I agree - I think - with whatever you just said. I think the background and bongos are what makes t rex so good. Bolan sucks. Just kidding - marc bolan is cool too. This is a great song. On the acoustic version it sounds like he's saying "give me a doctor" but the liner notes definitely say "give me your daughter". Just in case anyone else had that question. |

Pavement is THE band from the 90's. I can't see why anyone would compare them to Radiohead...but then it seems even more ridiculous to compare them to barenaked ladies or smashmouth. Try listening to a little more pavement. You'll see the light. Or maybe you won't. I don't know. And I don't care. Why did I even post this? I'm an idiot. Now I'm really pissed off too. But I do like this song. Especially the part where the other guy says "I know him, and he does" and then Malkmus says "then you're my fact checkin' cuz". I thought that was clever. I have no idea what this song is about - or pretty much any other pavement song either. ANyone have any idea? |

I think the first lines of the first two verses should be "running out of things to be..." and "running out of things to do, ..." and I think in the third verse could be "I've got trees to break" instead of drink. Hell of a song though. The only real rockin' song on the album. |

Great song. Like alot of "one foot in the grave" the song is dark and gives a sense of impending doom. It should be "Riot cops and cheerleaders". I don't know who does the backing vocals on this song but he and beck should team up more often. (It kind of sounds like Chris Ballew from Presidents of the USA and he did do some work on the album but he's not credited w/ any vocals. Maybe its someone else) |

He had a twin sister that died at birth or something like that and it influenced his writing I guess. I think its supposed to be "in a jar where you fed me". Could be wrong on that though. Its definitely from a pet's perspective, but what is the deal with the dreaded scabs and knife wounds? This song seems to be more about the pet's owner. Someone with dark secrets of victimization or self abuse or something. Someone whose only confidant is kept in a jar by their bedside and somehow understands all their problems. What's up with the bizarre moaning and screaming in the middle of the song? Is that a porno dubbed into the song? Anyway this is a hell of a song. Lou's cool bassline carries the whole thing through and then j's solo is stellar as always. |
