A Day to Remember – Have Faith in Me Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I agree with ASPbreakdown, "I said I'd never let you fall and I always meant it." I think the chorus sums up the meaning of this song. I love it. |
Alice Smith – Dream Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I've got you all beat - I heard it on Entourage AND The L Word. xD It's so passionate, I love it. |
Vanessa Amorosi – Absolutely Everybody Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I recommend that everybody goes to Youtube right now and watches the video for this. I love this song, but oh my, that video... |
Akon – Right Now (Na Na Na) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Very easy to understand. He wants to make up right now na na. Really good song, it's a lot of fun. Uplifting. |
Fall Out Boy – W.A.M.S. Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Aw man, I really hope it's not "freckle, freckle". I thought it was "f-f-faker, faker", and I thought that made sense. What the hell is freckle?! Really good song though, from an awesome album. |
The Appleseed Cast – Kilgore Trout Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Dude, seriously, my username sounds like the sound a challenged donkey would make. Yours is fine. |
Fall Out Boy – The (Shipped) Gold Standard Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I love this song. My favourite off of Folie A Deux. I think it's to do with being a celebrity, and all the pressure that the band is under - especially with Pete's scandals in the press. It's pretty much saying that he (Pete) can't do much without the media watching him, but at the same time it's also his fault for making the news anyway. This is what I'm hearing, btw, whether it's correct or not I've got no idea. "Tell that boy I'll leave you alone Like a stone, I'll turn my love 'round" The next bit beats me. |
Britney Spears – If U Seek Amy Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Okay whoa, totally did not pick up on the "F-U-C-K Me" thing. This song has taken on a completely new meaning for me. Wow. |
Alphabeat – Fascination Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I can't help but feel so utterly euphoric when listening to this song. And I agree that it's about teenagers falling in love. |
Fall Out Boy – America's Suitehearts Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I think "media please" makes more sense when you couple it with the next line. "Media, please, let's hear it for America's suithearts". It sounds more sarcastic like that to me. Of course I'm not a gridiron fan so if "media blitz" has something to do with that then that might be right. |
Fall Out Boy – America's Suitehearts Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I'm fairly sure it's "I don't know much about classy cars", and "Media please, let's hear it for America's sweethearts". I dunno about the "Classic Coke" thing either... I thought it was "classic rock". Initially I was hearing "classical", haha. Also you left out "hasn't told anyone ELSE yet". No biggie though. |
Katy Perry – Hot N Cold Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Okay, so I'm listening to the radio and Katy Perry herself just intro'd this song as being about a guy who "wants the milk, but doesn't want to buy the cow... like a permanent PMS." I still stand by my original statement though. |
Fall Out Boy – Headfirst Slide Into Cooperstown on a Bad Bet Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Although it seems like an affair, I'm really not sure about the overall meaning of the song. But this line: "Does your husband know the way that the sunshine gleams from your wedding band?" I have a different interpretation than what you guys have been saying. I can see the whole materialistic side of it, but I thought of it as more of an admiration of her. As in, the husband doesn't really take notice of her. The narrator is admiring her, and picks up little details like that about her... if that makes sense. It's like he's questioning the value of their (the husband/wife) relationship, and trying to put himself above the husband, in an "I'm better for you" kind of way. |
Katy Perry – Hot N Cold Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I thought it was about being in a relationship and not getting any. |
Sara Bareilles – Love on the Rocks Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Yeah, I don't think that it's specifically about alcohol and I tend to agree with the first comment, but alcohol is a prevelent theme or metaphor. I mean, "love on the rocks" could mean a "rocky" relationship, or a play on "-insert drink name here- on the rocks" (which means with ice, if you didn't know.) And I agree that this is one of the best on the CD. By faaar. It's lovely. |
Born Of Osiris – The Take Over Lyrics | 15 years ago |
One of my favourites from The New Reign... but the whole album is freakin' stellar. It's kind of obvious but this song's about how everyone's blending in with each other, and how we're all afraid to stand up for our rights and beliefs. |
The Human Abstract – Breathing Life Into Devices Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Favourite song off the album right now. Lovin' it! No freaking idea what it's about though. |
Sara Bareilles – Morningside Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Well, I guess she's a morning person then, eh? I can see how it's a happy song now though. We think of mornings, we can think of a sunrise, like a new beginning, a fresh start. Renewel, revival. Etc. |
Fergie – Labels or Love Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Yeah, this opened the movie awesomely - I love how it's got the SATC theme in the background too. To be honest, that's probably the only reason why I like this song, heh. |
The Pussycat Dolls – When I Grow Up Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Well, having boobies DOES help out when obtaining groupies, so... |
