Vola – Starburn Lyrics 6 years ago
I feel like this song is from the perspective of an introvert (with some amount of social anxiety) trying to fit into a society dominated by extroverts. There's a lot of lines about doing things against your will, most prominently "I have worked against my code, forcing my feet to align" - pretty strong image of trying to be something you are not and how impossible it is to achieve. Additionally, "I've collected every sight needed to calm my eye" strongly hints towards taking some quiet walks, something introverts usually like to do to calm down again after being exposed to a lot of social activities.
The later lines also fit that image pretty perfectly, "searching for confidence, watching the evidence in his fears" - as long as this person is scared in these situations, there's no way to have any kind of confidence in himself. Other people take it from things they can do good, but in this context only the lack of something can do it, again something very unique for this kind of issue.

Finally, the last line "He will never leave his solitude 'cause he will never leave his thoughts of you" seems to be about how this person constantly thinks about people judging them. He will never be able to stop that, so the only solution for him is to stay alone.

So in the end it's kind of being in a situation of losing that fight to fit in. There's a strong defeated vibe to it shown with lines like "I've been holding back the night, now I'm holding back the day". To me, this line is indicating that he previously used the nights to calm down after trying during daytime (school, work, whatever), but that he also is starting to stop trying in those situations.

Very personal interpretation and I might be completely off, but to me this fits perfectly.

Deftones – Phantom Bride Lyrics 6 years ago
@[kisstharing:23208] I wouldn't link it to MMOs this specifically, but that's also the essence I got out of this song. It's about shutting yourself in and spending all your time in your home (Playing games, watching TV; whatever else there could be) due to negative experiences. Hence the "never be harmed *again*" line. As always with the Deftones, the lyrics are so vague that you can basically attach your own personal story to it. It fits perfectly for your MMO case, but it could also be someone who was bullied in school and started spending their time watching TV daily; it could be someone who was ditched by his girlfriend and started playing roleplay games, or whatever.

One thing I'm always missing when seeing interpretations of this is the actual title of the song. Why Phantom Bride? What does this title add? What does it refer to?
With our line of thinking, this link is rather easy: In MMOs, some people tend to fall in love with other players without really knowing anything about them. You might meet some kind of girl and start developing feelings based on your imagination of the actual person behind it. Hence she becomes a "phantom bride" - it's not actually the human behind it you fall in love with, but rather a fictional being that you created in your head. In some extreme cases, the same case happens in the anime culture as well, where people fall in love with characters they knew are fictional to begin with.

Devin Townsend – Sister Lyrics 9 years ago
@[D_sweat:673] I'm pretty sure it's "There's nothing that I can say" - it's even clearer in his acoustic live performances.
Really great, atmospheric song.

Based on the mood and the songs leading to this track, I feel like this is meant almost apologetic. "Night" and "Hide Nowhere" have lyrics that clearly indicate a very dreamy, emotionally reclusive person who somehow lost connection to the world. His sister may be someone who cannot handle this behavior and wants to know why he is acting like that, to which he cannot even find answers himself.

I'm sure there are hundreds of possible interpretations, but this is how I view it.

Devin Townsend – N9 Lyrics 9 years ago
Going away from the abstract Ziltoid story, I feel like this song is about something that you enjoy, but isn't doing you any good in the long run. A good example would be drugs, and I also think the lyrics fit that theme the best.
The first lines seem to be about how you don't want the moments to end when you are high and how much they seem to open up your mind ("Explain to me, infinity"). I know that many artists are using drugs because they believe to write better songs with them, and those lines sum that behavior up quite good I think.
Nevertheless, it's over sooner or later and you might even and up worse than before, hence the "yet so vulnerable" line.

Idiot Pilot – A Light at the End of the Tunnel Lyrics 9 years ago
Thanks for the correct lyrics. My interpretation goes into the same direction. As for the "false documents" part I have a little theory:
The "pulling the trigger" line is actually meant literally, but the suicide-attempt failed and left him in a horrible condition in which you cannot live normally anymore. Hence he's asking the doctors to make up reasons to be able to end his misery.
It's a little bit far-fetched, but it would explain some earlier lines to me - e.g. why he said "imagined state of illness" and "I wish I'd thought of that". It sounds like he realized things weren't as bad as he thought they were before and deeply regrets how he threw his life away. The whole eerie, tranquil atmosphere also supports that for me - it makes you almost feel like you lie somewhere helplessly, disconnected from the world, full of sadness and regrets.

