Avenged Sevenfold – This Means War Lyrics | 10 years ago |
Sounds very similar to "Sad but True" by Metallica. Close to plagiarism. |
Avenged Sevenfold – Hail to the King Lyrics | 10 years ago |
Reminds me of Hail Caesar by AC/DC |
Shania Twain – Rock This Country Lyrics | 10 years ago |
The chorus is a statement of Shania's musical style. "We're gonna rock" is followed by a distorted rock guitar riff. "This country" is followed by a fiddle riff. It reflects the musical influences she grew up with, as well as her collaboration with rock producer and then-husband Mutt Lange. |
Shania Twain – I Ain't Goin' Down Lyrics | 10 years ago |
This is not about Shania's mom, Sharon. First of all, Sharon had her first child, Jill, at age 18, not age 15 like the lyrics say. Secondly, Jill's biological father didn't abandon them like the lyrics imply; he was killed in a car crash. This song is likely about Jill. Jill left home at age 14, then gave birth to Mandy, Shania's niece, at age 15 or 16. Neither Shania nor anyone in her family will talk publicly about why Jill left home so early. Maybe the answers are right here in this song. |
Brooks and Dunn – Neon Moon Lyrics | 10 years ago |
It's not referring to the real moon, it's referring to a neon moon, which just further paints the picture of how desolate he is at that moment, that his only comfort is from something so artificial and sad. He has nothing. All he has is some neon sign in a bar to give him solace. It just makes the song all the more painful. I agree with everything else you said. I don't like many country songs, but I just heard this one today, and it brought me to my knees in tears. Needless to say I feel this shit right along with you man. |
Shania Twain – Nah! Lyrics | 10 years ago |
"(It was sure!) It was sweet" is wrong. It should be: "(It was short!) It was sweet" |
Shania Twain – Black Eyes, Blue Tears Lyrics | 10 years ago |
Shania's mother was physically abused by both Shania's biological father as well as her step father. This song obviously stems from her mother's ordeals. |
Shania Twain – Is There Life After Love? Lyrics | 10 years ago |
This song is about a girl that cheated on the love of her life, and is regretting it and lamenting it. |
Shania Twain – No One Needs To Know Lyrics | 10 years ago |
At the time Shania wrote this song she was dealing with crushing sorrow, hardship, and tragedy in her life. She wrote this song, which imagines a happy, cheerful, hopeful time, as an escape from the misery.. |
Alison Krauss – Baby, Now That I've Found You Lyrics | 10 years ago |
So this is basically a begging song. |
Neil Diamond – The Story Of My Life Lyrics | 12 years ago |
beautiful, heart-wrenching song |
Hoobastank – You're the One Lyrics | 12 years ago |
This song should have way more comments. |
Metallica – The Outlaw Torn Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Agreed. "Outlaw of Torn" just makes zero sense. |
Billy Joel – My Life Lyrics | 12 years ago |
This song is a ripoff from "The Walkers - Sha La La La La". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5kBF8cByIY |
Big Tymers – Still Fly Lyrics | 12 years ago |
The lines that say "Aint got no job, but i stay sharp" and "Aint got no job, but i stay shy" are wrong. The word is "shive." It's New Orleans slang. See here: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=shive |
Toto – I'll Be Over You Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Why do people keep saying "even though it's from the 80's" as if that's a bad thing? Some of the best music is from the 80's! No need to apologize for enjoying 80's music. |
HURTS – Illuminated Lyrics | 13 years ago |
This song is about getting high. |
Christina Aguilera – Candyman Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Agree with everything you say, except I like the song. It's catchy. But what you say about the lyrics is spot on. I'm no prude, I have no problem with sexual content, but some of the lyrics are so tacky, crude, and frankly TMI. |
Def Leppard – Foolin' Lyrics | 13 years ago |
this song needs more cowbell |
Lady GaGa – Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say) Lyrics | 13 years ago |
such a cold blooded song LOL |
Lucie Silvas – Nothing Else Matters Lyrics | 14 years ago |
The only nitpick I have with this song is this lyric change: Metallica: "All these words I don't just say." Lucie Silvas: "All these words I just don't say." Switching the words "don't" and "just" completely changes the meaning of the sentence. Other than that, it's a nice cover of a legendary song. |
