Supertramp – Rudy Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I can't help but think that part of the song might relate to insanity/mental illness in someway. Particularly the closing lyrics: "Now he's just come out the movie Numb of all the pain Sad but in a while he'll soon be Back on his train..." For some reason it just makes me think of some of my chronic psych patients I see in the ER. |
Iron Maiden – Fear of the Dark Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I totally love the live versions of this song: Like this one here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lloB8s4aew Especially the part where Bruce laughs with that evil laugh of his.... |
The Rolling Stones – Gimme Shelter Lyrics | 17 years ago |
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7P0NG4wcxEg PERFECT video to the song... |
Dire Straits – Telegraph Road Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Kick ass solo at the end... |
The Alan Parsons Project – Damned If I Do Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Can't believe this classic song has no entries! Wow! Where do I start? Can we say 'lover's dilemma'? This song is about a person who loves someone else, but the love may/maynot be reciprocated... and the ensuing, conflicting thoughts are the theme. I think the highlight of the song is "conflict" or "clash". The person in love is "damned if they do" or "damned if they don't" because their attraction is so strong that they can't think of anything else... but on the other hand, rejection is a looming specter because the person cannot deal with the "rejection" either. |
Iron Maiden – The Phantom of the Opera Lyrics | 17 years ago |
By the way, the song is certainly about the boko Phantom of the Opera written by Gaston leroux. The books is a story is about a man named Erik, a deranged but brilliant man who terrorises an opera with his disfigured face. In the book, he builds builds his lair under the opera and there trains his love, a beautiful soprano. |
Iron Maiden – The Phantom of the Opera Lyrics | 17 years ago |
From Wikipedia::: [quote] A heavy metal song by the band Iron Maiden about the book was recorded for the Iron Maiden album, released in 1980 and in its live singles cover, the band's mascot Eddie is playing organ and holding Phantom's mask. [end quote] Great song - I like the "running" feeling of the song :-) |
Scorpions – This Is My Song Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is a great song! Check out the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2R_Yhfpun4 |
Rainbow – Catch The Rainbow Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmKgipZhSMw Nowhere close to the classic but an admirable effort no less! |
The Hollies – Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Actually when I first heard this song, "CCR" instantly flashed into my mind. It's hard NOT to draw the parallel - it sounds very much like a CCR song. Great song though - I thought it was some gumshoe-theme song too :-) |
Swervedriver – Never Lose That Feeling/Never Learn Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Check out the dreamy guitared, sax-drenched, thrumming bass, thumping drum mixed "Never Learn" bit... Almost progressive-rock-esque. Absolutely brilliant! |
Swervedriver – Last Train to Satansville Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Wow! Talk about delusional love! Fringging awesome song! :-) |
The Smiths – How Soon Is Now? Lyrics | 17 years ago |
What a great song! [quote] The worst part is the advice we get -- which is of course from very social people that have no trouble meeting people. They think we're a great guy/girl (albeit not for them) and that it'll happen for us any time now. [end quote] Ditto! |
Sneaker Pimps – 6 Underground Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Wasn't this song featured on the soundtrack for one of the "Cruel Intentions" movies? Lovely voice though! |
Mark Knopfler – What It Is Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Knopfler is truly as much a folk mucisian as he is a rock star. Songs like this "explain" why.. |
Mark Knopfler – Silvertown Blues Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Vastly under-rated song. To me, it always reminds me of Buffalo, NY. Some say "A dying city", a "shrinking city". Yet others say "A vibrant city", a "hopeful city". A city past it's prime and part of the rust belt? Or a city shaking off it's old demons and emerging fresh and new? Great song, either ways. |
Enigma – I Love You... I'll Kill You Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I agree with Vovin. I had a very 'interesting' experience with this song. It happened when I was home on furlough and I was driving down to the Alleghanies (Souther Tier. Western New York. 219-S, y'dig?) Anyways, I spent some wonderful times with my girl and for some reason, as I was driving along down that dark, foggy road into the mountains, with a lake by the side of the road... this song came on in my CD player. I ended up liking it so much, that I put it on constant "repeat" and two hours later when my girl woke up, I was still listening to that song! LOL. Anyways, everytime I hear this song now, my mind flashes back to that road trip. I also recall scenes from Tom Clancy's "Without Remorse" when I hear this song. Parts of that book deal with incredible sadness and pain - and also vengence and justince. Apt reading material for this song :) |
