I was planning on writing some awesomely alternative meaning to this song but you people totally upstaged me. especially "kicked her in the face" guy. "Chiller" got it right too. I carry a sharpie around with me cus when I meet a girl named Allison I'm gonna write "when the planet hit the sun, I saw the face of Allison." on her arm. Or breast, whichever I have access to. Ack, after reading the meanings posted about him and courtney, I'm in danger of thinking of that each time I hear it. Which actually is quite often cus its my ringtone. I am sometimes curious about what the writer's inspiration was, but always enjoy the song a little less after finding out. The cool thing about billy's lyrics is they are so poetic, you can really take them anywhere you want to go. Surprise!, This reminds me of a breakup. Most of the Pumpkins stuff does. But some of the lyrics that hit me the hardest are:

okay, to ME, this song is about a couple that was casually dating but were very fond of eachother and the girl got knocked up. It's the part where he says that our flesh and blood ties. They're uncertain about what to do, but the dude's like, F*** it, lets have a baby. Yes, probably not the actual meaning but it works for me. What, you wanna make somethin of it? C'mere and I will Fight you right now! Nah, just kiddin. I love the part about quenching his heart and mind. There are a few girlies out there that have uncommon wisdom and you know you just wanna claim 'em, and have a dozen love children. |

I think the gold teeth symbolize rebellious ways and autonomy, and the curse for the town means his statements about not liking anything about the place or the people in it. Then he got clobbered by this girl and now neither of them are in his mouth.

yeah, this guy was careless and happy and he met this broad who's absence is killing him. Now he wants his old self back. So, he wakes up and realizes how f-ing miserable he is and how different. He's changed and the "stripes" are the evidence of life's flogging. Maybe it'll stop hurting one day. If he can't be happy though, he wishes the worst for the everyone around him. All the cogs of this world churning in perfect order while he can't. He hates that he saw the good life and wants to set the world on fire cus he doesn't know how he is ever going to get his head straight. |