Devin Townsend – Color Your World Lyrics 9 years ago
This song really grew on me and has become my favorite of Devin Townsend.

Just the moods of this song tell a story of their own: The first part has this "It's all so unfair and meaningless!" kind of vibe, but slowly starts to build up to pure anger and feeling superior. Just by listening to the "I don't give a shit" part I can really see a person screaming the lines with their head held high, feeling superior to everyone.
But very subtle, this anger turns more and more into desperation and the realization how fake this "strength" actually is. It really amazes me how this change is happening in such a short amount of time until the "far far far away" line part is starting. That part can really only be described as "eargasm", I get a shiver down my spine everytime I listen to it. The voices, the rhythm, the very subtle guitar solo accompanying it (it's so fitting that it isn't the dominant instrument in this part) - it's like each instrument represents thoughts that overlap into some sort of sad chaos. Really the most powerful part to me.
When the arpeggios start we finally see how weak and "soft" Ziltoid actually is. Any aggression is completely gone. The moment the song is getting a bit more aggressive again is from the perspective of the Omnidimensional Creator who finally tells him the hard truth, so it seems to me that Ziltoid is completely broken at this point (note that "The Greys" is also one of the softer songs).

I can imagine that this is somehow connected to Devin's career as a musician, hence the references to older songs, as other users already noticed here. But I don't like assuming things about the composers of songs since music isn't always personal, so I won't go any more into that.

Putting aside the story about Ziltoid on this album, this song can reflect almost every person who's having some kind of low point in their life. You feel that everything is unfair in this world, and after a while you get so sick of it that you turn that feeling into anger. "Maybe everything is unfair, but I will be strong and defy it anyway!". At some point, however, this shell completely breaks apart and you fall even deeper than where you've been before, feeling completely weak and vulnerable. But this marks the point where you start to see what you really want in life.

The "you are a puppet" line, while it seems to be about aliens in the Ziltoid-Story, could easily be seen as "human nature" in that context. No matter who you are, in the end you have the same desires as everyone else. You are not special, you are not superior, you don't stand above it.
The best example would be someone who was cheated on and lost their partner because of it. Although I haven't experienced it myself, I can imagine people going through the exact same stages as described before. But in the end, they need to open their heart for other people again.

40 Below Summer – Untied Lyrics 10 years ago
What a hidden masterpiece. I'm especially amazed by the lyrics since they are generally more straight-forward from this band.

Seems to me like it's about someone who doesn't have anyone to relate to and keeps being pulled down by his depressions. On top of that already as far as doing self-harming and actively thinking about suicide. Still there's always the thought "I've made it this far, should I really give up at this point?" which prevents the person from really ending their life. The second verse also seems to hint that this person used to search for a scapegoat for everything that went wrong (who doesn't?), but since they are all alone for some time now that didn't work out anymore.

The whole vibe of the song seems to fit well with that interpretation - it's kind of seclusive as a whole - plus there's always a short scream in the chorus that quickly sounds much more desperate with the melodic second word...it kinda fits these depression-mixture of negative emotions.

Deftones – Riviere Lyrics 10 years ago
Wow, thanks for that information. In that context it really does make sense. "She" is referring to death. It's literally waiting around every corner, in this case of course the roads because that's where it all happened to Chi. "The arms red and injured" referring to the whole time he spent on a drip in the hospital.
I think you're right with the chorus meaning. You can still cling to life and escape death for a while, but in the end you just give in and that's it.

This comment just made the song much more meaningful to me. Thanks again.

Joy Division – Isolation Lyrics 12 years ago
As someone with a social anxiety disorder I can relate to this song way too much.
A fear that never goes away. You wake up with it, you get into bed with it. You're afraid of things that are weeks in the future and of things that are tomorrow almost equally.
You feel inferior to everyone, but you don't look up to them either because you just aren't like them. You always try to fit into the world despite all these problems, but everything weakens you so much that you don't have the energy you need to be someone anyone can be proud of. However, other people don't understand that, not even in your family. You have to look for other reasons to explain your strange behavior, although that disconnects you even more from everyone.
The only moments to get some energy back and that you actually enjoy are the ones in which you are alone. It's fun, it's relaxing, it's like medicine. However, people can't understand that either and will criticize you for it. You become too boring for everyone. You have to argue why you don't want to travel around the world and make parties 24/7.

