The Pretenders – Brass In Pocket Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I would like to propose that this song is about shooting someone. Though there are references to making someone notice using style and sidestep, if you read the song’s lyrics and think of the brass in her pocket being bullets, perhaps she is going to not make this person notice on a level of romance (though it seems she has tried before), maybe she is so frustrated about not being able to make this person notice using her looks that she is going to shoot this person. It may seem that this song is simple and about girl meets guy, but I get the impression that this song is about something a little bit deeper than love, perhaps hate. Maybe she once wanted to go out with this guy but he didn’t want to and now she is so mad she wants to kill him. I think the lines “Got new skank it’s so reet, got something I’m winking at you” have double meanings that may seem like dancing, but are not. Maybe the new skank is a metaphor for having a plan to kill someone and the “something” that she has when she is winking at the guy is a gun. Just a thought. |

this song has undertones of racism, and im not to familiar with this band (though i do own a few LPs) but is the reference to W.A.S.P. (White Anglo-Saxon Protestants) meant to be sarcastic or for real? Other than that good song |

Throbbing Gristle – Hamburger Lady Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I read once that his song was about a woman who was in a fire and she got so badly burned that her skin was deformed and melted and she was immobile and spent the rest of her life in a hospital frightening people with her gastly appearence. |

Blondie – Fade Away and Radiate Lyrics | 19 years ago |
they werent on drugs the song is about falling asleep in front of the tv. take the lines "Ooh baby I hear you spend night time: Wrapped like candy in a blue blue neon glow" this talks about someone falling asleep in front of something that is glowing, in this case a tv. Other lines include "Silver pictures move so slow Golden tubes faintly glow Electric faces seem to merge Hidden voices mock your words" this obviously talks about a tv paticularly a black and white tv that seems to be slowing down and/or mocking someone as they fall asleep. Finally "The beams become my dream My dream is on the screen Fade away and radiate" this means whoever fell asleep in front of the tv is dreaming about the characters on the screen and the song title fade away and radiate simply suggests falling asleep in front of an old tv that gives off radiation. i love this song but think its stupid that anyone would think punk rock is about drugs or that all punk bands are on drugs. dont ever categorize something that is against categorizing things. |
