I think William William etc. refers to the famous American journalist, humorist, and performing artist "Will" Rogers, who wrote a short collectiom titled "The Cowboy Philosopher on the Peace Conference" at about this same time. |

I've heard the popular Todd songs from the past, and I even saw him fronting the "New Cars" a few summers ago. But lately, my wife has urged me to give AWATS a listen. It's definitely one of those collections that takes a little while to digest. Repeated listenings are a must. But I find myself enjoying it more and more and THIS song is a big reason why. It's got an Eastern European, melancholy feel to it that is absolutely mesmerizing. I'm going to have to ponder these lyrics some, but it surely seems to be a song that captures the essence of life in all its extremes. |

I am intrigued by hoitsmith's take on this. I do have one ciomment, though. I believe an earlier "working" title for the song was Care of Cell 69 (from Odessey & Oracle liner notes)....and NO I didn't make this up...lol
Regardless, after having heard a few of these songs over the years I finally went and got the CD and WOW is about al I can say. O&O is a true hidden treasure. I can't believe how fresh this music sounds today! |