And that's the contradiction that follows you your whole life. You enjoy those things the most that alienate you, which in return increase the fears even further so that you want to spend even more time alone. But you can't help but cherish those lonely hours without any worries.

The Smashing Pumpkins – Real Love Lyrics 12 years ago
This song just keeps growing and growing on me, it's amazing.

I see the song a little more abstract than many of you. As always it's a very personal interpretation and probably off.
To me this whole song is about love itself. About what it means to us and what it actually is. I won't make detailed descriptions of every line in here, but mainly to me it's about how we put our hopes into something that simply doesn't exist. We see the so-called "real love" as a lifesaver that will put us out of our misery one day, when actually we just keep waiting and suffering in the process. Especially the last part ("We never listen - real love will listen" etc.) sounds to me like we don't put any effort into it when this is actually the key to make it happen (or at least the key to make life less miserable by accepting the reality). So instead of creating real love we hope it will magically appear, but it just doesn't work that way.
My favorite line is "Or is it me you're after?" because it really has so much to interpret. It could mean a question like "Do you want to wait for something that'll never come or am I worthy of putting effort into it?" in the context of my general interpretation - I personally see it a bit more negative since I always tend to love someone who doesn't feel the same, so my personal interpretation is in the situation before actually confessing the love: "Will you wait for someone you really love or could it be possible you'd waste your time with someone like me?" - as always with Pumpkins songs it's really up to the listener.

Blackfield – Zigota Lyrics 13 years ago
I totally agree with Aniland. Simple as that. The only thing that comes into my mind as well is this part:

'Soon you'll find, soon you'll find
Today is just the future of the past'

Sounds to me like it's not just a normal death, but some kind of mistake that finally caught up with him. It may be some tragic event that led to suicide or maybe even something that got him killed - like joining a war and in this moment being in a situation where you know you will not return alive.

Maybe I'm reading too much into that since I agree with Poojunkatron that Blackfield lyrics usually are very straightforward.

Blackfield – Glow Lyrics 13 years ago
My favorite song of this album. I guess everyone can at least sometimes relate to that except for the self-injury line ("I hurt myself to let the darkness out" is such a wonderful description for that btw.!). I especially love the chorus lines because that's something I always felt myself. It's not like something's gone from one day to another, but while growing up it slowly disappears and you can do nothing about it.

Blackfield – Dissolving with the Night Lyrics 13 years ago
Aviv: "It's about the way I've seen people around me. All the people that are not really living the life. Only going to work, coming back, going to nice parties and stuff. [...] like a stupid and easy way to live your life."

Pretty self-explanatory if you ask me, although he said it's complicated. Nevertheless it's definitely a theme that everyone may feel different about. It doesn't seem like he believes that he achieved much more than that either, maybe that's the part he means with 'complicated'. The parts about himself sound very frustrated and depressed, so although there is reason for that there still lies the question if that is really the better way. The first and last two lines give it a kind of hopeless touch that sounds to me like "In the end we are all nothing. Our lives are meaningless.". If that's the case asking more from life would be useless as well, but on the other hand it just seems so stupid if all you think about is what to do in the next party. I always have the song 'dancers to a discordant system' by Meshuggah in my mind when I see those lines, the title says it all. It seems wrong in so many ways.

That's the whole thing that's always running through my head while listening to this song. On the one hand blaming the stupidity you see around you everyday, on the other hand you cannot find any deeper meaning in life anyway. You feel like an observer in a world full of meaninglessness and stupidity.

Blackfield – Waving Lyrics 13 years ago
It seems to me like it's about war from the perspective of a civilian. So I see the 'I wave and I turn off the light' part really literally - waving goodbye to your family because it may be the last time you see them and turning off the light to hide somewhere. 'I'm clinging to the warm, bleeding trees' may refer to the wood of their house in the hiding place. Everything else is a description of the enemy soldiers, asking if they really know what they are doing and perceiving that they actually try to overcome their own problems with the attack of others.

Maybe I'm a bit too specific with the war-scenario, I don't know. It could also be about people who give in to their fear of loneliness by putting themselves into the center of attention and not letting other people have fun. Specifically it may be a girlfriend who does not love him. He just started to realize he is being used and finally decides to break up with her because he still does believe that real love is waiting for him somewhere. The warm, bleeding trees may be a reference to the long and sometimes painful waiting you have to go through for that in this case.

