No Doubt – Ex-Girlfriend Lyrics | 14 years ago |
''Your wildness scares me So does your freedom'' LOVE THOSE LYRICS! This has always been one of my favourites of no doubts. I love the video, Gwen looks kick ass. Those lyrics are just so true to my situation right now |
John Lennon – Jealous Guy Lyrics | 14 years ago |
RIP John. My first love! Since i was five...and knew all the words to the HELP! album from listening to it in my dad's car...still a huge beatles fan, but much prefer john's writing over pauls'. This, along with ''Woman is the N1gger of the world'' are my fav's. |
Natalie Merchant – My Skin Lyrics | 14 years ago |
with you*** |
Natalie Merchant – My Skin Lyrics | 14 years ago |
They say that promises sweeten the blow But I don't need them, no I don't need them i love the way natalie sings so confessional, but it sounds like she's singing on behalf of someone else at the same time. i think this song is about someone falling out of love with . |
Billie Holiday – I'm Gonna Lock My Heart (And Throw Away the Key) Lyrics | 14 years ago |
who doesn't feel like this after a break up? |
Billie Holiday – God Bless the Child Lyrics | 14 years ago |
them thats got shall get them thats not, shall lose god i love old skool swing. so true. |
Stevie Nicks – Planets of the Universe Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I love this song, i recently bought the album and ive been playing this song, and ''everyday'' non stop. i love the honesty and warmth in stevies voice, she seems really wise but introverted ''now i know i was wrong, to live for a dream if i had my life, to live over i would never dream''. that means a lot to me, i think living in a world where people get caught up in wanting to be rich or famous or both they loose sight of the things that they can miss out on, things that actually matter. |
Natalie Merchant – River Lyrics | 16 years ago |
with candles with flowers he was one of ours Rivers death upsets me all these years on. He is still alive and well in my mind. RIP river. |
Simon and Garfunkel – I Am A Rock Lyrics | 17 years ago |
nobody said i was arguing, and I dont know what you're getting haughty about, since my comment has nothing to do with you either. :) |
Simon and Garfunkel – I Am A Rock Lyrics | 17 years ago |
some people on this website never fail to amaze me. as far as I know, this is a site dedicated to giving ur personal opinion on a song and it's meaning. songs mean different things to different people. i would never argue with someone on here that their interpretation of a song was wrong, just because it was different to my own. ART is subject to opinion! |
Elvis Costello – I Want You Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this is my favourite elvis costello song by far! im a huge fiona apple fan, so obviously i loved her cover version, but just the song itself is awsome. I think the way it's written.. and how the words really out-shine the music.. gets the point across so strongly, you hear it and its like this guy is right infront of you just spouting out all this heart-break, the structure of it, everything! its great, but yeah..no love song.. i'd say it's more a psycho-stalker song. |
Elliott Smith – I Didn't Understand Lyrics | 17 years ago |
yeah i think it's about being too unhappy to enjoy loving someone... depression is a mother. Because my feelings never change a bit I always feel like shit I don't know why, I guess that I just do I really respect the way Elliott tells it how it is like that..he's just honest about the situation, doesnt try and justify it, doesnt try and explain..he isnt asking for sympathy even - he's just accepting that he always feels like shit. I think, sometimes with depression, honesty can really save people. they can find peace of mind through clarity. Unfortunatley for elliott, he obviously passed that, he just went straight into that place of giving up. |
Elliott Smith – Pitseleh Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song to me, works on a lot of levels. I think mainly, it is about loving somebody who is very fragile. The way he describes not being able to be her 'puzzle pieces' and, how he knew when he first saw her that he'd end up ''not meaning to hurt her''. I think he's looking at this person, and it's reflecting himself - his own problems, the way he too, can't seem to over-come.. the way we always end up doing as 'the devil pleases' because sometimes people can't stand what god puts them up to. I think there was a lot of empathy in elliott, when he says 'I'm so angry, I dont think it'll ever pass'' I think he's talking about his life in general, the ''anger'' or resentment that the world can give some people, and how sometimes - they don't get over it. |
Simon and Garfunkel – I Am A Rock Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I love this song, It's sarcastic. |
JoJo – Too Little Too Late Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Ok, this song has made me a Jojo fan. Usually i'm not into this kind of cliche american pop thing, but she has a very good voice and I think the arrangement of this song is also good. The meaning is obvious, but it isn't shallow like a lot of chart songs out there. |
