Pulp – She's A Lady Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I've gotta agree; This is the "I Will Survive" anthem! Quite a sexy one, too. I put it on in those moments when I wanna feel emotionally stronger again. |
Pulp – My Legendary Girlfriend Lyrics | 16 years ago |
There are no comments on this song??? None at all? Well anyway, it's one of my Pulp favorites. Jarvis has that sexiness oozing from his voice in this one. So it seems he's singing about this girl he desires to be with, and she's broken from the way another man treats her. "My legendary girlfriend, she is crying tonight Oh no she doesn't feel right She's got no one to hold Her love is a sham He is dancing somewhere Oh no he doesn't care Oh well, he'll never know" |
Pulp – I Want You Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I hate the idea of someone like this. Like lola500 said, the types who are just in it for the chase. It turns into a game of pulling someone in and then pulling away to keep the cycle endlessly going. It's a great song, though! |
Pulp – The Trees Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"Might as well go and tell it to the trees" Yeah, I definitely love that line. Sometimes I think of it as when something fails and you feel so broken and sad about it, no one wants to hear it. There's nothing that can be done to change it, so you might as well go do something useless like talking to the trees. This is a beautiful song, by the way. |
My Bloody Valentine – Moon Song Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I'm coming back to the song because it has even more personal meaning now. Yeah, it's just all about being in love and obsessed with someone who is completely destructive to your well-being. You can love this person so much, yet hate them with almost the same entirety. You say you'll leave it all behind, since you know it's so bad and that you deserve better, but the obsession for this person who you think is "the only one" makes it nearly impossible. I can sense all the hatred he feels in this song towards the one he loves and possibly towards himself for having these feelings and conflicts. Sometimes, love stinks. vlaric, nice two cents on the song. I'll say it counts for a little more than two cents, though. ;D |
Mazzy Star – Ghost Highway Lyrics | 16 years ago |
It was used in a movie soundtrack! How awesome is that? Rarely is one of my favorite songs featured in a film, but this one appears in "Love & a .45." It's one of the more up-tempo songs of Mazzy. I enjoy it when I'm driving on the highway. :) |
Mazzy Star – Mary of Silence Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Man, I was hoping someone would have left a comment about this one. Is it about feeling tempted to drugs? There's that line "I can't take the pain" which sounds like a need to feel the pleasurable and numbing effects of drugs. "Take me into your skin" sounds like consuming the drug. Who is Mary? Does anyone know whether Mary is often used as a nickname referring to a particular drug? Sure, I know there's simple Mary Jane, but this sounds like something more potent than that. Heroin, perhaps? |
Mazzy Star – Roseblood Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This used to be my theme song...when I was extremely depressed. But oh yeah, I'll always sense the beauty in this every time I hear it. As far as interpretation goes, I think it's of a broken girl. Someone who's stuck in a depression and doesn't allow others into her world. Someone who is beautiful on the outside, but feels ugly and broken on the inside and tries to hide it. That line "Surely you'll love her again" I believe is supposed to be "Shiny on her again." |
Mazzy Star – She Hangs Brightly Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Ooo, trippy! This will possibly stand to always be my favorite Mazzy song. It was possibly the very first one I heard from the band and it hypnotized me. What's it about? Jeez, it's another one of those druggy sounding ones with an obscure meaning. I love the way the lyrics and music just seem to meander and swirl. Definitely a nice psychedelic effect. Love the organ! I just get the sense you're supposed to feel hypnotized with a song like this. With the dark, bizarre lyrics, meandering music, and Hope's vocals, what else are you to do? |
Mazzy Star – Look On Down From The Bridge Lyrics | 16 years ago |
When I hear it, I always think to the suicide bit. That ending line "Look on down from the bridge, I'm still waiting for you" makes me think of someone who's too miserable to remain here, and they're waiting for their lover to join them in eternity. Though, I can definitely sense just the failed relationship interpretation. I guess you can take it literally or figuratively. Whichever way it resonates more with you. It's so gloomy and beautiful. I think this is the song I want played at my funeral. |
Mazzy Star – All Your Sisters Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Haha, this is definitely one of those totally druggy songs of theirs. You're right, Unmasked, the meaning of it is so baffling and obscure I can't really comment. I love this song, but what the hell is it even about? Maybe that's the whole point. The music is gorgeous, but it's meant to be hazy and confusing lyrically. Maybe I'm too dumb to figure it out. It sounds almost like she has intentions to haunt someone. I don't gain the same meaning as the one above when I hear the song, but that's a decent and understandable way of interpreting it. It'll just continue being a mystery to me..... |
