Keane – She Has No Time Lyrics 17 years ago
I agree with savvnz. To me, I see a duality in her. I think she loves him, but he's drifting away from her, or he just doesn't love her as much or the way she needs, and so she preemptively leaves him first. She has no time to waste pining over someone who can't return her feelings.

The Black Heart Procession – Not Just Words Lyrics 17 years ago
Mmmmm, mmmmm good. Someone once said to me, upon our parting, that the thing about first love is, you always think it will last forever. That's what this song is to me -- you always think it's more than just words; it's so intense now, it must be eternal. Time always proves the lie, and yet we never learn. I meant it just as much the last time I told someone I'd love him forever, as I did the first, and they were both equally lies.

The Black Heart Procession – Till We Have To Say Goodbye Lyrics 17 years ago
The simplicity of this beautiful song makes it all the more haunting. There's a straightforward meaning, certainly, but I also take this as a comment on how we rarely appreciate things until they are lost to us. I've put this song on repeat every time I've suffered a parting.

The Black Heart Procession – Waterfront (The Sinking Road) Lyrics 17 years ago
I think it's supposed to be "ails your heart"... but yeah, definitely my first BHP song too, and I love 'em.

Tricky – Car Crash Lyrics 17 years ago
Wow, doesn't anybody else like Tricky? I think this is one of his sexiest songs, because of the slow rhythm perhaps... I just love it.

The Helio Sequence – So Stop Lyrics 17 years ago
I just love the harmony on the couplets. And... sad that there are so few comments on this awesome band! Anyhow, I think this song as about watching your friends do drugs when you're not, and trying to reconcile those disparate worlds.

Air – Mer Du Japon Lyrics 17 years ago
If you're curious:

"I'm losing my mind
In the sea of Japan

I'm losing my mind

Air – Napalm Love Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this song is about a destructive love. Even from the beginning, falling in love is like falling down, and has the song progresses, it hits, hurts, and burns. At the end, it's saying how tough love is (in a hard way) to persist even though it's so negative.

Air – Once Upon A Time Lyrics 17 years ago
I'm stoked about the new album, too! I just bought it yesterday on a whim (my first exposure to AIR) and I'm really impressed. They remind me of Explosions in the Sky.

Anyway, I think this song is about how time always feels relative. If something seems to soon, it feels like there's no time left before it, etc. Great piano, though. Yum!

Tori Amos – Beauty Queen/Horses Lyrics 17 years ago
Under Milk Wood is a play by Dylan Thomas... not sure if that connects to Tori's Milkwood, but lovers of Tori's will likely enjoy his poetry.

Menomena – Shirt Lyrics 17 years ago
Ah but is the speaker the one in love, or is he instead the object of the unrequited love? This is how I feel right now. This album would rock my world if it didn't kick me over every time I put it on.

Tori Amos – Space Dog Lyrics 17 years ago
Yeah, this song makes absolutely no sense to me, though it's probably my favorite on the whole album. I love all of its moods. Also -- couldn't Neil be Neil Young? Weren't they friends?

Tori Amos – Cornflake Girl Lyrics 17 years ago
I thought this song also had a connection to Tori's childhood. I heard her parents put her in commercials when she was young (doing cereal ads) and it was pretty tramautizing. ("And I go at sleepy time" "she's putting on a string bean look"). I always just loved the part where she says, "This isn't happening -- you bet your life it is". Sometimes it's just too true. And -- yes -- air piano! Tori, you are a goddess.

Tori Amos – God Lyrics 17 years ago
I'm in the andshedied and SpaceyLover11 camp, here. She's rejecting the Biblical God, especially the patriarchal aspect. How could God be so beautiful in all the superficial things and so cruel to everything underneath?

Bob Dylan – Lay Lady Lay Lyrics 17 years ago
Yeah, his voice sounds so different for this song than most of the others I've heard. I have to stand with the love-song interpretation; I think he's trying to convince a virtuous (in the 19th century sense) woman to give herself up to him, because he loves her enough for them both.

Tom Petty – Breakdown Lyrics 17 years ago
The ultimate seduction... crank this song and break down, go ahead and give it to me! I just love how slow it is at the beginning, all deliberate. Just as the first time with a new lover ought to be.

ZZ Top – Tush Lyrics 17 years ago
Ha, I always thought he was saying "touch"... no wonder I could never figure out what this song was titled.

Menomena – Muscle'n Flo Lyrics 17 years ago
BigRobb, I completely concur. It's great timing with the lyrics too... "come lay down your head..."

Menomena – Wet and Rusting Lyrics 17 years ago
I just adore it when the piano kicks in... I want to fill the bathtub to brimming, put this on LOUD and sink under the water, blowing bubbles and staring at the ceiling through the waves. Menomena... yum!

You're right though, this is so sexy. I think it's the speed, fast piano, slow rhythm, and the lyrics are awesome too. I didn't even realize it until I came here.