The Police – Don't Stand So Close To Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song is really clever, i think it's brave of sting to aprouch a subject like this. i think he has compassion for both characters in it - he's not saying the girl is a slut for loving her teacher, and he isn't saying the guy is a pervert. infact if anything, he's giving the guy cudos. the imagary of the teacher seeing the girl out in the rain at the bus stop, having to stop himself from offering her a ride - it's those details that really give this music life. This is just an amazing song, about sexuality and like people above me have said - forbidden fruit. |
Counting Crows – Colorblind Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I love the scene in cruel intentions where this song is played, I think it perfectley depics sabastians character opening up a new side of himself, ''coffee black, and egg, white'' describes how you can be the type of person who chooses to only see things in simplicity, who doesn't explore emotion, or can't explore it for fear of what you might find. i love the lines, ''i am covered in skin, noone gets to come in'', it's about going inside yourself and staying there, and protecting yourself from other people. All in all, this song to me is about someone unfolding themselevs and really being their true self through falling in love, finding that person who can unravel them and make sense of them. love is a beautiful thing, folks! |
Chantal Kreviazuk – Julia Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this is about Julia Roberts apparently. |
Tori Amos – Precious Things Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i always thought 'precious things' were refering to all the insecurities and fears and doubts she has about herself weather she's alone or next to these 'beautiful girls' and 'christian boys' who aren't perfect at all. she's telling these fears and doubts, to bleed, to get out, she wants them to break their hold on her. I love this song, I relate 100% |
Tori Amos – Josephine Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this song makes me feel really sad, but it;s so beautiful. I never knew what it was about until I read up on here! thanks for explaining people!. I love the way that stories and situations, even ones that happend to other people years ago, can feel so close to you when tori writes about them. Just somethin about the way she sings, it's like she understands things with such an intimacey anyway i love tori, she's super-human :-) |
Tori Amos – How Can I Touch You Again Lyrics | 17 years ago |
weather this is a tori song or not i have no idea, but it's really good, I love the way it captures the emotions you have when you love someone but you know they've been with someone else. The hurt is just too difficult to get over, if you are deeply in love with them. |
Keane – Crystal Ball Lyrics | 17 years ago |
LMAO why have i been thinking for AGES that this song was about chris de burgh and not 'crystle ball!' |
Alanis Morissette – Simple Together Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this song honestly makes me cry, the way she gets across the feeling of shock and loss, it's all gone wrong and she just can't believe it. she can't think straight. |
Suzanne Vega – Marlene On The Wall Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think it's called my destiny That I am changing I love those lines, how they can be taken so differently. Is it that thing destiny, that is making her change? Or is she changing her destiny? |
Paula Cole – Hush, Hush, Hush Lyrics | 17 years ago |
yep me too. always thought it was about someone dying of cancer until i got a bit older and realized it was about a young person dying of AIDS. i think the music at the end of this is just incredible, i close my eyes and it just takes me somewhere else. |
Paula Cole – Pearl Lyrics | 17 years ago |
impossible** |
Paula Cole – Pearl Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i think this song is about her wanting to have it all and feelin like it's impossibly without going insane, so she's praying for god to give her the will power to keep everything together and not give anything up. |
Lauryn Hill – Nothing Even Matters Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i agree, this song is beautiful. it's so slow and melodic, they both have a lot of passion in their voices. my fav lines : You're part of my identity I sometimes have the tendency To look at you religiously 'Cause nothing even matters to me'.. :) |
Liz Phair – Canary Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i fucking love this song, it's one of the best on the album of exile, the piano bit is great. who the hell is talking in the background though? lol. I love the way she sings the first verse, 'I write with a number 2 pencil, I work up to my potential,' it's like dry anger. |
Vanessa Carlton – Annie Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i love this song, first time hearing it. I think the bit where her voice goes high on the ''I'd give my bones for you to get a few more years For you and I, oh Annie'' bit is so sad and beautiful. great song, im a new nessa fan. hehe |
Hole – Your Empathy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this has sexual connotations to me. I think she's refering to this guys dick, when she says empathy, like a fuck from him is gunna make her better and she's jealous of him, but she wants him and she's just disgusted with herself. |