Mandalay – Like Her Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Numbnat1- That would be true if the singer was a male. Since the singer is female, we're all confused. Now that you mentiion it, one possibility is that the song was originally written by a guy, from a guy's point of view, then mandalay got a hold of it and had the female singer sing it without changing the lyrics. just a thought. i have no idea. |
Mandalay – Like Her Lyrics | 17 years ago |
resuri- i was listening to this song again the other day (it's a good song), and trying to figure out what it meant, and that's exactly what i came up with. the only way it makes sense is if the narrator is facing the end of a lesbian relationship, just like you said. |
Mandalay – Like Her Lyrics | 17 years ago |
lizzybelle's is the best explanation so far, but i just heard the song again recently, and something still bothers me. if what lizzybelle says is true, why would she say "you look a lot like her"? if the speaker instead said "she looks a lot like you," wouldn't that make more sense? you would think she would compare someone new/unfamiliar (the daughter, "she") to the one she's familiar with, the person she's addressing in the song (the cheating guy, "you"), not the other way around. i don't get it. i love this song, very wrenching, great beat, haunting vocals, but i can't quite figure out the exact meaning. i think lizzybelle's is the best so far, but there has to be something more to better explain it and bring it all together. |
Genesis – In Too Deep Lyrics | 18 years ago |
dammit i hate that this and that rascal flatts song what hurts the most are open to interpretation. very frustrating. probably typical of pop songs that they write them with ambiguous meanings that "sound" good, but since you can't tell what they're really saying, they're saying nothing. the song has to be either about a cheating girl, or going through personal problems with a faithful girl. it cant be both. i bet when they write the song they laugh thier asses off, knowing it will screw with people that their songs can have contradictory meanings, yet they know they'll sell because they "sound" pleasing to the ear if you don't pay close attention to the intended meaning behind the lyrics, or lack thereof. |
Sting – Fields of Gold Lyrics | 18 years ago |
lots of nice interpretations all around. i agree the song is about love, treasured memories, treasured times, and the loss or impending loss of those times, or death (sun goes down). most of all, though, i will always associate this song with michelle kwan, since this is the song she preselected for her encore freeskate, except she didn't know beforehand that she would fail to capture the figure skating gold medal. she played the song anyway in her encore skate anyway in a moment that was heart wrenching, very emotional and tear jerking, except for reasons entirely different than she planned for. |
Fleetwood Mac – Dreams Lyrics | 18 years ago |
everytime i hear the line "when the rain washes you clean you'll know," i wonder whether she's making some sort of thinly veiled reference to the "money shot" know what i mean? you know, after he gives her the "money shot," then she'll "know," meaning that after he's had his way with her, she'll see that he really doesn't give a flip about her and just wanted the poon. |
Genesis – In Too Deep Lyrics | 18 years ago |
so...he's breaking up with the woman he loves because she cheated on him. right? |
Rascal Flatts – What Hurts The Most Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Sarah90, sorry to hear that. It;s been a year since I lost my gf of 8 years. Not that she died, things didn't work out. Anyway I heard this song and thougt it was about a breakup. Then I saw the video and thought WTF this video has nothingto do with the song. Then I went back and re-read the lyrics, and sure enough the video does fit. So I think whoever wrote this song made sure to not be too specific so as to appeal to as wide an audience as possible. They're in the business of selling music, afterall. I think it's a great song by the way, but that's obvious since why else would I be on this site typing about it? |
Mandalay – Like Her Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i also caught this song on CSI. but i don't completely get the meaning. "you look a lot like her." Who looks a lot like who? The guy she's breaking up with looks like some other girl????? |
