| well you have to realize that war is in fact essentially a sport, a competition, even when sometimes people don't realize it. What separates war from regular competitions like football and business is that it has no rules, it's how much you are willing to live outside the rules. I don't think this song is any more pro war than it's anti war and vice versa, it's just about war and its nature, the way i see it, war is the ultimate test of the human will and this song portrays that mentality. | |

| interesting observation akakuro, in that case, it sounds more or less of an anti-war song. i have to point out that die traanen greiser.. part, sounds more like geiser, like relating to the tears like geysers of water. but either way i think it paints a picture of old people (the weisses haar) before their deaths. i think in ihren lungen wohnt ein aal, auf meine stirne muttermal further supports your theory, the muttermal on the guy's forehead is like a wound from battle. it reminds me of in black hawk down, the delta guy "Hoot" made a remark before the battle "once the first bullet go past ur head, politics and all that shit..goes right out of the window." like alot of RS's songs, ppl interpret it differnetly, since i volunteer at a hospice, i can relate this song directly to a person who died, who was old and had tubes going in her mouth and nose, she had been abused by her mom and her stepdad, her mom never wanted her, and told her not to marry and have kids and hate her like her own mom hated her, so in defiance she married and had kids and loved them very much, she hated her own mother, but also out of her emotional pain she smoked and drank and got lung cancer and died at the hospice. | |

| to me, almost all rammstein songs relates back to the ramstein airshow disaster, many undirectly, except for this song. why do i say this, not to sound like im the only one think this way but it all went back to this time when i did some brief research on the airshow disaster, there was a video, it described everything that happened that day, wat makes it special tho, was that the italian pilots, that day were drawing a heart in the sky, a huge heart, and it involves a lone plane that goes thru it as if "piercing" the heart, wats most ironic about it is that, the announcer from the video or the show, was saying "now they're making a heart in the sky, and it stands for our love for all of you!" then 3 seconds later, the "piercing" plane hit the other planes just as the heart was finished, then everythign burned, people dying..etc. to me it answered so many questions, even why rammstein is so big on pyrotechnics, and why their songs tend to be ambiguous, b/c LOVE IS AMBIGUOUS, when u think about it, we hurt people b/c we love them, love also stands for our innermost desires and feelings of our hearts, as portrayed in mein herz brennt, spielurh, and feuer frei, if u look at links 2 3 4, it all about wat u can do with ur heart... its all about the symbolic heart that was drawn in the air from that airshow... | |

| very beautiful song indeed, the way i see it, its about a person's heart and innermost feelings, and the symbolic death of one's childhood, our childhood dreams, eaten up and "buried" in dishonor as we grow up, but as the song describes, our "child" within us doesnt' really die, it pretends to be "not there", we feel as if we lost our childhood innocence and dreams, but its still there, much like mein herz brennt where the "heart" actually wakes up one day. its certainly portrays the sadness and mixed emotions very well and to the point, like all of their other songs, and of course, like many rammstein songs, there are many other meanings to this song as well...such as those mentioned above, but for me, its about the lost of the innocence of childhood. | |

They're not happy without a war. As for this song, the first time I heard it, I nearly died laughing because it is all true and summed up in typical Rammstein style. A great song. (And people, please. Do NOT judge the German people like this. If your going to judge them, you might as well also judge the Romans, Greeks, Egyptians, Brits...) perhaps its significant that it says "sometimes" war, its not war all the time, but it sounds like its saying america is treating wars like a hobby, like mickey maus, wonderbras, as if war is funny and is just nothing. |

| this is song is a metaphor to desires in human life, the way we perceive it and how it is perceived if we were standing outside of our lives. There's a song called Coma Black, which im still trying to figure out the meaning behind it, but i think both songs gets out the same message: as much we crave to fulfill our desires and dreams and goals, (which summarizes the "point of life"), its simply impossible to truly satisfy ur desires, you always want more. think about the last time u had sex or masturbated, u go through all the effort just to satisfy ur desire of getting an orgasm, but when it really comes, its very short and afterwards its not as satisfying, well think about all the other desires u crave to achieve, maybe getting an A in clase? well wen u do get an A, u realize it doesnt feel as good as u thot and u want more, u want to get A the next time, then the next time ur report card comes, its simply not enough. well then u might argue that the deepest human desire is to be happy, well if u relate the metaphor in this song to fulfulling ur desire to be happy (survive), its like saying our deepest desire is to survive, but while we are, we realize being alive isnt enough, we want more, this is why we have all the other goals and desires, but relate it back u can never be happy, as long as we are in this supposed reality world, and being alive. relating back to the song, life is about counting and waiting and suffering while waiting for this supposed "light" that ull never get, and wen u get it, it can burn u and blind u and give u all the other things u dont expect and dont neccessarily want. | |

| like many here i would not say for certain wat this song means as that is solely up to manson himself to explain it, but after reading some of his interviews i come to a near conclusion of wat this song is about: this is about the end of the world from manson's prediction based on logic of human nature and wat we use to reproduce and survive throughout mankind history will be the very thing that destroys us: sex. and using some elements from the Bible to make it sound interesting e.g. "sex-tank armor plate" as the revelation tells us there are goign to be war and clashes between nations. and also "the day that love opened our eyes and we watched the world end," finally when we realized wat we truly love and want as humans its we realize that indeed this world is doomed to destroy itself, but not as the bible's famous "grand happening" type of armageddon, but rather and obvious end that anyone can come to realize just takes time to think about it. in addition to this song about the end of the world i also find this song IS about sexual freedom as well, b/c in the video it showed a girl's head in a cage that very short scene, i agree with that manson's song is "deep" but its not about glamourizing "sex" and obscene stuff its rather simply stating a problem of society right now that can be considered as one of its many "sad truths", that as history shows, when soceity restricted sex (or any other nature-intented things) ie, it often leads to violence and rape, etc. so this song summarizes it as "its better to be Obscene than having MObscenes spreading in ur country." as a person i forget name once said if u try to stop a river with a dam chances are its going to eventually build up and break the dam if the water is not allowed to flow out. same thing applies to humans, if u try stop them been horny and who they are like dont allowe them to watch porns, eventually they wont listen to you and "break" through and everything would be chaos and they'll have sex anyways b/c u simply cant control nature, but back to the topic on the end of the world, this very thing will lead to the end either way, either we restrict sex and we rebel and destroy eachother, or we have sex so much that we die from all kinds of problems from overpopulation. | |