Courtney Love – Life Despite God Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I will wait for you And when you bore me ill be gone And i will cheat on you wiht your daddy or son I will fuck you up im so sorry Its just in my nature, baby Well there aint nothing i can do to stop Oh bastard LOL! sometimes the things courtney writes, you know it's sad and you wanna cry for her but you just can't help but laugh. I mean, i love courtney and i love hole, but some of the shit she sings about is just so fucked up and honest you have to smile. i think she smiles at her pain too. |
Hole – Olympia Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this is probably one of the best song from the album. I have no idea about the place she's talking about, but I can imagine her totally hateing it but loving to hate it at the same time. |
Hole – Reasons to Be Beautiful Lyrics | 18 years ago |
courtney once said somethin about how she'll start writing a song about one thing and by the end of it, the topic will have changed. so i guess it's guna be near to impossible to figure out what each song is about, it's def down to your own interpritation (sp?). when i first got this album i thought every song was about kurt, i think her head is messed up and has been for a long time now but not everything is about kurt. hey, it's the drugs, it's her low self-worth it's everything we know and love about her! rock on hole |
Paula Cole – Feelin' Love Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song is horney as fuck! i love it. |
Hole – Finally We Are Popular Lyrics | 18 years ago |
hehe love this! Ahhh nobody pokes fun at people better than courtney. |
Hole – Miss World Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this was my favourite song when I was 12 years old. I dont think i really payed that much attention to the lyrics then (lol) but in retrospect, it's simple but poetic. kill me pills, no one cares my friends my friends I always heard the line ''kill me pills'' as though she's calling the drugs 'kill me pills''. not like she's asking them to kill her. make any sense? |
Hole – Playing Your Song Lyrics | 18 years ago |
whenever i hear the first verses of this song i just think of her fued with dave G. It's like she's spitting at him, foo fighters 'sold out', she's laughing at him. |
Vanessa Carlton – White Houses Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Summer love? |
Vanessa Carlton – More Than Wanted Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i like this song, to me it is about being with someone, or getting to know someone who really doesn't know how much depth there is to you, you want someone to communicate with on your level, but they dont see it all. i think when she's saying that some guy gets off on the fact that she's famous, loves to watch her play her piano but he doesn't look into what she's singing. |
Liz Phair – Only Son Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I'm the worst kind of son Bringing shame to my family And I know I have worn My mother's heart out, believe me Those are the best lines in this song, by far. The feeling of disapointing your own mother by just being yourself is the worst. liz is so honest and vulnerable i love it, it makes her so strong in her songs. |
Avril Lavigne – Falling Down Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i like this song, it's cute. the opening lyrics are good, she's like, if fear and pressure are what make us become who we are in life and get stuck in a shitty dead end jobs and unhappy relationships, then she's not up for it cos she wants more from life. |
Liz Phair – Flower Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is a GREAT song. Its just so honest, liking someone that you shouldn't, and actually thinking like a guy does (not all guys!)... i can't even describe this song or what it means to me, i can't put my finger on it! it's ironic, it's sarcastic, it's a bit sad, it's funny, it's sexy... Awsome |
Billie Holiday – The Very Thought of You Lyrics | 18 years ago |
why has nobody commented on this! it's like the sweetest song ever and i can totally relate to it. Miss holiday sung it beautifully |
Bill Withers – Lean On Me Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Sometimes, in our lives We all have pain, we all have sorrow But, if we are wise We know that there's always tomorrow I really love those lines. Great song |
Madonna – I'm So Stupid Lyrics | 18 years ago |
LOVE thing song! this album totally rocked |
Paula Cole – Oh John Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this song is awsome.. the last line just hits so hard. in my life, flooding me with memories. it's obvious it's about going back in your head about people. |
Paula Cole – I Am So Ordinary Lyrics | 18 years ago |
''And I'm just your morning after'' my fav line. and yeah ,this song rocks. paula cole is one of the most under rated artists out there |
Madonna – Nobody Knows Me Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i love this song! it's how i feel all over really. i think for madonna, its about how she's been wreckless in earlier life trying to get to where she is now, and she feels that now she's closer to the light, closer to things that actually matter in life. And how so much crap is written about her, but she doesnt care because nobody knows her really, they just know this performer that is her image. |