Katy Perry – I Kissed a Girl Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I agree completely with ecksohhhh, but adding in my own two cents in response to seraphicreverie; I can see where you're coming from, but you're not looking at all the factors in creating such an argument. You have to look at history. The current generation, yes, is exposed to sex and homosexuality. Why? Because we're more accepting, we're less likely to discriminate against someone because of their sexuality - we're living in a time when we allow someone to express themselves sexually, regardless of their preference. In generations past, homosexuality was frowned upon, and that includes the experimentation that goes along with it. Of course people weren't going to open up about it! This generation embraces peoples' differences and choices. People now feel free to experiment to see what/who they rather without the fear of social isolation. Who's to say they're not aloud to do that? But back to the song - it's pretty damn funky. I agree with chickacherrycola. |
Mariah Carey – Touch My Body Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"I best not catch this flick on Youtube" - LOL, now we all know what Mariah searches for on the internet. Good song though, it's sexy and funky. |
Madonna – 4 Minutes Lyrics | 16 years ago |
The generic single runs for about 4 minutes long, even if it's a radio edit, to fit in with programs. The three of them - Madonna, Justin and Timbaland have obviously all had hit singles released onto the charts, so they've only got four minutes to "save the world", to take the world by storm with their songs. We're always waiting for them to put out their next single ("time is waiting"). The verses are like them trying to appeal to their audiences, "tell me how you want to roll", "speed it up for me then take it down slow, there's enough room for both", "I can tell that you like it, and it's good by the way that you move", etc, etc. Hard to explain it all but I know what I'm talking about. |
Sara Bareilles – Morningside Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I think it's a bit of a combination of all of the above. To me, it's about a guy who she can't help but keep on falling for - that one person that you're just a sucker for - and he knows how to play her to get with her. It sounds like he's using her for sex; he'd be there for her when she needs him so he can get what he wants. "I could rage like a fire and you'd bring rain I desire 'til you get to me on my morningside." |
Sara Bareilles – Love Song Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I love how this song is at the label, saying "I'm not going to write you a love song", yet if someone were to hear this song without reading any interviews about it, they'd say that it was about love and a relationship. It's so ironic, and so damn clever. |
End of Fashion – O Yeah Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"I'm amazing, she's a cow." "She said 'I had a dirty dream'." I haven't heard this song in years and I can tell you that off the top of my head. xD |
The Veronicas – Someone Wake Me Up Lyrics | 16 years ago |
It's the whole "dream" state after a breakup, where it's come as such a shock or so suddenly that it's like it's not real. Hence, "someone wake me up." Great song. The fact that this is the second comment on it makes me sad. |
The Veronicas – Speechless Lyrics | 16 years ago |
One of the few soft songs (in general, not by these girls) that I love and listen to. It gives you me warm and fuzzy feeling inside. And I'm sure everybody has that somebody they think of when they listen to it. |
Goldfinger – Superman Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Nah man, it's got nothing to do with a relationship. It's about how the world is pushing you to grow up too fast. He's trying to hold on to what he has now, which is his youth and freedom, but everyone around him is telling him to change and act his age. And like almost everyone else here, I got into this song from THPS. I still know all the words to it from nearly 10 years ago. |
Horse the Band – A Rusty Glove Lyrics | 16 years ago |
It's about masturbation. How am I the only person on here to get that? |
Rogue Traders – 8th Wonder Of The World Lyrics | 16 years ago |
One of the best from Better In The Dark, easily. I think it's about the thrill of their live shows, tearing the roof off (which is literally described all through their verses) and how much fun they have performing. They have an absolute blast and there's nothing like it for them, so they feel on top of the world. |
Rogue Traders – I Never Liked You Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I laughed so hard when I first heard this song. I'm pretty sick of it now, but it's still good. Meaning's obvious. She never liked him. :D |
Killswitch Engage – Unbroken Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Yeah, um, seriously, where are all the comments for this awesome song? It's a great motivational song. Tackle all obstacles, don't let anything get you down, etc, etc. |
Rogue Traders – Throw Your Arms Around Me Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Their best song IMO. It's pretty self explanatory I think - being attracted to another person, and just generally fantisizing about them. |
A Wilhelm Scream – Congratulations Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Excuse the double comment but I forget to mention something. She's a player/whore. "There's a waiting list... I'm gonna be there too." So she's done this before to all different sorts of people, she's known for being a heartbreaker, and he's going to be the next one on her list. |
A Wilhelm Scream – Congratulations Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I agree with happy.arm - he's addicted, yet he feels like he's in a rut because of her. "Congratulations" is obviously sarcastic, like "look at where we are, good fucking job." There should be more comments on this song. One of my favourites from Ruiner. |
Nelly – Work It Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Uh yeah, lots of the lyrics here are wrong. Along with "Quench your thirst"... "Talkin' to me like you're talkin' to an analyst." "Let your waist pop when the bass hot." "Until there's no clock." "20 carets after nine." "I like your Air Max, the shirt with no back, she showin' off her tats." "She's 5'5', brown eyes, in stillettos." "It's full steam ahead." "Burning all the red lights." "Down south shorties." "She got me hypnotized." But that's not the point. 6 years on and this song is still awesome. |
