Genesis – Turn It On Again Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This, I think, is about someone who's got a deal with someone on tv or radio and wants to meet them. Plus this person would also want to impress the tv/radio figure to end up on tv/radio himself |
Genesis – Home By The Sea Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Lol poor bastard goes in the house to rob it and gets ambushed by angry or desperate ghosts who just want to share their boring story for a really long time. As Phil says before singing this one "A journey into another world" Oh and the ghosts won't let the poor bastard leave, too. |
Genesis – Guide Vocal Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Hmmm if you (parberoo) are right, then I'm way off on the Duke album; For some reason I've always felt "Behind the Lines", "Guide Vocal", "Duke's Travels" and "Duke's End" are completly connected together. Plus, from your view, the following part "For nobody would understand, And you kill what you fear." doesnt fit anywhere. I think it's more the "fairytale character" from "Behind the Lines" (see my post there... ive got an extremly vague understanding of that song's meaning) that has entered the "reader's" life for real (again, like i said for "Behind the Lines", "neverending story" style) and must leave in fear of other people seeing it/him/her because it/he/she is very different and people tend to be afraid of very different beings. Often we kill one another over physical differences... in fear of that difference. |
Genesis – Behind The Lines Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Now this one is a puzzle to me; if anyone can help, please do. From what I understand, it could be a kid reading some fairytale, wanting to join in the actual story (kinda like neverending story style) but the rest just wards me off from that idea... Ill keep searching for info on this one |
Genesis – Who Dunnit? Lyrics | 19 years ago |
LOL here's a fun thought, Could be that these lyrics basically are "looking for who wrote the song" and the actual writer doesnt even want to admit having written it :-P Obviously it aint that; but it just made things funnier for my understanding of this song. |
Genesis – Who Dunnit? Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i honestly think Genesis wanted this to be a humourus one; don't blast it - the first time I heard it I was like "Oh man... what did they smoke?!" Then i died of laughter. I love this one. Call me crazy but it's just hilarious that they even wrote, performed, recorded and produced this.... Just when I saw the title... "Who dunnit" i mean cmon it's funny as hell. |
Phil Collins – In The Air Tonight Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Come to think of it would you lend a hand to the guy who banged your wife? Hmmm this is making more and more sense lol |
Phil Collins – In The Air Tonight Lyrics | 19 years ago |
actually come to think of it, if this is about his bitterness after his marriage, he was BITTER and this song is COLD; especially if his ex wife was the target... "I've seen your face before my friend, but i don't know if you know who I am" ... booyah... harsh. Makes sense. However the drowning story, even though proven very flase by Phil himself, is a cool idea. Time for Phil to write one about a guy drowning and another not helping. |
Phil Collins – Can't Stop Loving You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The video of this song drove me off its meaning, I believe. As I was distracted from the lyrics because of the images and the cool FX of the video I was gathering that this was more a song of global freindship... as barely one single scene has to do with the story of a man and a woman. Oh well. Phil Rules. |
Genesis – Tonight, Tonight, Tonight Lyrics | 19 years ago |
It's defenitely about someone deciding to break an addiction... "Tonight, i'm gonna make it right" However I'm confused on the "Please answer the phone" deal; either "the addict" is calling someone who can help - or he's having too much withdrawal and suddenly experiences a relapse... or a desire to relapse... "I got some money in my pocket, about ready to burn I don't remember where I got it, I gotta get it to you"... hmmmm... assumed translation "I think i have enough to buy another bag..." |