Dredg – Whoa Is Me Lyrics 13 years ago
Although Dredg never was my favorite band, this album is by far the best I've ever heard in my life. It's just so...complete, it's unbelievable.

Anyway, my thoughts on this song:

At first glance it's a description of the dream that was described in the link of "lotsofface"'s post. However, it seems to me like the lyrics put some meaning into the whole situation.
The person sees the dream as a world built from negative thoughts within you. Facing that makes you stronger - in the end you'll be able to overcome them while they would always follow you if you don't.
But on the other hand he feels that this thoughts are a part of him, that he needs the loneliness and silence coming from that. So that "When the water comes I will overflow" part seems to be about the fear that he cannot handle so much "life" (positive things, be it love, success or whatever) within him. He needs negativity to have a personal balance.
So in the end it is an endless search for this balance in life. Or to take the words of the lyrics, to get some snow into your dry soul, but not a whole load of water. Although it seems like life only offers one of the extremes, you either long for something that will never come or you get what you want while giving up something of your own.

I might be far off with that, but that's how I see the song.

"Poisoned" of course...

Anyway, imo the best song of the whole album.

Another thing I noticed: It took about five minutes for the people in Jonestown until they died after drinking from the punch. The song is about five minutes long as well. It could be a coincidence since it's a pretty normal length, but maybe the song is meant to be about this last five minutes with a poisened body.

Although I was never in love I can really relate to this interpretation. The lyrics that "CheckMeOut--x" posted fit very well and even make sense.
But in the end it could be about any situations. All I can say is that I always feel a longing for something I can never have when listening to this song. That could fit so much situations. Leaving your home, losing someone, getting your dreams destroyed...and so many more.
Just wonderful.

I can only agree with you and have to add that the song can be changed to many more situations with this kind of feeling. It also could be with a friend after your last school day, almost everything.
Strange to know that feeling before you've even reached it, isn't it? Most people only realize that when it's already too late.

Deftones – Passenger Lyrics 16 years ago
So many different views. Then I'll add mine as well.

I try to keep it short since I can't express the beauty I feel when listening to this song anyway:

It's deep at night and two friends are starting for their last drive. Yes, I said last. They enjoy the ride more than anything before, but their plan is to commit suicide together. When the beauty ends and the last moment arrives they used to give up and turn back, but for this time he doesn't want to do that. When he finally sings "Don't let me go...Take me to the edge" (btw.: Doesn't he sing "end" although the booklet says "edge"? Sounds much better to me) they are finally doing it. The music gets heavier for the last time, where you can almost see the picture in which the car is falling down the cliff. And as the car is landing and both of them are dead the music fades out. Everything is finally over.

I can't explain how beautiful this song is, unbelievable.

Mudvayne – All That You Are Lyrics 16 years ago
I love how much room for interpretations their lyrics have.
I thought about the love theory as well for a long time, but since I never experienced love I tend to search for other interpretations as well. Sometimes it fits, sometimes not (for example: "Goodbye" definitely refers to a person)
To me this song isn't about love at all, it's more an inner conflict. There's the "true I" and the "I for society". On the one hand the "society I" of him says that giving up all emotions is the only way to avoid loneliness, but on the other hand his "true I" can't handle this empty, cold state and feels even more alone when others are around ("I always seem to find myself alone"/"I never seem to find rhythm for life's harmony").

Quite interesting how many lyrics can be turned into something that fits you better. I love Mudvayne for that.

Mudvayne – Trapped In The Wake Of A Dream Lyrics 16 years ago
To me it's about someone who breaks free from the control of others and starts to live the way he wants it.
He used to be too weak to do that but found the strength in his individuality, maybe in his hatred as well. While doing so he recognizes that the people that used to treat him like shit aren't any better in the end, they just gave up.
"Crushing, all unwilling, this is so unstoppable, hard as nails, hook that holds, reach down and find the strength of many in you" - I always have the metaphorical picture of a great hole in this part. Every human being is hanging there on a hook and no one has the will to get out of it and just jump down. They prefer hanging there until the end because they are afraid to be alone.
It may be a painful way but in the end you'll find yourself being stronger than ever before because you fulfilled yourself and let all the fear behind you.
So in the end this is his new, his own dream of which he never wants to wake up. He wants to be completely free and individual and that is what's giving him new strength in life, even though all the others are still insulting him.

