Someone told this line "I bought me an illusion An I put it on the wall" was inspired by a scene in Wall Street. Gordon Gecko is telling Bud about a bad investment in a painting. I was told the painting in the movie was titled " Illusion", not sure if there is any true connection. The tempo breaks rather intensely with these 2 Illusion parts and the lyrics seem to transcend the relationship aspect that seem to be going on with the main verses. There are so many parts that are very special to me, almost like 4 different songs in 1. |

Something truly profound comes out of" I've worked too hard for my illusions Just to throw them all away" I am sure he is just talking about the relationship, but it probably speaks volumes of his point of view...he let it break up one of the more successful bands of the era. Tried to edit the lyrics, as there was a lot left off, but said it could not guarantee they would be accepted The intro: (Awwwwwwwwwww, bumpa, bumpa) & I think it should be big not bug in the first line Pretty sure all saying the abandoned by God interpretation are correct in that it was felt that God was at time here but no longer.
