Jimmy Eat World – Closer Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I totally agree with Way2Slo, the guy is trying to be the best man he can be for his girl. "Everyday I get a little closer dear Will you love me darling when I get there" Also, I think this track is contender for best song on the new EP as well, the guitar bit towards the end is just awesome and so atmospheric. The new EP is just so damn good. |
Tom McRae – Street Light Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Tom said about this: "This is a song for a city, and its the closest thing I've ever written to a love song, but it still features the word 'kill' in it". Haha, funny guy. This is a great bside track, and shows Tom always writes timeless classics even if they don't make the final cut of the album. |
Tom McRae – Walking 2 Hawaii Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Just seen Tom live in Belfast on Monday night and he was awesome. This song sounds so beautiful in its acousticness, yet ironically not so beautiful in the thinking of how you could sit and watch the world go down in flames. Great song. |
Death Cab for Cutie – What Sarah Said Lyrics | 19 years ago |
As far as I can remember reading somewhere, this song is based on Ben's friend (in real life) Sarah. She was walking along with her partner one day when she suddenly burst into tears for apparently no reason. Her parent asked her what was up, and she said she'd just realised that some day, one of them is going to have to watch the other one die, hence how Sarah said "love is watching someone die". This is a powerfully emotional track, and very sad for anyone who's ever been in the situation of waiting for bad news at the hospital. Even if you haven't, its still easy to imagine how painful an experience it must be, and this track really sums it up perfectly. And to 'whyitsjustme', the word emo(tional) was a word in the English language before music took it over and ripped the meaning out of it! 'Emo' in short means emotional, so that means anything with feeling or soul. Doesn't have to be your typical 'emo'-classed band shit that you're thinking of... |
Feeder – Comfort in Sound Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Jon Lee committed suicide by hanging himself in his house in Miami if I'm correct. A tragedy to say the least :( RIP I don't this track is specifically about him though, I reckon its just an 'ode to music' as such, and the comfort you can draw from it through any hardships in life. Music is always there for you, and I have to say I agree totally with this track as music is definately always there for me when I need it! |
Feeder – 20th Century Trip Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Nope, thats it. Its a short outro on the Polythene album. |
Feeder – Child In You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Another thing I want to say that I love about this song is the contrasting moods of the chords with the lyrics. The verse, which has the lyrics of despair and loss, is distinctly dark and moody, whereas the chorus has a more uplifting feel, echoed both through the words and the music. FEEDER rock!! :D |
Feeder – Child In You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I've always thought this song was about Jon (its on the Comfort in Sound album which was the first album Feeder released after Jon's death), though this has been denied by Grant (not directly). Anyway, I think this song is about recovery. You think you can't get over something, it gets you in your sleep and your dreams, it breaks your life, and the only way to get over it is close your eyes, look inside yourself and bring back the happiness of the child within you. This is my personal feeling on this one :) |
Feeder – Descend Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is an amazing track from the Polythene album, classic Feeder from back in the day! I think think the song is about the evil ways that other people can think and act, and how screwed up the world is. I also find that in the chorus Grant is talking about how he has to keep things inside him and pretend to the outside world that everything is ok... "If I could be all by myself I could be me... If you could see, live with my pain, the thoughts that I keep". I'm not entirely sure of this one, but thats what I get from it anyway. |
Feeder – Bitter Glass Lyrics | 19 years ago |
"The thought of never knowing Would kill me just the same A solitary blossom Reminders of a friend" As the above comment says, this song is about Jon, and Grant even clarified this in an interview. 'The thought of never knowing' refers to never knowing what would've happened had he picked up that phone call - maybe Jon would be with us today? This is a beautiful track indeed, and I think it's the most 'from the heart' track on the album. |
The Reindeer Section – Cold Water Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think this track is about someone who committed suicide, and left without saying goodbye, or saying that they were hurting. Quite sad, but I think theres some anger in there too, like the lines "I could cry like you should of years ago, So I'll see you when i'm ready to go." Thats my reckoning anyway :-) |