Elton John – Love Lies Bleeding Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Only four comments for this great song? I prefer the lyrics rather than the musical intro (Funeral For A Friend). This song is all that more moving when you consider that Elton John is homosexual - singing about his "love" being "with another man" :-) |
Dream Theater – Funeral for a Friend / Love Lies Bleeding (Elton John cover) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Beautiful cover of the Elton John song! |
Dire Straits – You & Your Friend Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I can't believe no one commented on this one! To me, this song evokes sadness and melancholy. Very beautiful song! |

Pearl Jam – Army Reserve Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Nice NorthWriter! :) I agree. |
Led Zeppelin – Achilles Last Stand Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Fabulous song! I just love it and the poetic references. Magical song - and I like the way it "feels"... the kind of running/driving motion. Know what I mean? :-) Bonham was simply phenomenal. DreamTheater did a pretty decent cover of this song too. |
Dire Straits – Follow Me Home Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Fabulous abss line on the song. Soft, yet underscored. |

The Cure – A Forest Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I love this song! It just reminds me of running - like Forrest Gump running, y'dig? Just running, deeper and deeper and deeper, crashing through the brush and undergrowth... chasing or being chased.... |
Nirvana – Polly Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Thanks Fenderbender! That was well said! |
The Doors – End Of The Night Lyrics | 18 years ago |
By the way, this song also references Louis Ferdinand Destouches' book "Journey To The End Of The Night" --- "a novel of savage, exultant misanthropy, full of cynical humour and the blackest pessimism in respect of humanity." (from wikipedia) |
Rhea's Obsession – End Of The Night Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is a song by "The Doors" |
The Doors – End Of The Night Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I too love the surreal atmosphere of this song... |
The Doors – The End Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Logornko - The End was released on their very first record. Jim still had years to go before his 'end'. So nope, you're way off the mark ;-) |
Uriah Heep – July Morning Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I agree - fucking excellent song. The jam in the end is just fantabulousticallyexcellent! :-) |
U2 – Exit Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I liked the symbolism of the last two lines as well. Reflected deeply in my personal life - I was a soldier but now I work in healthcare. My hands - the same plain hands - hold the power to heal or the power to kill. |
The Doors – The End Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is my best song. Most favourite of favourite songs. The one song I would choose if I could chosoe just one song and one song only - all bands, all generes, all eras. It's THAT good. |
U2 – Running To Stand Still Lyrics | 18 years ago |
While salvation through jesus maybe a part of the theme, I don't think this song is about that. The song clearly references addiction. One of their quite under-rated songs IMHO. |
Eminem – Marshall Mathers Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Somedays just deserve this song. Y'all know what I'm talking about. Somedays are just so damned shitty, you wanna put this song on loud and basically tell the whole fucking world to piss off! LOL I just love the raw energy in this song.... |
Coldplay – Daylight Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I just really love the part where is starts going "Slowing breaking thru the daylight..." over and over again and again.... Great song :-) |
Coldplay – High Speed Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I just love this song. So mellow. laid back. Chilllll....... |
Sarah Brightman – Dust in the Wind Lyrics | 18 years ago |
It's originally a song by Kansas This song always reminds me of the poem "Ozymandias" by Shelley - the eternally transient nature of man and life itself. |
Scorpions – When The Smoke Is Going Down Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Naw. Nothin beats the original though :-) |
Scorpions – Life's Like A River Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Agreed. Very emotional song. To me it just portrays someone who's kinda spent. Y'dig? Done with life and all that.... |
Scorpions – Big City Nights Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Scorpions – Inheritance Lyrics | 18 years ago |
