Actually, I'm pretty sure it's "Why, oh Wi-nona Ryder's in the sky," etc. in the 8th verse

Great song--thanks for posting it!

The Who – Did You Steal My Money Lyrics 17 years ago
Man...I love the Who, but these are some of the crappiest lyrics ever, with the exception of "Just leave his gold watch in reception / And he'll keep the sixteen stitches in his head." But seriously..."inched it" / "kitchen"? That hurts.

Interesting...I guess I stand corrected. I can't find references to a Jackie anywhere. Anyone know more about this? And if erratick is right, then where does Dilaudid fall? Is it about Cathy? Or Jackie? Both? Neither? Is 'Cathy' just what he calls Jackie on the album, while Jackie is her real name? Aaaaaaaaaaaaah...

I agree with a lot of what's been said; I just wanted to mention that I think the person he's addressing is the same girl he's been talking to for much of the album (the "Cathy" of 'This Year' and, I think, 'Dilaudid'). The idea of her losing it and him following her on her descent--and finding a few cul-de-sacs of his own--fits with the line in 'This Year' where he calls them "twin high-maintenance machines."

The Mountain Goats – This Year Lyrics 17 years ago
Actually, the phrase "Next year in Jerusalem" (Hebrew L’shana ha’ba-ah b’Yerushalayim) is associated with Passover. The idea was that maybe next year, the Jewish people would be free and have their own homeland in which to celebrate Passover instead of always being on the run. Ties in, in a way, with what abe is saying about escaping--and with the line, "I am going to make it through this year," i.e. just one more year to endure (maybe b/c once he's 18 he can leave his abusive stepfather's home)

Umm...actually, I'm pretty sure it's the prostitute thing.
