This one of the first songs that I heard by Dylan I have loved it ever since. I don't know if it is something in his voice when he recorded it but it sounds amazing. This song definitely set the country up for what was in store for it with the civil right's movement and then the Vietnam war so this song is brilliant and the harmonica is terrific. It's all about the harmonica. |

This song is about heroin addiction. Because all of the members at the time were hooked on heroin. Just listen to the lyrics. "Prisoners of your own device; Can't kill the beast; You can never leave" And then there is the perfect hotel metaphor. I'll just take it but I won't get hooked on it. Just once. I'll stay the night but not any longer. Just the night and then you start to have more and more fun until you realize that it's not all that it appeared to be. |

Like they say in Pulp Fiction: "You like the Beatles or you like Elvis." Well you could break that down more to, you like McCartney or you like Lennon. I think that John did alot of good for the world in the fact that he was always campainging for peace and he made some really awesome music but anytime I listen to this song I can't help but realize how Paul was such a genius. This song in such few lyrics really got the point across with such a beautiful melody. The Beatles like many from their era (Dylan, Hendrix, the Stones, etc.) have influenced most of the artisits since then in one way or another. And this song is the most recorded song in the world so that should definitely tell you something. |

Jakob thought that it was about him and Bob said that it was about one of his sons (Jesse, Samuel, or Jakob). I think that it is beautiful and certainly must be every parents wish for their child. I think that Bob was a very good parent while they were still in Woodstock but then around the time they left he was paranoid about all his fans and so he started to become more of a womanizer once he left and ultimately let to divorce and then he went on the never ending tour. |

This song is like one of Bob's (I'm sorry to keep comparing Jake and Bob but how can you not?) It's poetry just set to music. And that's how most great songs are. And I can't believe that no one else has commented on this song yet. I would recommend this song to anyone who is just starting to listen to the Wallflowers. But I really don't know what this song is about. What I get out of it is that he's with this girl and things are great, then things get worse and worse until she finally left "As she cut all the strings, That I'd tied to her wings" |

This is the most perfect song to listen to when you've had one of those days. It definitely sums up feelings of self-loathing and a strained parent-child relationship. Jakob Dylan is definitely up there with his dad and Kurt Cobain as one of the greatest songwriters. |

I think that the piano part is also the most romantic parts of the whole song. The two guitars (Duane Allman and Eric Clapton) almost seem to be talking to each other. Diamond is a genius. And he said that he went to these revivial shows and he said that he thought that they were so fake and that's how he originally wrote the song but then he thought about it and he realized that the other people there liked it and so he changed it. This is one of the songs that really got me turned on to Bob Dylan. I really think that this is one of his underapreciated songs. "Masters of War" is as true as it was in 1961 as it is now. Old men start the wars and the young men have to fight them and this song perfectly tells it like it is. |

This song really does represent the best of Bob Dylan he has is terrific when it comes to describing images and places to use and this song also shows a character's journey which does happen frequently in Dylan songs. So while this is not one of his masterpieces this is definitely one to check out. And definitely check out "Mr. Tambourine Man" becuase this is similar to it in a way. |

This song is awesome but I have to admit that when he first got to New York City he himself used people to get ahead himself. I myself am a huge Dylan fan but then again the truth is that Dylan did have to do what he did to have a place to sleep and some food to eat, not just to make him famous so I guess there is a little bit of difference. |

This song was written in the mid sixties (say 1968) when Dylan was still in seclusion in Woodstock (this was on the JOHN WESLEY HARDING album) and at the time he said that he was reading the Bible every morning so this does have quite a bit of Bible references. I know that Dylan was never really politcal but then again this was the height of the Vietnam war, so the first time I heard this song I thought of Vietnam ( "there must be some way outta here"; "there's to much confusion"; "....the wind began to howl") So that was the way that I took it. |

This song just shows Dylan as a genius. He showed tons of it with his earlier songs(Blowin' in the Wind, A Hard Rains Gonna Fall, Masters of War, Dont Think Twice...) but this certainly did cement it. |
