The Cure – A Forest Lyrics 8 years ago
Seems to me this song is more of a horror story. The protagonist has been lured by a voice into a forest where he is constantly being taunted by sirens.

My Chemical Romance – Mama Lyrics 17 years ago
I think I know how this song relates to the Patient concept! Just a theory though:
The Patient is supposed to be a vet sent back from war (possibly cause he has been diagnosed with cancer) This is a flashback to a letter he wrote in the thick of battle, perhaps the night before a battle that he and the other troops are dreading (we're all gonna die!)
I think maybe after he was discharged he found out his girl was over him and then had to face his disease while getting over her too. The song Teenagers tends to back the fact that he has had some military indoctrination in his background, and isn't there a military marching band in every Parade?

My Chemical Romance – The Sharpest Lives Lyrics 17 years ago
This is the "thank you for the venom" of this album!
I love the fact that MCR write there lyrics with so many possible facets.
I still havent worked out the album yet, but I've gotten alot of insight from those of you who use this site properly (thanx! you rock!)
I see this as the reaction to bad news. He either killed his GF or he's pushing her away so she doesn't have to watch him die. (I like the latter theory best) He's out partying and drinking to forget about (or anger) her and even goes so far as to allow himself to be seduced by one kiss.
When he says "why don't you blow me, a kiss before she goes" it's his way of minimalizing her importance to him, by saying she is just an object.

My Chemical Romance – Cancer Lyrics 17 years ago
Alot of people taking this album the wrong way. I just fell into the MCR groove last year based on the potential of 3 cheers. They could either get better or worse.
You see... punk rock is just rhe basis for what these are doing, it is not the end of their growth but the beginning. Anybody who bought the Life on the Murder Scene DVD new that they were refining their style and damn it, they pulled it off with class (or as much clas as RNR will permit!)
These guys just get better and better at what they envision themselves doing!
This song is awesome. The melody actually kinda reminds me of that Jet song "Look what You've Done" which was definately a tribute to the style of the Beatles, which is what they seem to be doing here. Gerard lists the Beatles as an influence to this album, and they twist it their own way. A guy saying goodbye to his family and friends while he waits for his inevitable death. That is what I imagine to be the hardest part of cancer, lashing out because you can't help but be angry and sad, hoping that they understand and still love you, wishing for the perfect funeral (cause they will never marry)
This song kills me by "favorite colours"
I am not a wuss, this song is freaking powerful, awesome and relateable, cause no matter how bad things are in my world, at least I'm not the patient.

Oh yeah! if You want to understand more about MM's evolution into Wormhood, check the book "Long Hard Road Out Of Hell" He practically tells you what each song is refferencing! A thoroughly entertaining read!!!!

Marilyn Manson – Cryptorchid Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is cool and obviously causes confusion.
The Albums Antichrist Sperstar, Mechanical Animals, and HolyWood are a concept trilogy. AS is the evolution of the worm, MA is the reign of the worm, and HW is the aftershock. The whole trilogy is largely autobiographical referring to snapshots of his life and career. MM as a child went to a Baptist style school in the early part of his life and was subjected to alot of religious propaganda, including some really crazy end of the world theories. It was worse than Catholosism (which has some pretty harsh doctrines, but not crazy ones)
So his religious experience was fairly transparent, and he saw through it quickly (after the end of the world didn't come)
I see cryptorchid as wormboy's revelation that there might be something beyond the beliefs he was being fed.
The prick your finger part? The main element of majick is an energy release through some kind of sacrifice (masturbation or self mutilation being the most common as virgins are in slim demand;))It is written to sound like a pagan chant (and repeated as if it were one)

The Killers – Exitlude Lyrics 17 years ago
This song actually makes me feel sad that the album is over... kinda like saying goodbye to a friend you haven't heard from in a while after catching up with what's going on in their life.

