Robbie Williams – Rudebox Lyrics
|
typical robbie williams, has got caught up in his own hype and thinks he can record sub standard (c)rap , the most over rated person in pop and yes that includes madonna! swindles his fan base with this nonsense, the fact the album this was on was selling for £1.99 weeks after its release tells you a lot. |

The Beatles – All You Need Is Love Lyrics
| 16 years ago
|
Evidence that Lennons creative flow was drying up and Mccartneys work was more focussed and inspired. This is pretty cheesy and if it was any other group but the Beatles it would have been slaughtered. |

The Beatles – Taxman Lyrics
|
inspired by the taxation system of charging 95p in the £1 to high earners, harrisson deliberately mentions both heath and wilson to cover the beatles political leanings. Memorable for mccartneys inspired bass lines later used by bruce foxton of the jam on start and the guitar solo also by mccartney that comes out of nowhere. Harrissons best beatles track with the exception of something. |

The Beatles – Revolution 1 Lyrics

like the single version best, some great guitar work from lennon, harrison and mccartney who was also a great guitarist (listen to taxman as proof) shame it was up against hey jude because it would stand up as a single in its own right |

The Beatles – I Want You (She's So Heavy) Lyrics
| 16 years ago
|
I love the moog atmospherics in this song which complement the heavy bass/guitar sound - the lyrics were hardly inspired but that is part of the beauty of the song, interesting ending cutting off in mid bar after seven and a half minutes, sounded like one of the few instances on abbey road that the whole group were on the same wavelength and all contributing |

The Beatles – Maxwell's Silver Hammer Lyrics

the beatles/paul mccartney didn't get much wrong ,heres one of the few exceptions, muted as a potential single but not even worth giving to cilla black! - a serious misjudgement and the worst song on abbey road |

Alphabeat – Fascination Lyrics

the song is about how to create a cheesy eurodisco beat which has about the same quality as a toy from poundland, absolutely dreadful! |

John Lennon – Give Peace a Chance Lyrics

I love most of what the beatles did ,but a majority of the beatles solo stuff didnt do the business. its an ok song but lennon did many songs that make this song a second division struggler more scunthorpe than chelsea i'm afraid |

cheesy dance beat sounding like my alarm clock, image of cascada singing live to a backing tape what is music coming to when dross like this hits the airwaves.Beware musicians with talent you will need a p45 soon if this manufactured synthetic corny lyric nonsense is the future of music |

Big Country – The Teacher Lyrics

This song is about wanting to know everything both emotionally, and spiritually. This is as good a song as Stuart Adamson wrote and he wrote a lot of good ones. Big country at their creative peak |

Queen – Under Pressure Lyrics

Queen were vastly overrated and heres one of the prime examples, a boring song so good it was nicked by that multi hit wonder vanilla ice, the bass sends me to sleep after a stressful day at work. |

probably the most ferocious Smiths song all over in 2 minutes, agree not one of morrisseys most thought provoking lyrics but musically is the Smiths at their best |

The Jam – English Rose Lyrics
|
I love the way this is so different from most Jam songs, in terms of tempo and quality this is up there with carnation and fly as some of wellers most beutiful songs. If this is the new direction that weller had taken in 1981-1982 I would have had few complaints. |

The Jam – The Bitterest Pill Lyrics

The Smiths – The Queen Is Dead Lyrics
|
The Humour and irony of this song makes this the smiths at the peak of there powers. When Marr wrote the music I cannot imagine he thought even morrissey could come up with something quite as cutting and yet humourous to go with what has to be the most powerful offering the smiths produced. All the musicians play their part especially the drumming of Mike Joyce and together with morrisseys tongue in cheek attack on the royal family. |

The Smiths – Death of a Disco Dancer Lyrics
| 17 years ago
|
one of the most underated smiths songs with a nice dear prudence style feel to it, the climax to the song is fantastic, if you crank up the last couple of seconds of the song you can hear Johnny Marr say "that was great!" and it is truly the most glorious end to any song I have heard. Even Morrissey musically plays his part. |

The Jam – Beat Surrender Lyrics
|
tuley75 - so as a fan of the Jam who happens to think from funeral pyre onwards the group lost its edge and did songs that were more suited to the stle counsil stuff makes me an idiot. Diversity at the cost of content and quality and alienating the fanbase isn't always a good thing. Like you I am entitled to an opinion there's no need for the insult, if you think Beat Surrender is the definitive Jam song then it is you that is the idiot.Try listening to songs like In the city to Butterfly collector to man in the corner shop to see Wellers true worth as a songwriter. |

Buzzcocks – Are Everything Lyrics

this song had so much potential, a very catcy riff spoilt by sloppy production and violas? on a buzzcocks record. This could have been massive and one of my favourite buzzcocks songs. What the heck were heaven 17 doing covering this, they should have been up in court for murder. |

one of my favourite intros dual guitars just going for it with dreamy vocals. Ride could have been big had they not been in the creation shadow of oasis and decide to do a retro understated 3rd album just as definitely maybe became huge. |

Oasis – Champagne Supernova Lyrics
|
one of Oasis best. I wonder if Andy Bell ever chats to Noel Gallagher about the guitar solo half way through the song as it appears to be the same as the end of close my eyes when it was played live, written by andy bell whilst in his first band Ride. Still Noel would admit himself hes nicked a few riffs in his time. |
