I've heard stories of when my grandpa was sick, on his deathbed, and my grandma would sing this to him. They were really really in love. So a while back, I went through this really horrible relationship. I totally relate to this song. Its almost like they are both incredibly jaded, but "he" has the mindset that he made her what she is today. And "he" definitely wants credit. "She" simply cannot believe that "he" would think that who she is as a person had/has anything to do with who "she" is. Honestly? I think this is a very very very narcissistic song from HIS outlook. He thinks he did her a great deal of positivity when it came to her meager little life as a cocktail waitress. That's what my ex was. A narcissistic sociopath. She thought she owned me and that I should THANK HER for the person I was today. She was also super abusive - she only raised her hand to me once, but those of you that have dealt with verbal and emotional abuse, know its just as bad as physical abuse. Anyway. I always loved this song. But it took the version from Young Summer for me to really sit down and read the song lyrics. |

Yea this can definitely go one of two ways. 1- Its about being in love with someone that really doesn't deserve it, they kind of just wish you to the way-side. But, just the same, you love them and you REALLY want them to fight for this love. 2- It could also be about losing someone you love. Suicide. I just recently lost someone a few years ago, in that form, and it really shakes your faith. It makes you angry. It makes you confused. It makes you feel like you lost something you will never get back. IDK. I actually came here to see what everyone else thought. But unfortunately, there are only 2 comments. I really like this song and have been listening to it along with a handful of other songs. They make me super-moody. Anywayz I think its about loving someone and all the great things that come along with love. | This is a really great song but Im gonna have to disagree with what "our" said. I think this is a relationship between two people that do love eachother alot. Its just that the one person gives everything, and puts so much love and TRUE promises out there, they want to make it work and will do anything because of love itself but also because they really do deeply truly love this other person. And the second person loves just as much as the other person but continues to deny it to theirselves. They make promises they cant keep. They wrap you around their finger and you have nothing to show for it but a broken heart and alot of broken empty promises that were supposed to be fullfilled and were not. Its about love and how much it means to one person, to show it and speak it and feel it.