The Cab – I'll Run Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This song is going to make these guys massive, I call it now. I hope it's on the album. (It should be.) Reading the lyrics now, it makes me think that he's trying to gain the trust of someone who's been hurt, like elis3xx said, but it kind of makes me think it was to do with sexual abuse. "I can see it in your eyes you're scared All these things they force you to do aren't fair I'm here to chase away these tears And baby, we can chase away these fears Because sometimes, baby, you fall on your back But girl, you're three times a lady I'll ever have" |
Coheed and Cambria – The End Complete IV: The Road and the Damned Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This song still gives me chills. I bawled the first time I heard it, haha. I read in an interview that Claudio had images of two planets about to collide, with Claudio on one and Newo on the other. (From memory, I read it around the time of album release.) I got the same sort of image, all slow-mo and dramatic and such. This is definately the world's end, the story's conclusion. |
Miley Cyrus – G.N.O. (Girl's Night Out) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I agree with chica_bball - Amarrra, your face. This song is so much fun, seriously. It speaks for itself; it's about her just wanting to have a girl's night out with her friends and not wanting to think about guys. |
Coheed and Cambria – The Hound (Of Blood and Rank) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I like GoodApollo's idea of "I'll dig it till we've made your grave" - I can definately hear that, and it fits in the context too. Man we need this album, like, right now. |
Coheed and Cambria – The Hound (Of Blood and Rank) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I dunno about "the labor of use" - throwing something else out there, it could be "only your evil that they refuse". Or it sounds like it could have the word "abuse" in it. Damn Claudio and his hard to understand lyrics! |
Coheed and Cambria – The Hound (Of Blood and Rank) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Excuse the double postage, but: "I bid you to invade your ways" I think it could be "I bid you to evade your ways", it kind of makes more sense to me. Just a thought that came a few seconds late of my previous comments. |
Coheed and Cambria – The Hound (Of Blood and Rank) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This song's gotta be about Apollo, and I'm assuming that's the dog that's in the "Willing Well Part 1" video they've released. This is what I've been able to pick up though, lyric wise. "while the willing. ???. Boy, You've got another thing coming." The end of the ??? is "The hound of blood and rank, boy you've got another thing coming.", but I don't know all of it. "No room to mourn what you have lost, oh a waiting for the willing. ???... of what's coming." Same goes here; the end part of it is "the hound of blood and rank who deserves every ounce of what's coming." I'm suprised I'm one of the first on here to pick it up, considering it's the name of the song. :D |
Paramore – That's What You Get Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Silverchair's "Straight Lines" is absolutely awful in my opinion - but why is this being discussed on a Paramore page?! Anyhow, I think this song is about the power of the heart. It's almost like she wants to learn to think with her head and act on logic than her impulses. But she knows, no matter what, her heart will "start a riot in [her]", and will often be the dominant force in her actions. |
Dark Tranquillity – Terminus (Where Death Is Most Alive) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I don't know, I like Vasa's theory, but something makes me think the "death" they're referring to is death metal, the music they make. "Where death is most alive"... Gothenburg. Eh, just a thought. Vasa's theory makes a lot more sense. xD |
Metallica – Don't Tread On Me Lyrics | 16 years ago |
While on a similar subject matter, it's not really about nationalism, or the revolution directly. It's more focused on the symbol of the snake than anything else. Ben Franklin wrote an essay describing how the snake was perfect as the symbol of the American colonies; much of the song is in almost direct reference to that essay. "Shining with brightness, always on surveillance. (The eyes, they never close) Emblem of Vigilance." "eye excelled in brightness, that of any other animal, and that she has no eye-lids—She may therefore be esteemed an emblem of vigilance." "Never Begins it, never, but once engaged. Never surremders, showing the fangs of rage" "She never begins an attack, nor, when once engaged, ever surrenders" "Love it or leave it, She with the deadly bite. Quick is the blue tongue, forked as the lightning strike" "She strongly resembles America in this, that she is beautiful in youth and her beauty increaseth with her age, “her tongue also is blue and forked as the lightning, and her abode is among impenetrable rocks.”" http://www.americanheritage.com/articles/magazine/ah/1988/2/1988_2_74.shtml It may be, as some have suggested, questioning the symbol the rattlesnake provides, but to me it seems more like they're describing the snake - paraphrasing Ben's essay. That's my opinion, of course. |
Kamelot – Across the Highlands Lyrics | 16 years ago |
One comment? What the hell. This is one of my favourites by them. |
All Time Low – Break Out! Break Out! Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This song isn't as much about "escaping" as it is progressing. It's about the band breaking out into the music business. |
Kanye West – Stronger Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Agreed with ThoR294. Though, I still really like this song. It's a new spin on a classic DP track. And I'm not too clear on the meaning myself. |