My Chemical Romance – Welcome To The Black Parade Lyrics 17 years ago
Amanda is being tested by John and she fails and is killed by the guy they are playing with.
John is killed by the same man who is then informed that john is the only one who knew where his daughter who is slowly dying is, making Jeff the man responsible for his child's death (his daughter not his Son!) And also: the doctor is Jeff's wife
That is the twist in Saw 3, and I hope I ruined it for all you pathetic gothic punks!

Mr. Bungle – Quote Unquote Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is so about Travolta, and anywone else who was big but then saw their demise!
I had an older version of the album and This song was called Travolta on the notes. I laughed my ass off when I got it again after Pulp Fiction and the title had changed. To be honest, the title became inacurate after his comback. It wasn't a personal stab at Travolta, so much as it was a statement on the fleeting nature of trends:
Hitler: fascism
Swayze: 80s Dirty Dancing
Trump: Capitalism
Travolta: Disco

Mr. Bungle – Squeeze Me Macaroni Lyrics 17 years ago
The Mr Bungle album contained a few samples from Blue Velvet in a few of their songs:
Love is a fist: "I want you to hurt me!"
I can't remember the name of the song:"What are you looking at, f*kc? Don't you F*kingc look at me!"

Mike Patton is notorious for his nonsense lyrics and clever word play. He's just being really gross here (he was only 18 when this album was written!)
It's all about the brilliant precise delivery of this whacked out toungue twister (ever try singing along? I've seen people lose muscle control of their faces just trying!)Patton is a GENIUS!

Taking Back Sunday – Divine Intervention Lyrics 17 years ago
Unarguably the jewel in an otherwise fairly bland album. I've never heard any other album by this band, but at least they are somewhat successful in their experimentation.
This song is freaking beautiful. I see it as a couple of people who have been hurt enough times that they know what they want; and both have fairly unrealistic expectations.
"Something real
And make it timeless
An act of god
nothing less will be accepted!"
Basically, both are waiting for a miracle or a sign,
and are willing to give up the whole thing if they don't get one, and neither one is willing to be the one to provide it. Stalemate!

The Cure – Just One Kiss Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is my favourite cure song ever! I prefer the extended version on The Walk to the puny Japenese Whispers version. It just builds and builds to an inevitable release (like when you are trying to hold back crying only to break down without seeing it coming)

One time, I listened to the Three Imaginary Boys album in the kitchen and when the song was over, the drip of my tap picked up the highhat rhythm where it left off...

I wonder if Deborah and Jarvis met at the fountain. I always wonder if this song cpntained a message to a friend that he lost touch with and wanted to see.
I don't consider this song sad at all, except that it has been so long since he's seen his friend.

Pulp – Help the Aged Lyrics 17 years ago
It's about an older man trying to convince a younger woman that she should be with him. I work in a bar and I see it all the time. They try to brag that they are better and more accomplished because they are older rather than actually trying to seduce them properly. It's a pathetic plea that usually backfires.

Dildo... lol... yeah, I see it! I prefer the forbidden tryst scenario though. If a girl looks under the bed while she is on it with a man though, wouldn't it provide a clear view of her girlie bits? That's what I always thought he meant with the "if you look under the bed..." lyric!

Pulp – She's A Lady Lyrics 17 years ago
Yay! The first to comment on my absolute favorite Pulp song!!!!
The best of the best: the man's perspective crystalized and held up for examination!
Is it just a coincidence that this song reminds me of I will survive, only from a male perspective.
Instead of sitting around being melancholy he is out partying with loose women, and one day soon, you'll see, your gonna, come back to me!!!
Such a sweet anthem, saved me from some pathetic break-up moments!

One of my many fave Pulp tunes. Living knee deep in crap and loving it for the moment. A defiantly joyful punch at anyone who would hold their low class squatter attitude in contempt!

Pulp – The Fear Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is Pulp at it's top form. With access to better equipment and smooth as silk production, he still tries to hold on the mundane monstrosities haunting the everyman. In this song he paralells his post success breakdown with the relatable feelings of depression. He has succeeded but he still feels like a normal person, and now he's well into his thirtys (when this song was written) Jarvis was probably going through the same midlife crisis every man is prone to.