The Aislers Set – Why Baby Why Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Mmmhmm, I love it, too! I just discovered this awesome band. This has been my favorite song from the Aislers Set so far. |
The Sundays – Cry Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Oh man, this is so beautiful. Obviously about the grief of a lost love. Everything around reminds her of the one she loved. That line "But I'm so oblivious to the dark to the light, it's all the same" shows how much it affects her. When one's miserable, he/she loses sight of beauty and happiness of the things around. Favorite part: "You're with me so much, tough you're never with me anymore." Sure, he's there, in her mind, but that's just a memory. A terribly haunting memory of what no longer exists. |
The Sundays – I Can't Wait Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I think this is about somebody who's sick of waiting around for something good to happen. Idle time can create a sense of frustration. It's that feeling so many experience when they wonder if they'll ever find what they've been searching in life. Love that line "When there’s more in your head than you find in your life." It's a terrible thing when you allow yourself to dwell in dreams rather than focus on reality. I suppose that's where the "calls for a change" comes into the picture. |
Mojave 3 – Tomorrow's Taken Lyrics | 16 years ago |
What? No comments for this song? That's a shame. It's certainly one of my favorites. I think it's fairly straightforward. She is totally immersed in sadness and wants him back. Without him and his love, she feels dead and empty inside. My favorite parts: "'Cause a bottle of wine is all I have to hold" "Something good is all I need to feel alive" I think those sum up the feelings of an aching loneliness pretty well. |
The Sundays – You're Not The Only One I Know Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This is one of those songs I find easy to put on repeat for hours. As far as my interpretation goes, she's been hurt by the guy and wants him to come back but is far too proud to admit it. It's that feeling of loneliness and abandonment when the one you like and want so badly is no longer in your life. You wish they were feeling the same pain and would come back to you. It's hard to admit you miss someone once they've hurt and left you, though. Who wants to beg? I love the ending line, "But if you do, don't you know, that I don't mind." She's finally revealing how much she truly hopes and wants him to come back. This line "you're not the only one that I know" is the way of trying to trick the guy and everyone else into thinking she's not upset about it and will easily move on. "It's perfectly fine to sleep in a chair from Monday 'til Saturday." These are ways she deals with the sadness and disappointment. Of course it's not perfectly fine, but that's the only way it seems to be able to cope at the moment. She's losing the ability to be happy and function. Just beautiful. Totally melancholy and brilliant lyrics capture it all. Aside from the lyrical content, Harriet's vocals reach beautiful places in this one. This has easily become one of my favorites. Here's a thank you to the Sundays. :) |
Slowdive – Shine Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I've slowly realized this is the best Slowdive song. Rachel's vocals reach a place so heavenly and dreamy. Pretty much no other song I've heard as divine as "Shine." The music video only made me fall deeper in love. |
My Bloody Valentine – No More Sorry Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think we could all agree this is the single darkest MBV song, musically and lyrically. |
My Bloody Valentine – Soon Lyrics | 17 years ago |
My favorite "Loveless" track seems to endlessly shift, though it now lies here on "Soon". As far as the song lyrics, I'm pretty uncertain, but the music, or rather noise, is terribly hypnotic. And you're right, nirado, it does fit perfectly as the end. I'm reminded of something every time I hear this song, too, but I can't be sure it's Spyro. |
My Bloody Valentine – Kiss the Eclipse Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I steal first comment to this song. Oh lucky me. It's really one of my favorite MBV songs overall. Adorable, simple, and sweet. |
My Bloody Valentine – Moon Song Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Seems to me that he's both obsessed yet loathes the idea of loving this girl. She's like a bad drug. Makes him feel good at times, yet so terrible at others that he hates himself. And he knows she'll be "the only one" because he can't seem to give her up. She's just an obsession he wants to get over already. |
My Bloody Valentine – Touched Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think this song just screams sexual energy. Starts off with the intense rush, and then comes the blissful, dreamy part....ahh, I do love this song. |
My Bloody Valentine – Paint a Rainbow Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Wow, squaresun, I had never noticed such a dark side to this song. That's creep-tastic! I always thought of it as just another silly, cute love song until reading the necrophilia interpretation. It really does add up when you read the lyrics, but I don't think I want to accept its truly disturbing meaning just yet. Man, now everytime I hear this song I'm going to get a sick feeling! At least I can now understand why he says, "Flowers grow all over you." Though what are "little drops of shark infested sea"? Simply rain? |
The Sundays – Love Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Isn't this such a feel good song? "Love, just love yourself like no one else. Love, it's enough!" It just makes me want to be nothing but positive. |