Pretty personal and definitely in a complete wrong direction, but that's the way I'll always see it.

@vhiss: Even though those parts say that it seemed almost obvious to me that it's not the message behind it. Until that part you can see that he already tried everything to fit society, but he just doesn't, no matter how hard he tries. So this lines are something that he already had before and which made him try it again and again, but it never succeeded. Also, the line "close your eyes and let the thought pass" is kind of sad, I don't see any strength in it. Closing your eyes means denying the truth, so it's basically a "just be dumb and everything will be ok" message, which will never work for too long.
Another thing is that positive lyrics are rare in Porcupine Tree songs, actually there's not even one coming into my mind. Also Steven Wilson's Myspace site has the line "The sadness of things" right at the start. It seems to me like those kind of lyrics just don't fit to the way they make their music, the beauty lies within sadness. As far as I remember he even mentioned in an interview that he's living out his "dark side" with his music in order to be happy in life.

I can only agree with kiiabby, that's the best view on the song I've seen so far.

So wonderful, so depressing, so desperate...
I know this song has to be very personal, but I always think about "The Catcher In the Rye" when I listen to it. The book fits the mood of the song perfectly. Searching for something new, something better, but ending up in nothing but the wish to turn back home where you've "wasted" all the years. It may be far away from being what you are looking for in life, but it's the lesser evil.
In the end life is just a circle of dreaming. No matter if you're moving forward or stucking in the past, there's always the longing for something you can't even describe. Something without a particular picture. There are moments in which this kind of dreaming can be beautiful as well ("But I'll enjoy the ride today") but it's just not enough because there's no sense in life.

Hm, I think it's about a mother whose child was taken away because of her mental illness. So she went into an asylum or something and wasn't allowed to keep her baby because the doctors thought she's not able to educate her.
She knows that her baby will have the same problems in the world and wishes so much to give her some strength, but she can't. The circle of depression goes on.
First I thought that she's killing her baby to "save her" from the cruel world because the first verse sounds pretty much like a murder scene, but after a while I thought that the "soft" version above might be more correct ("I want you to know I'd die for that moment" - this sounds more like she would like to come over to her).

After watching the video there was another thing I noticed. Correct me if I'm wrong:
The girl in the video isn't cuttung her boyfriend out of the pictures, she is cutting out herself. This makes the interpretation even more interesting:
She is not talking about her boyfriend, she is talking about herself. About her "old I". She wants to become another person, leave everything behind that she was before. Maybe with suicide. I could also imagine that she is moving to another city, leaving everything behind that could remind her of the past. Though I personally prefer the suicide theory.

Yeah, that should be correct. It's about an inner conflict of who you really want to be. There's a side inside him that somehow sticks in the past and has a very pessimistic perspective in life - the "depressive I" if you want so. And even though he wants to go on and forget about the past, this side of him comes out again and again. Somehow he doesn't want to lose this part of him, even if it has only negative effects. In the words of the text: It "suits him fine" and he "wants to taste himself".

I love the "Oh suck me in" part. So powerful and yet so desperate, simply awesome :).

Damn, you can call me "Master of double posts"...

Instead of love, I can also imagine that it's about growing up. "A thousand years" as a picture for the jump you make inside your mind. The question "you ready?" has something more final then. But it "takes you" anyway as the life goes on until you can't resist anymore. I won't go into a detailed description like Solarius did, that's way too hard for me in english, so just read his text again and think about it with this theme ;).

Oh, I forgot to add something, sorry: Another thought I have: Maybe it's not about a "not returned love", but about a couple that used to love each other but fails to live together. I hope you know what I mean? You love this person so much that you cannot imagine to be together with any other one again, but the relationship just doesn't work. So the solution of the protagonist is to kill her, so they can finally be together. I guess it's not that important which one of the two may be more correctly, but I wanted to write it down as well.

Porcupine Tree – Lips of Ashes Lyrics 16 years ago
I thought my stomach would explode when I first heard the intro of this song. It sounds sooo wonderful.

