie – You'll Follow Me Down Lyrics 16 years ago
I think it's how when someone commits suicide that person drags everyone they know down with them. That's what i take from it.

30 Seconds to Mars – A Beautiful Lie Lyrics 16 years ago
I thought it was about growing up.. The shedding of old beliefs, the pursuit for the truth. And how that hurts. So the author tries to go back to his "beautiful lie", "I've got to remember this is just a game", it's him trying to go back to that point.
I can quite relate to it like this.

Best part in my oppinion
"And love dares you to care for the people on the edge of night and love dares you to change our way of caring about ourselves..."

Muse – Butterflies and Hurricanes Lyrics 17 years ago
What are you saying? This song's relationship to chaos theory is merely an analogy. The butterflies are us, each of us, and our lives. It's how, like laura said, fulfilling your "destiny" or if you will, your dreams. Becoming huge, intellectually. Rising to your potential.
