Jason Mraz – Rainbow Connection Lyrics 17 years ago
I found the clip on YouTube and after the clip finished I melted into a metaphorical puddle of goo while literally going, "Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww."

I couldn't be bothered if he was gay, straight, a tranny or a hermaphrodite. This man has more talent in his little pinky than a lot of other waste of spaces in the recording industry. I definitely second what musictravelfun said.

You Am I – Purple Sneakers Lyrics 17 years ago
Love, love, love, this song. As a whole I'm not sure what it means but this bit:

"So we took a personality pill
And something red to swill
And now every fire has gone out
In every heart that wanted to kill"

I take it means death through a drug +alcohol overdose?

Stereophonics – A Thousand Trees Lyrics 17 years ago
Just curious but from an amatuerish point of view it seems that the Stereophonics older stuff seems to be more personal than their new songs. Like Local Boy in the Photograph or Billy Davey's Daughter seem to be about something that happened in Kelly Jones' history in Wales whereas Dakota is less personal. What do y'all think? Note that I'm not stating one or the other is better. Just curious about what people think.

Cary Brothers – Waiting for your letter Lyrics 18 years ago
You said it thewordof rashi. That episode itself was beyond awesome. Zach Braff directed the episode and I have to say that the shots he used, and the song choice just added to the genius of it all! Especially if you contradict that with the more subdued Closer by Joshua Radin later in the ep. Gosh. Brilliant.

Cary Brothers – Something Lyrics 18 years ago
Good breakup song. It has a killer ending. Everything builds up at the end perfectly. What I'm getting from it, a relationship breaking down. In the most horrible, heart-wrenching way: they start drifting away.

There are just too many great metaphors or literal excerpts in the song. This song freaking blows my mind.

Ryan Adams – Wonderwall (Oasis cover) Lyrics 19 years ago
Why is there a constant need for a cover to be better than the original or vice versa? I mean seriously, can't everything be good? I've heard the album version and the acoustic version from Oasis and this version by Ryan Adams and personally, I think all of them are equally superb. It's a great song to begin with, can't fault it. And I think that you really need to be in the right mood to fully appreciate each different version.

I think Nandecatur's post about the meaning of wonderwall is quite spot on. And I actually find that this song was quite romantic. I saw it as a a guy and girl who were in a relationship that often wasn't very easy-flowing (roads...winding). Like the girl had a lot of people who were telling her to dump the guy but she didn't (Today was gonna be the day but they'll never throw it back to you). The day that she was suppose to break up with him was regarded as her day of salvation but because she acted otherwise, her friends/relatives/family chose to give up on her, thus never 'throwing back' that hope of being accepted again.

Of course, love (or whatever it was... faithfulness, loyalty?) prevailed in the end and you have the guy esctatic about her decision; hence the declaration of affection towards her at a particular moment (I don't believe that anybody...). That's my take. What do you guys think? Am I on the ball or so far off that the ball is a speck in my line of vision? Lol.

Coldplay – What If Lyrics 19 years ago
I was driving alone in my car and listening to X&Y for the second time when I heard the song. And that time round something really clicked. Nobody really needs to know this (neither should anyone care too) but I need a place to vent about what this song means to me right now so I'll just go.

I had recently broken up with my long term boyfriend. My reasons: I had fallen out of love with him. And that sucked cause we both knew we were a pretty good match for each other. And we both thought that we were going to make it through all the way. But I suppose everyone does at some point. The guy is a total angel, though. His friends were dissing me yet he stood up for me. Anyways, I was already feeling like the biggest bitch there ever was. To top it all off, I broke up with him 2 days before his birthday. Hence the massive, massive, massive guilt. Then when I heard the song, I just listened.

I think that in other moods I would categorize the song under 'sad, touching break-up, lost love songs'. But when I listened to it then, I felt different. There seemed to be this brief moment of clarity where I realized these things happen and I shouldn't keep self-inflicting myself with so much guilt and that things were going to be okay for him eventually. Yeah well... it was a brief moment, albeit a necessary one. Too much guilt isn't good for one's mood and outlook.

The Postal Service – Against All Odds (Phil Collins cover) Lyrics 19 years ago
Don't slay me, you wacky hardcore Postal Service fans, but when I first heard the cover I wasn't particularly impressed. I mean, I had just come off listening to 'Nothing Better' and in my opinion, that song was far more superior. But I gave it another shot. What the heck, eh? It's TPS man! Listened to it again and it's growing on me now. Still not as good as other tracks on the album though.