Anyway, without repeating what is already said I want to add a personal thought about it: It's in general a kind of love song. The protagonist of the song fell in love with a woman, but he knew that he would never be able to be together with her ("You and I - Connection failing"). So he murdered her and kept her corpse at home, that's where the song starts. He looks at her dead body and starts to touch it. He can even get into the wounds with his hands, which is way closer then he would be able to a living body ("I drill down inside"). In other words: He can finally do what he would have never been able to when she was alive.
It's very sick on the on hand, but on the other hand a very beautiful and intensive description of love which also shows the desperation you have when this love isn't returned. How far you would like to go just to fulfill this dream.
Lyrically and musically one of the best songs I've ever heard.

Chiasm – Isolated Lyrics 16 years ago
Surprise, surprise: I found this song in "Vampires" as well. Concerning the game the meaning is of course a description of the life as a vampire. A "monster" that has to pretend to be human and is forced to live alone, so the humans never note who they really are (Quotation marks because in the song the humans are described as the monsters).
However, the real meaning behind this song is on a psychological base. It's about a person that doesn't fit the society and has to live alone all the time because of it. He/she uses a mask in the situations that are needed (Within the job, I guess there's not much more) to live a life, but in the rest he/she spends the time alone at home. In addition he/she doesn't want to face any problems again because the hope of any improvements in life is simply gone. Or to say it in the words of the song: There's nothing left for him/her, so there is no need to crawl and fall again in life until the death comes and gives the final freedom.

No comment on this song? My heart could always explode when I listen to it. So unbelievable beautiful and "out of this world", wow. And the song is included in one of the best, if not the best episode of "Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex" (2nd gig, episode 2). The song plays when the pilot is flying with the major over the city at night.
The meaning: It fits the schizophrenia perfectly in my opinion. There a several thoughts in it.
First it's about feeling watched by everyone. The "cyber ocean" is full of data about him. Even his thoughts aren't safe from the new technology.
The second thing is that he somehow lost "something". He's not the same person he was before. I wouldn't say because of his schizophrenia, because I think that the schizophrenia is actually the result of it. ("Nothing stays the same...someday..."/"Haven't been the same lately")
And the third aspect is the new person that's born inside of him. He hopes that this person will make the life better ("I hope you will make more lasting connections"), but is somehow shocked by the fact that this person seems to have no emotions. So it's somehow the "social person" inside of him that ignores his emotional side, but makes him able to live in this world.
Hard to explain for me in english. I hope it's understandable :).
One of the best songs I've ever heard. And Yoko Kanno has such a wonderful voice for this kind of songs (At least I read that Gabriela Robin was singing this song, which is actually her. I'm sure! ;))

Hm, I always think that this is a kind of critique against some "fans" of their music. It sounds to me like he's singing about how he was tortured in the past and that this kind of people now listen to his music. Even if it's not exactly the same persons, but the same type.

Rammstein – Klavier Lyrics 17 years ago
I'm really not a Rammstein fan, but this song is amazing.

I think most of it is already said, but I personally have a very...creepy imagination of this song:
I guess he locked the girl up in this room with the piano, and at the moment of the song, she is only a grey, dusty skeleton, still sitting at that piano. I mean, the paino is dusty, too, and he sings that she is still sitting there.
And then there is this moment where her parents come to that place (maybe they stopped the contact anyway, that's why it took so long) and they just see this creepy skeleton and start to scream/beat him up. And of course nobody can understand him.
A very extreme and emotional love song. It's about the fear of losing someone. I mean, all he actually wanted was that she plays the piano for him forever. That he never loses her. And then he found out that she cheated on him (she definitely did, no doubt. To stay in english: He sings that she SEEMED to play for him alone, but this tells us that she actually doesn't do that. Also he describes the fire as the "fire of his rage".), killed her and placed her at the piano to make her do that forever.
I love this "sick" songs that actually have some kind of beauty.

Daft Punk – Digital Love Lyrics 17 years ago
Just something I wanted to add:

I think it's not just a love song, it's a song about "online love". That's why it's called "digital love" and why the last line says "Why don't you play the game?". So he fell in love with a girl he just knows from online-gaming (and it seems like there will never be more, maybe she already has someone or is too old or whatever), waiting for her to log in again, so he can spend some more time with her.

Yes, it doesn\'t appear in the song. Anyway, this line is on the official website. So I guess it was once planned to be in the song like the \"Try not to stare\"-line, but left out during the recording sessions, though it still is too important to be left out in the lyrics.
